For those not wanting to watch the whole thing, he got 13.4mpg on his loop. Sounds about right to me for a brand new not broken in truck on winter fuel in cold temps.
No way am I letting my truck start and stop at each stop. Just the loss of oil each time to the bearings freaks me out. I am a Ford senior master tech driving a 2023 5.0 Tremor, 2023 F150 Whipple charged Platinum and a 2024 base Raptor. Auto start stop is disabled on ALL my vehicles, I run full synthetic boutique oil in all three trucks, and change my oil every 3.000 miles. The price of an engine is so out of hand, I plan on keeping my trucks for 10 years, oil is cheap compared to body off engine replacements....I don't want the extra wear. If I got a new truck every 6 months like a lot of RUclipsrs, then I wouldn't care, but for long term truck users...a different story. The extended oil change intervals that OEMs are stating are for emission credits from the Biden admin. Maintenance, maintenance, maintenance is the way to go to get 500K out of our vehicles. Appreciate your great videos.
Interesting perspective. What’s the oil pressure on an engine that isn’t running? I would assume 0psi, unless there is some sort of accumulation system.
@@simd510Your reading comprehension needs work, seriously. He’s talking about how the bearings don’t get lubricated with oil right away. Startup is when engines experience a ton of wear. Every time you start an engine, it takes a second or two for the oil system to pressurize and get oil to all the parts that need it. During that short time, parts like the crank bearings, turbo bearings, camshafts, and pistons are basically running dry without proper lubrication. Everyone knows this. Now imagine doing this to your engine 20 times every time you drive somewhere because of start-stop tech… Yeah, not great.
After 175 miles, mine has been getting 13 mpg. I go between sport and Auto…..mostly sport mode tho lol. Driving this truck is by far the best experience I have had in any vehicle. Soooo smooth. I keep the engine rest off.
Glad it helps, I have zero regrets buying this...it gets about 1.5mpg less than my last Raptor driven in same drive cycle. Interior/Power worth it all day!
Thats pretty good! I think part of this is winter and not broken in. I spoke to Chrysler and they told me after 5000 miles it will get better. My guess is this will be a 15-16mg truck in summer. Regarless not a biggie. I love the truck!
Dang that is great fuel mileage. I had an Ecodiesel Grand Cherokee thing had great power and fuel economy...did you have any glow plug or engine harness problems? My ED went through a few sets of glow plugs and the engine harness before they got it fixed.
I have a similar experience with by 2020 Longhorn gen-3 EcoDiesel. Great power, zero issues and average around 24-25 mpg but have gotten as high as 31 mpg. I have the 33-gallon tank and drove from Denver to Tulsa Oklahoma without filling up, that's approximately 750 miles between fill-ups. After having my truck, getting 13-14 mpg would have my knees knocking & hating life. Especially since premium is more expensive than diesel is around here.
I considered it too. Not going to lie. $75k for a 3-4 year old 2-3 owner TRX that’s been beat made it less desirable to me. I wanted hands free driving and the new facia/interior on a brand new truck for same or less money than used TRX. If a user TRX would have been $50k I might have went that route.
I'm with you Mike. There are really good 2021 TRX's going for $60K right now here in the east coast. 30-40K miles and great carfax history. I just test drove a '25 Tradesman with the SST and it was plenty quick and had all the essentials for me at a huge discount at $40K. I just can't justify the $35K increase in the RHO.
As a manual challenger hellcat driver, quit bragging about your fuel economy in that thing. I think I average around 10mpg. Keep up the videos. You're making me want a RHO as my second vehicle in the next few years.
I appreciate the kind words about the videos, I'm not bragging about fuel economy (haha), Thanks for watching! more fun to come on the RHO! I will be doing a 2500 mile review on this very soon! stay tuned!
One exotic car & truck youtuber cut the last resonator off of his Jeep Gladiator and it sounded way better than the Ram straight six turbo, which sounds like the mail truck with a fart can muffler. .
Would’ve been nice to know how long your fuel mileage loop is. Also in other videos you’ve done what you referred to as a 30 second method fill up, but I haven’t heard you ever explain what you mean by that.
My Standardized "Ctech" mini loop is 17.9 miles comprised of mostly rural/highway driving. We always warm up engines/trans prior to starting. 70-72F climate control set, and Eco mode if vehicle has it. 30 second method refers to when the fill up handle clicks off after full, you wait 30 seconds then pull pump one more time and then you consider that full. TFL coined this terms several years back and everyone kind of does it now!
I see about a 2.5 mpg drop in MPG on my GMC in the winter with winter blend fuel and running the transfer case in Auto 4 wheel drive. I never had a full time 4x4 get good mileage. My 1993 Land crusier when new struggled to get 12 mpg.
I was originally going to be in the market for an RHO but as soon as I seen dealers giving 10 $11,000 off of sticker at the release of the truck…… The value on these things is going to crash faster than the company behind it.
Time will tell but I don’t think this will happen. People said the same thing in 2019 when the refreshed Ram 1500 came out. At a bargain price. The next few years they took double digit market share from competitors year over year. Ram got greedy on their pricing the past few years and now they’re making adjustments on their Ram is ahead of the competition on pricing for 2025MY trucks.
@ that is not a good comparison being that it was during Covid you could sell a totaled car for more than it’s sticker price practically. At the end of the day $10k off sticker means your value drops from $10k below sticker. The raptors hold their value extremely well and have never had to give $10k off. I was a Mopar or no Car guy but the brand seems to sabotage its owners and the resale values are rough.
I bought my 23 Bronco Raptor for $15k off MSRP brand new and others were getting them for $17k off new. I got my 19 Raptor for $7k off MSRP. Raptor Resale in the past 12 months has dropped big time. 24 Raptor Rs were selling last April for 170-185k...now dealers struggle to get MSRP of $115k. The market has changed a lot in the past few years. Competition is heating up...which is good for all of us! Dealers by me are already selling brand New F150 Raptors 35 and 37 package trucks for $5k under MSRP. Unless Ford cuts back allocations on 35/37 package Raptors to dealers I fully expect to see them selling for $10-15k under MSRP this year.
Yes RHO is a great competitor for the base Raptor, I think we may see a hybrid/Hurricane "TRX" that makes 700-800hp in the future but dont see a reason for them to bring a Hellcat TRX out unless its 800-1000hp and I do not see them doing that.
So I have a Laramie 25 lease has a lot of features but I didn’t know there’s a feature to tell you speed limit lol. Mine must not have it cause I live in the same state as you do, as far as speed limit lol. That’s odd they wouldn’t just include that little feature in every vehicle just to make it a little more “safer”. I’m sure as far as insurance goes that looks good to them.
Thanks for the comment. 3.0 duramax is the best fuel economy engine in the half ton segment! Most people are not buying RHO/RAPTORS for fuel economy at least it gives us a first impression on this. More to come in this topic.
I am waiting for the 2025 Trail Boss to be released this spring. The RST now has incredibly smooth highway drive-ability and wicket speed to match. RAM in a missed opportunity in this market (where tesla totally failed in the pick up truck market) has pushed back the release of the REV, so there is nothing to answer GM and Ford and that IMO was a mistake. The RHO for off-road looks intriguing but I will not buy any new piston powered vehicles as they are too costly to operate and clunky to drive. I think you have a nice truck in the RHO trim for a combustion based drive train, however today's market in 2025 there are better options for a full sized pick up truck that are coming out this year. (Hummer?)
Thanks for watching, I am very excited about the Ram REV...supposed be released in first half of this year. That will be the game changer in the truck market. I considered a Hummer but the resale is horrible, $100 fast charging just doesn't work for me. I saw some deals for leasing one...I like the Hummer SUV if you could lease one for under $600...believe it or not there are deals like this out there on them.!
@@CTECH-REVIEW The math at my house for a theoretical test case Hummer works out for a 210 KwH battery with 2.1 miles per KW efficiency and charging 10% to 80% at home (10Cents per KwH) is $14.70. The range of that charge is about 310 miles. With a 60 amp circuit that is easily completed overnight. I will assume your test trip was around 30 miles. Today's local gas price in my state is $3.11. Your fuel consumption should have been around 2.23 gallons putting the local fuel cost at $6.96 for your test trip. If you drove the EV charge range of 310 miles your cost should have been around $69.60. With our EV we have used DC fast charging a total of 6 times in the last 12 months which is less than 5% of our total usage in 2024.
2.1 per Kw is dang good for a Hummer...The Ford lightning I drove got no where near that good of Mpge...charging at home is only financial option that makes sense as level 3 chargers for a hummer would cost you more to charge than filling up our navigator with premium. If I can lease a Hummer right I will have one in the garage! Check out this video I did of Lightning ruclips.net/video/tEj6YiaHiXA/видео.html
Gas mileage is garbage. My buddy is already looking to get rid of his because he pulls a heavy trailer and gets 8-9 mpg. It sounds like a sewing machine, that is not a nice rumble.

Ill stick with my 08 ram 1500 twin pipes so loud you can hear me a mile away. Make your windows rattle at the stop light. 😂😂 the softy society gets the softer the trucks they make.
My 14/16 and 2020 Hemi 1500 never got better than 16 in the winter with 100% stock suspension and wheels and tires. That was for highway driving too. I loved that truck...trouble free 80k miles!
@ Yeah, that. Anyways if you use it for business you get a 70-cent per mile tax deduction. That turns basically anything road-legal into an economy car.
Pathetic mileage. What do you expect with 530hp? Ram is rediculous. Why do you need 540hp? Just to try to beat an ecoboost cause your mad you've been getting g beat by v6s in your hemis for like 10 plus years now?😂😂 at least the ecoboost pulls great gets excellent mileage when not pulling and still beats 95% of v8s out. Ford is the best overall truck, STILL!
Thanks for watching! Ecoboost was leading the charge for in the truck market with the 3.5! Everyone finally followed the same path! I have always been a fan of them. Especially the 2.7/3.0 Ecoboost. Personally I have not ever been a fan of the hemi. But I didn’t mind the hellcat for power. But other than that I like the 5.2l supercharged v8 by Ford much more than the Hellcat. More fun stuff to come on this channel!
My 2500 6.4 hemi does too lol. It’s terrible when a heavy duty, 3/4 ton gets better mpgs than a half ton, but I also realize several factors play into it.

It’s a 6500 lb brick. Engine has phenomenal performance but not entirely surprised given the bigger tires as well
3.5 tons! Wild to think about! Haha
Ill stick with my 08 ram 1500 twin pipes so loud you can hear me a mile away. Make your windows rattle at the stop light. 😂😂 the softy society gets the softer the trucks they make.
Haha! I hear ya...I am actually going to have a video out soon with an old school truck! We did one earlier this year with Raptor that was fun!
That’s horrible gas mileage for a 1/2 ton truck, lol.
Luckily I didn’t buy it for the MPG, but I think it will get up to 15-16 in summer once broken in! Till then I will send it!
That full time AWD is a gas hog. When I've tested me trucks it's 3-5 mpg difference highway miles.
I agree! The full-time AWD system does take a hit on fuel economy!
Wow my 21 RAM w/5.7 gets 17.5 city w/33" tires
Very nice! Thanks for watching!
No it doesn't
mine gets 12-13 in the winter in pa more specifically lehigh valley might as well drive a trx. btw 2020 bone stock larmie
My 14/16 and 2020 Hemi 1500 never got better than 16 in the winter with 100% stock suspension and wheels and tires. That was for highway driving too. I loved that truck...trouble free 80k miles!
Better than my LX570…
Wow! Those are nice rides! Thanks for watching
It won’t be doing better when your LX has 350k on the clock…
If you care about fuel economy, a factory-lifted hot rod pickup truck might not be for you.
smiles per mile!
@ Yeah, that. Anyways if you use it for business you get a 70-cent per mile tax deduction. That turns basically anything road-legal into an economy car.
Sounds horrible!
Vroooom!
Big tires 390 gears Does not = good mpg. You want good mpg buy a Toyota Camry
I agree! It’s not going to be a fuel sipper.
NO NO NO RHO👉yes trx👌😎
TRX! Nice trucks
That MPG sucks. Id rather have the HEMI back. I get 15 mpg on my 2019 with 35inch tires
It would be interesting if they did put a non-hellcat in this truck what it would do.
Dang, My 2024 2500 Rebel gets better than that on the Highway.
In winter going 65 maybe
My 2500 6.4 hemi does too lol. It’s terrible when a heavy duty, 3/4 ton gets better mpgs than a half ton, but I also realize several factors play into it.
@@calientemac1 link to your fuelly account?
@ I’m just going by what my truck is telling me 🤷🏻♂️
@@calientemac1 exactly, so your mileage is off by 1-2 mpg
That's not very good fuel economy and you have to use premium fuel no thanks That's no go
As the disclaimer mentions!
Junk
Thanks for watching
That fuel mileage is pitiful for an inline 6 cylinder motor.
that auto 4x4 and winter fuel I think is whats killing it during break in.
520 hp…….
