There is a problem here, regarding the potential for a Sienna Prime, and that's GVWR and Government CAFE and tailpipe emissions standards. The Sienna has a GVWR of 6100 pounds, and GCWR of 9600 if equipped with the trailer tow package. This puts the Sienna right up against the "ceiling" of Government weight limits for this class of vehicle. If you were to make it a PHEV, even using the same powertrain as the Rav4 Prime, the traction battery and AC-DC charging components would add nearly 1,200 pounds to the curb weight, which would require the brakes to be increased in size, and so the net increase in weight to give a Sienna Prime a 50 mile EV range would be about 1350 pounds. This would push the vehicle into a completely different weight class for EPA tailpipe emmissions, DOT crash safety, and CAFE fuel economy standards. The vehicle would have to be completely re-engineered, and re-certified; the bottom line is that minivans are a niche product that only sell in tiny numbers compared to SUV's and crossovers, so it's very unlikely that Toyota could pay all of the development costs to re-certify a Sienna Prime for a different Government weight class and still make it price competitive with the Honda Odyssey, it's main competitor. So sadly, we are unlikely to see a Sienna Prime. When Solid State batteries become available in a few years, there will very likely be a Sienna EV - no gas engine means it wouldn't have to comply with CARB fuel economy or EPA tailpipe emissions regulations.
Gas prices are not out of control, the communication I have with Toyota is. The info that this video gives is more complete than the toyota online gives you
Hello Juliana. I wanted you to present this beautiful model and here is the wait, it was worth it. Sienna is a special model even if it has many competitors. I also prefer all-wheel drive, especially like this one, it is not permanent. Don't forget the name Sienna that brings to mind the Italian city of Siena in the Tuscany region. Thank you for the presentation.👍
@@AutomotiveWoman I own one, and I like the third row room, but I have been contemplating buying the Grand Highlander, but when I test drove it the third row was definitely smaller. You did an amazing job of explaining the vehicle in depth! ❤️
1x(12/6/23)….done thank You excellent. Don’t expect to go to Toyota and pick one up. USA wait often months to years to get. I heard Canada can be a 3 or 4 year wait. To test drive one I had to drive 125 miles to test drive a used one.
thank you I have a question the left side mirror is bleary they told me because it shows you closer than the right side mirror so is that right? please can you tell me thank you
BEWARE: With AWD you must (1), make sure all your tires are about the same circumference or you will screw up the drive train. You may have to buy all 4 new tires if just one tire is bad. Research this on RUclips (2), you must tow AWD with a flatbed truck. You cannot tow on two wheels. You can not tow behind an RV with all 4 wheels on the ground Both cases are not covered under warranty
The Sienna isn't equipped with a traditional AWD system. You don't need to worry about changing the tires all at once as there is no transfer case at risk of binding.
@@jcavidz….Thank you for your input. (1), Do you know the 2nd part to the question about if you can “flat tow” with them being towed by an Motorhome?? (2), Also could you put two different tread pattern tires on the vehicle, thus maybe causing different tire friction/drag and thus hurt the AWD system?? (3), Also what if you used a temporary thin spare tire, would that hurt the tire AWD system because of different tire friction/drag??
Sienna has no competition quality wise It even beats super expensive SUVs which usually start breaking down at 50-70k miles It's also low so ingress/egress is the best
Amazing. I cannot wait for the Sienna Prime when it comes out.
That's what we want too 😎😎

Great review. I'm still not sure I understand why it doesn't get a boost in hp with the optional rear electric motor?
