To answer why Vernias got hit when he ledge grabbed, I believe it was due to his less endlag ability which probably affected every move Vernias does.

Those Incineroar buffs were busted, super armor+teleporting. Felt like Vernias couldn't even fight back after that lol
I think the idea is that the Incineroar armor would have been broken and more or less countered by upgrading the damage tree, which likely would have made every move (except the multi hit aerials and nair) strong enough to break the armor, especially since the third upgrade was shown to be crazy every time, but we never saw what upgrade went beyond increased tilt damage.
If the damage upgrade was like Aura or double damage or Arsene, or some other crazy late game upgrade, Incineroar would have been cooked.
I thought the teleport one was an evolution of jump

This is honestly such a cool concept, I’d love to see you do this with the other party crashers, or honestly anyone. This is too cool to be just one video.
This idea is -more like a game called Rounds than a roguelike- *similar to a game called Rounds*. In that game, both players pick a power-up at the start and the loser of each round gets to pick another one. Here, though, both players get to pick a power-up regardless of who won or lost (which is also a Rounds mod). Maybe for a follow-up video you can do what Rounds does.

You start a game, get upgrades over the course of it, whether you win or lose, that's the end of it and you have to start over. It's a roguelike. Rounds is a roguelike. You can describe this as being more like Rounds, but that doesn't mean this isn't a roguelike as you have indicated, that is stupid.

Fun fact: 1:47 is something that can naturally happen due to some weird frame timing mixed with arial drift. I wish I could explain how it works, but I'm not a super technical player in that sense. I just know I love using that into side early b's off the top, though in certain scenarios, nair pffstage works wonders

You know this concept here can be amazing with a lot more options. There's tons of potential here. Like one of them can be that your character just gets super mushroomed and it can stack. But then again having to do that with all the characters would be very tough to do.

I was just saying this should be a thing in the next smash game to a friend last week. Like, I wrote a five page essay about how it might even work and its basically the same as what you've got going on here.
Once Nick got super armor, Vernias should’ve just gone with the damage buffs to even stand a chance.

What happened at the end when vernias was in ledgehang and got spiked;
In melee, ledge intangibility is not applied during ledgehant, it's a flag placed on the player with a timer (allowing invincible ledge-options and a lot of badonkers thing)
In ult, ledgehang is technically a move, and every move is -10f (due to Xfactor).
Problem is, frames are not explicitelly written for animations of move, they're calculated by animation speed.
Lily probably applied -10f by accelerating animations by a certain math formula depending on endlag etc afterr the last hitbox was active.
But ledgehang doesn't have a hitbox, so the macro used to write the code for the -10f sped the whole ledgehang anim speed+ "frame data" by a LOT, rendering the state intangible for like 4 frames max.
Of course, this is purely speculation as I have no idea how Lily ACTUALLY wrote this mod, but this is the only explanation I can find (since it's unheard off to apply frame data changes to every moves automatically)

While ledgehang is technically a move in ultimate and invincibility frames are not explicitly defined, they’re placed based on calculations done in main and animation speed has no effect.
What I did to implement -10f is use two functions available in base game- one that outputs the final frame of the current animation, and one that outputs the current frame of it. The code then checks if the current frame is within 10 from the final frame, and if so, grants the player the ability to cancel the move with anything.
I’m not entirely sure why Vern didn’t have intangibility. My best guess is that he accidentally cancelled the ledgehang early by pressing something within a specific window, and by doing so ended the cliffhang status and therefore his intangibility, but *not* the motion.
