I never learnt chords on piano before, let alone inversions and octaves.. i love this song and after abt 10 days of being at this on and off i’m finally getting the hang of it.. my left hand hits the right octave keys and my right hand is starting to remember the chord shapes ♥️ i am very grateful. Still confused on why this chord shape over the other at times but i’m not gonna complain.. thanks brother 🙏🏼 for teaching a 40 year old guy how to sing one of his favorite songs on the piano for the first time eventually ♥️
Mark ! Keep makimg it EASY and we LL keep watching! Yes, explain the CHORDS step by step! Keep the slow pace so we can work at it . Do normal speed later! The keynotes EACH light up that helps with counting out loud!
Mark You're back. Yay. I missed your videos. So good to have you back. So so so happy; I found you fortuitously whilst looking for something else on RUclips.
Hey James, age and 'smartness' are not necessarily correlated. However you don't need to be smart or young to start playing piano, my grandfather literally started when he was 83. You might have some stiffness in the fingers but this can disappear quickly. I'm sure you'll be able to learn! :)
Thanks Michaele I'm really happy to hear that! :) p.s. if you want to improve your piano skills to play my lessons quicker and remember them better you should definitely check out the Ultimate Piano Course on www.pgnpiano.com!
I have piano. For years I have been watching other videos,I still can't get any improvement. I almost wanted to giveaway the piano. Now, after I watch your channel I wll keep the piano. You are good teacher to me,and for many out there, who are beginners .Thank you. You are one of the best.

I love your playing its beautiful. Do you know music of the night thats going to be a final song in college in 4 months.
It´s a great way to manage both hands separately and then together. I´m just begining but I believe is better than other proposals I´ve checked. Thanks. I´ll keep following you.Regards

I'm sorry I'm new to piano... But why are the chords you're playing on the piano in the video different than the reference chords posted at the top? For example the reference chord at the top shows a C chord as C-D-G and you play it in the video as G-C-D. Just confusing me a little while I try to follow.
Alissa Gregory I'm late but in case you haven't found out already, C-D-G is no different then G-D-C. Or D-G-C etc. Those are called inversions. You don't actually need a lesson on that. It's fairly simple to comprehend.
You get the same song playing the cords at too if your a learner and when your comfortable enough to try a cord inversions which is just normally the first note of the cord added on the end of the example A cord inversions add a the higher A at the end of the cord if that makes sense
just s small adding... c major chord is C-E-G, not C-D-G and what guys called chord inversions is pretty simple. its so easy to call it chord inversion, but in the nameology in theory of music this is THE second inversion of c chord and should be marked .C/G, First is the initial chord C and G means tone which you start on. As it is the third note in C major chord thats why is this second inversion of c major. The third inversion makes no sense because you go to the original chord c major. C-E-G. So it is NOT THE SAME as c major. harmoniously yes, but to musicians NOT.Therory people, theory is the key to understand!!
Hey Norman, I don't play 5 notes in my chords. I play the chords in the right hand, the left hand is not playing any chords it is playing octaves. These are very important things to understand and if you do not yet, that is okay but I recommend you watch my theory course here on youtube or the Ultimate Piano Course :) p.s. However I think yes :) p.s. if you want to improve your piano skills to play my lessons quicker and remember them better you should definitely check out the Ultimate Piano Course on www.pgnpiano.com!
Why is this different then the "mad world" easy lesson which i just learned the other way. Why would we want to write it all down when you used to have the chords already on screen? So is the letter chord left hand and the lights righthand?
Hey, nope, the chords are for both hands, the lights are both hands as you can clearly see. This uses a chord system rather then a letter system because I find it easier nowadays. :P You can also watch my Ultimate Piano Course in which I explain all of this :) it will be live september 1st, and you can get a $20 discount coupon if you send me your email so that I can put you on the list :)
So for those of us who have been with you a while now have to learn a chord system? Will the easy letter system videos still be on the website? I just completed your program on udemy,
These new lessons have been up for nearly a year now, I haven't used the letters in almost 12 months. As with computers, sometimes things get updated, if improvements are made. You don;t have to learn this new system, it isn't even a new system, chords have been in piano music for ages. I've found that people learn easier with it, so you can take the opportunity to learn even better, and faster, or you cannot. That's up to you.
Before i pay the 24 dollars on your website will the easy letter system videos still be on the website or not? Also i did send you and email with email for that discount. I dont mind learning other ways
So here is how it works, on www.pgnpiano.com you can find all lessons, including the lessons with the letters (the older lessons). You can watch all lessons, download all lessons, and you can download the slides for the lessons which have the letters (so you can download the letters in .pdf). Then, if you sign up to www.pgnpiano.com you can go to www.pgnpiano.com/coupons and you will find a $40 coupon for my new course: The Ultimate Piano Course, which is a separate thing. if they are different this is because of inversions in the chords. You always notate a root position chord, but it does not mean you have to play the root position

hi PGN Piano i m interested ..by the way do u teach reading notes?

Hey Norma, simply go to www.pgnpiano.com/all-lessons for an overview of all lessons. go to ruclips.net/user/pgnpiano

I did so already, just search: stay pgn piano
Is it possible to get the sheet music once the lesson is finished. How much will you charge for it?.Thanks.

Hey Norman, I don't play 5 notes in my chords. I play the chords in the right hand, the left hand is not playing any chords it is playing octaves. This is the full song right ?
yep
could you please teach Drug Dealer - Macklemore :D
Sure! :)
PGN Piano thanks!
So is this the full lesson?
Yes it is, it says full lesson right? :P
Cool
is the very last chord of the chorus a C major? (after the G major)

Yes,there is a charge
i thought that it was a bit to fast for me to understand well. if you slowed down a bit that would be could

the chords r inverted
I just wonder why there is no counting?
Hey Richard, in general counting confuses more people than not counting. Also you cannot count and sing at the same time, and in general musicians never count when performing, it's all about internalising the rhythm, not consciously counting. p.s. watch a list of all my lessons: pgnpiano.com/lessons

this is easy???
Yep! :)
hey im a newbie and looking for a keyboard to start with would you be able to suggest something? preferably portable
Yamaha P-45 is a great Beginner's digital Piano. Full 88-keys and has a USB port for Synthesia :)
Why didn't you sing along the whole song? It was so confusing without a sing along...
Well, because I usually don't sing along in most of my lessons. Also, in my newer lessons i have the parts specified more clearly, check them out ;)
I'm like 999 one more guys
What? My hands are small af help.
New to the piano I was really thrown off by what I now know is an cord inversions.

your notations above are not what you're playing so it's very confusing!
if they are different this is because of inversions in the chords. You always notate a root position chord, but it does not mean you have to play the root position
realy too fast
