DT 990 actually has plenty of bass... You're just used to closed gaming headsets that have just boomy bass and muddie detail. DT 990 is very bassy for open headphone. DT 880 by contrast reduces the bass significantly.
Tip: the little Douk Audio U3 headphone amp plus a budget 12V power supply (2.5mm connector, 1.5A min.) do provide enough power to drive these headphones with ease - for under 40 bucks.
I dont know why, but whenever I see vonix upload, I just smile, and the fact my mans out here getting sponsors makes me happy that even though he is small compared to other big creators is just like...WOW. but still, quality video and I rate the effort.

Instrument or while gaming, footsteps still pretty cool video though Keep it up :)
Thanks for the feedback. The headset and headphone thing is my bad. I’ve always used those named interchangeably, but looking back I feel like an idiot. Also looking back, I should’ve talked more about them being open-back. Thanks for clearing things up.
Small correction. Having a bigger soundstage means the sounds will sound further away. Imaging is the term used to refer to the accuracy with which a headphone can tell you precisely where the sound is coming from. Also, open back's don't necessarily have less bass (Ex: Philips Fidelio X2 or X2HR's take your pick), but they often tend to. But everything else is right :) BTW - For anyone wanting to purchase the DT990, the power device he referred to is called an amplifier. Decent ones start at around 100 but can go up to VERY large numbers that I won't include. There are also different kinds of amplifiers so if you are interested be sure to look into that.

IDuck I have this headphone connected with my soundblaster g6. Amazing! My elgato wave 3 mic should be here soon and I need to figure out if I’m gonna have any issues with this setup for streaming.
I have had the dt990 pro for a few years now and I didn't knew that these headphones had bass until I got myself a dac/amp combo (I also did a pad swap cuz my pads where getting flat spots and uncomfortable). I heard that the new Beyerdynamic TYGR 300R headphones are better for about the same price.
@@jimmykraft8387 Tygr aren't better... They're just easier to drive. You need more expensive/powerful amplifier for DT 990s cause they're pro studio headphones. Tygr is targeting gamers and is just 32 ohms and can be driven off motherboard audio easily.
@@teemuvesala9575 You can get DT990s in 32 ohm as well. They are basically the same headphone with slightly different tuning. I think the biggest thing they changed with the Tygr is they dropped the treble a bit. That seems to be the main complaint some people have about almost all Beyerdynamic headphones, but that is kind of what makes them great for producing. It also has a shorter cable than the DT990, which is kind of a bummer. I really wish they’d just put removable cables on all of these.
It's an open back set of cans = minimal bass. Get a dedicated amp later and maybe a dac to see what the headphones can properly sound like in both music and gaming. If you break the cable = you're not fucked! 990's are user serviceable. A lot of people recommended this headphones probably because they saw this being used by a streamer and they are now an instant gaming headphone hype. Soundstage and imaging on these cans for gaming are accurate to the footsteps, magazine reload to shots fired. Side note: The headphones have a high treble, so if your ears are sensitive to that then you may not enjoy this as much.
I just got the headphones with the soundblaster g6 dac amp. My algato wave 3 mic is on the way. I’m excited. Eventually I will get a xlr mic setup but I need to figure out what mixer I need in the future for everything. For the meantime I’m gonna use elgatos software for mixing.
I feel extreme happiness for you that you got these cans, even though I use the closed back 770 pros, Genuinely speaking all beyerdynamic makes are good cans, I've never used the 990 pros, but I have heard great things about them, trust me, that's a purchase for life.
Please don't go around giving people the impression that 250ohm headphones are easily run on a GoXLR, the DAC in it is good, but not powerful enough to get the full experience out of those HEADPHONES. Just because you can hear sound out of them doesn't mean they are being fully powered, if you want to have those headphones and a GoXLR you will also need either an amp running from the GoXLR or a separate DAC/AMP combo to truly hear what those beautiful headphones can do.
Speaking DT 990 pro cans and you could say it is lack of bass which almost certainly tells me you are absolutely beats by dr dre head or sth. DT990 pro has V shaped frequency response with extended treble and bass boost. How come you could say it is lack of bass. The only thing it is actually not pretty prominent is sub bass.
