2021 June..........Hot, Hot, Hot! Wow, rocking it SO hard! Really cooking now, on that classic tune. Here in the USA,.....(I never heard of Lachy Doley, until recently.) I came for the Hammond B-3!

Great take on that classic, sadly the organ is not loud enough.
The only thing that's "loud enough" is the sax... but that's not even it. The organ's there... but it's not. Same with the drums and bass and guitars and the rest of the brass section. There's no 'life' to the mix at all. It's as if someone smashed it down (compressed it) to record it on a $19.95 cassette recorder. Compressors are great, and I use them on just about everything, but lightly and on EACH instrument and vocal SEPARATELY. And during the mix-down, not the recording. This sounded like the live left/right mix was compressed hard, but the sax was routed around the compression. Oh and... it is EASY to over do it. You can really hear it 'pumping' on the ending, like a cheap Behringer unit. And no high end... no sizzle. Like they forgot to switch on the Dolby when it was recorded... but played it back with the Dolby on for the final video mix. Sad, because I bet it sounded fantastic (especially Doley) live. As far as I'm concerned... there is nothing like the sound of a hotrod Hammond!!! (a subscriber to your channel).
@@donf3877 Thanks a lot for that great comment and for subscribing :-). A portable Hammond B3 is technically a normal B3. Way more interesting is the Leslie speaker cab. If you beef that up it can sound like a monster. But it's almost an art to make it sound great in a band context (both on a studio recording and live). Lachy Doley is an amazing player!

Every instrument... the vocals... right where it should be in the mix and really sizzling. They must of had a sound truck with a separate record mixer to get it this clear and balanced. Lachy got covered up a little at first, but he realized it and quickly jumped up an octave and two above the brass and came through strong from then on. And Lachy's solos on the Clav are unbelievable. Sure wish I could have been there.
