This is absolutely my favourite ship in the game. If I am in a slump, or playing a day with no enjoyment, I will automatically pull out this ship and get to a down a dirty brawl. As soon as I do, I get the biggest smile on my face for the brawling. I also find that this ship gives me a lot of citadels against lther T7 and some T8 BBs which is also very smile inducing.
Just watched this again(probably my third or fourth time) got the Scharnhorst for free XP last night. I still crack up every time I see you dodging the fushan torps, “wide spread, easy to dodge, dammit”
Haven't used Gneisenau in a while, but I used to have a couple ppl that Id team with. We'd have two "Ginsus", and a DD. Wed sail around in a line, tag teaming every target, and just wreak havoc. Think those tactics created some of my longest win streaks. It was just soooo much fun!!!
Terry, a bit of correction. After the first successful operation of Scharnhost sisters Genaisnau got the 15" guns and when the war ended Genaisnau got scrapped by the British with 2, 15" gun turrets on her
It is interesting that German battleship construction never focused on firepower: the WW1 battleships carried the heaviest possible armor, and by the time of WW2, speed had become just as important as armor to the Germans. Even the 380mm guns of the Bismarck were just average in terms of caliber (however, they were extremely accurate, with 52 caliber lengths, light shells and flat shell arcs)
They were developing 406mm guns as well, but I think they were meant for the larger ships in plan Z. They were supposed to not be at war with Britain until '48 or so, which was the foundation of building a navy powerful enough to challenge the RN. H-class would have been some seriously powerful boats, and the British were already rather afraid of Tirpitz and Bismarck. In-game, 380mm is actually one of my favourite calibres. I'd take Richie, Bismarck, Hood, Roma over the IJN / USN 410/406mm mains.
@@FunandGameswithTerry Plan Z Was extremely unrealistic, since the UK wouldn't sit idle while Germany built a serious navy. The five KGVs together would have outmatched the four new German battleships in a straight battle. And by the time the H class battleships were finished, the British would have the Lion class operational. Germany simply couldn't outproduce the Allies. In my opinion, Germany should have poured all resources into the army and air force, which would a) not alarm the UK and b) give it a better chance against the Reds, because the eastern front was the decisive theater in WW2. If Germany wanted to win WW2, they had to go to war in 1939. By 1948, Germanys window of opportunity would have been gone, because by 1938, the allies began preparing for war as well.
@@michaelkovacic2608 it would of been better if Hitler first seem friendly whilst building up his army, and then by the time his navy could rival that of the U.K. then start being aggressive, but not necessarily towards the allies, just neighboring countries. I mean the allies literally just let Hitler break the treaty of Versailles and did nothing about it, and the heavy rearmament wasn't even because of Germany, but rather Japan who refused to sign the Naval treaty. The only really influence the Kriegsmarine had was the building of the Deutschland-Class ship.
Terry, can you make a new video on this ship? I found it powercreeped nowadays and i found that She needs to be played in an other way than She used to be. Maybe She needs a buff on her main guns for sure!
How are you scoring torpedo hits on an AFK ship? Mine go right through them w/o registering as hits. Guns register hits on them, but torps? Never seen that in my battles.
Won it from an event when they actually gave you ships for free in those events.. but as i said i dont like switching torps in out on bb.. also its kinda underpowered compared to best in slot ships bb t7 colorado/weevee or even nagato .. wich is awesome for randoms.. citadel city
I’m lucky, while I always loved the Scharnhorst classes, both the 1908 and the 1936 classes. The Gneisenau was always my favorite. I just live saying that name lol. I’m sad that Derflinger, Seydlitz and Lutzow aren’t in the game. I have the Kongo just for historical reasons. I’m not a big Japanese fan but I always loved the Kongo class battle cruiser, specifically the Kongo. So I worked up just to get it. I only had to go from the Ishizuki, made it a lot easier lol If only the game had the New Jersey in it, that’s my favorite American ship.
Yk terry would make a great history teacher lol. But anyways ah yes the scharnhorst. A ship that's a little bit of well everything. Definitely not one of my favorite ships but a good ship no doubt.

You can get Gneisenau for free, plays very similarly. You just trade the 283s for Bismarck's 380s, but the secondaries, torps and general battlecruiser playstyle are similar.
hahahaha that was just wow yesterday. Twice in a row, I'm caught bow-in in reverse by the same DD :) Richie can take out Hsienyang in a 1:1, but not in reverse or in a tanking position, if the DD player know what they're doing. She needs to sail away, get the occasional HE salvo in, and otherwise just blast away with the secondaries.
I don’t have Scharnhorst in WOWS Blitz unfortunately but would be nice to have Scharnhorst for free but however I have made Scharnhorst in D&D as a Cold Blooded Killer
Meh😑German line BBs do little for me. The whole double secondary weapons is a novelty though... Still I never feel timid rolling right up and smacking em around... West Virginia does nicely in t7😊
For me German BBs shells hits like a truck in close quarter, because it suits my aggressive playstyle. Even i sunk West Virginia with Bayern T6, just dont flank West Virginia until she got a half of her HP left. 👍

I haven't quite maxed out von Hipper yet, but he's definitely good to bounce around the premium German BBs.

Freddy can be a bit tricky, especially after Bismarck, but the Kurfürst is a lot of fun

Played hundreds of games with this ship and the enhanced secondaries are the best because of the battle against DDs

Terry will love Scharnhorst, for sure. You have fast firing battle cruiser guns with excellent armor and decent maneuverability

Scharnhorst is a good but you need to get the most out of him really and he is good for Haunting Down Cruisers by the smell of their blood
