I can't wait for Chinese EVs in Canada!!!! The USMCA will allow for loopholes and backdoors into the US and Canada. I refuse to buy an EV until we can get quality ones, that I can afford, from China. The US and EU brands should just stop making EVs altogether, and embrace hybrids and alt-fuels. The Chinese are clearly light-years ahead of the world on this front!
BYD is a Chinese government welfare project. They are making cars at a huge loss, which only looks like a profit because the Chinese government supplies them with 40% of the cost of their vehicles. Putting a plant in Michigan would make this instantly apparent.
I have a 2017 Chrysler minivan and I LOVE it. It has 70k miles on it and still runs well. The two cars you suggested we test are made in China and you get them here in the USA. I hope Chrysler survives and makes an electric minivan.
I have a 2012 that I got used a few years ago. It's been great - needed some electrical work that was expensive, though. They're planning an EV minivan for 2027; I hope they survive that long. Frankly why don't they just take one of those EV minivans from China and slap a Chrysler nameplate on it?
The only unserved market niche I can think of in the US is convertible EVs. Maybe Chrysler could do one of two of those and have the entire market but that is unlikely to return a profit. An EV version of the Crossfire and Sebring would be kinda cool if done right.
Half my close relatives worked in the auto industry and many worked for Chrysler Corp. I was working on my senior thesis in 1992 on EVs at Chrysler (Liberty Research Center). We had a fully functional EV back then. I am not joking. This is how much time Chrysler has wasted.
I’d hate to be the leader of one of Stellantis’s brands. They’re on a hiding to nothing. Been there, done that with a large French Company. Never again.
@@leependergraft1018 It would. If you have batteries. They have a system that shuts you off from the grid. But just solar doesn't do it. We've had it for 10+ years and still go out when the rest of the road does.
As a bit of trivia, Jeep (which was taken over by American Motors Corp ("AMC") in 1970) was the first foreign auto-maker to invest in China in 1983, before China even had commercial laws (the company law was enacted in 1993). As a result, the joint venture agreement was massive. Good pay-day for the lawyers. Chrysler purchased AMC in 1987. There is a decent book on the original deal "Beijing Jeep". One of the most classic "what could have been" stories I've ever seen in Asia.
Merge Chrysler, Dodge and Ram into Lucid to handle mass market electric vehicles (get Lucid to stop trying to get return on investment on low volume vehicles while pushing Lucid further upmarket)...
The Pacifica was a very good design when it came out. Chrysler's minivan team is world class. Unfortunately they are about two years away from releasing an EV minivan, and that may be too late to save them. Their 300 EV concept car looked great, but they didn't execute on that. Jeep is sputtering; RAM trucks are over priced. They need a new game plan to survive. I think probably someone will buy them from Stellantis and somehow keep the brand going; it's too big to die.
I'm from Windsor, ON, Canada. The city where the Pacifica is built. LG just built a massive factory here to support their partnership for the Dodge Charger EV. I think both vehicles are a joke. The company is a joke. All of their products are a joke. The great-grandson of the company's founder has been trying to buy the Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth brands back from Stellantis for years. Maybe this is Karma for them not complying!? I hope they go under and he gets the brands for pennies on the dollar!!😊
You have not backed up your statement in any way. Being from Windsor doesn’t mean you are knowledgeable about cars. Pacificas are fantastic, as you would know if you had ever driven one. I doubt you have done so.
They made a bad move getting involved with Mitsubishi in the Mid 1990s. The engine on mine caught on fire twice before hitting 40000 miles. The dealership refused to admit it was a bad fuel injection system and blamed me. When it then got stolen...I celebrated and bought another trouble free Camaro. GOOD RIDDENCE Mopar !
Lol, The Electric Viking out of power for 2 days. The irony. How about a wall battery for this massive roof solar power plant? Or use your vehicles V2H ... Oh, wait, in AU this is all too expensive and the tech is not really ready yet. As is charging that G6 on a super charger. No wonder EV sales are flat in AU and account for less than 10% of all new cars sold. Better luck in 2025, our time will come.
Chrysler lost its identity -- as a standalone brand and as Chrysler inc. The OG Chrysler cars were the only Chrysler cars, latter ones are Daimler Chrysler, Fiat Chrysler, and now Stellantis America.
Gotta disagree with you on the Pacifica. I own one, and it is superb. It does everything well: space, power, efficiency, ease of driving, infotainment, everything. It runs on gasoline, but my next one will be hybrid. Best minivan in the world.
Stow and go feature is the only mini van that fits my needs . when they went to hybrid model they killed the seat storage with the battery now you cant get EV with full flat cargo space . If they can make an Ev and retain there best feature they have chance to have something worth keeping on the market . Other wise it Bye Bye
Chrysler has fallen so flat that their only hope is to come out with something that rivals Tesla or BYD in quality and price. Since they didn’t invest in upgrading factories to be more efficient, that will be a challenging task
with serious investors the Halcyon based Airflow EV can be realised in less than 3 years depending upon how much of the EVs development has come so far . . . Chrysler may have shut down their EV program . . . but a third party EV car maker can buy the Halcyon based Airflow EV from Chrysler with full licence production & tooling . . .
I drive a leased 2024 Chrysler Voyager (fleet version of the Pacifica). I've put 30K miles on it in about 10 months. It's a good daily driver - Had one recall affecting the cruise control and traction control system that was corrected with re-programming. Then the electronic parking brake was stuck on one day, but I was able to release it and drive; the problem went away by itself. The Pentastar 3.6L V6 6 engine has a history of reliability; it has plenty of power - it has a ZF 9-speed transmission. With the stow-n-go seats stowed, there is plenty of room. Since most of the small cargo vans are no longer sold in the US, some companies are using the Voyagers as an adequate replacement. Can't vouch for the hybrid version.
Stellantis seem to have kind of decent models in Europe that just launched - Citroen e-C3. There is also the Fiat Grand Panda. The e-C3 is just too little in terms of technology for me. It is just a very basic electric car for good price. It is nothing like EV3 or the Inster albeit significantly cheaper than either.
I guess Crysler will be like Buick, having only 3-4 variations of the same car. BTW, the Buick Envista has mediocre fuel efficiency but a large center screen. EDIT: The Envista has plenty of features for an economy car. I'd consider one if I didn't care about electric power and the efficiency was closer to 40mpg.
You are way behind in Chrysler news Sam. In the US it's called CDJR for Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram. Stellantis considers these one entity for the US market. There are several YT channels who's owners have insiders feeding them info from high level executives to floor workers in a factory to people in dealerships. Here are just two of the biggest points. Their new EV the Dodge Charger which truly is a beautiful car has bricked just driving it from the factory line to a storage lot maybe a half mile away. Bricked as in completely shut down, techs plugged in a diagnostic tool and it said replace the battery! There are many thousands of these. It's touted as a high-performance EV muscle car in the style of the 60's era Dodge Chargers. They apparently got a few of them running and started shipping them to dealers and the dealers reported the same thing yet some dealers delivered one or two to customers including one RUclipsr with over a million subs and the car bricked after driving it 5 miles! That's one. Two is their new Hurricane engine for Ram trucks. More powerful than the venerable Hemi, better emissions and mileage but it's a very complex twin turbo straight six. Those are rolling out now and are already having serious mechanical issues! But wait, there's more! To say SDJR is screwed it putting it mildly. Because Trump has said he's rolling emissions and mileage standards back to 2019, CDJR is focusing on ICE yet their ICE is melting fast and they have no EV's that work. I have no idea what they're going to do. This Chrysler EV you're talking about is the LEAST of their worries. Yes, they are considering splitting CDJR off to 100% US ownership for a total revamp and/or Trump may force it. Long term they're probably going to be OK but short term?? Oh, man grab the popcorn..
Halcyon car - like much the looks. Yes is concept so production version different but if some similar would buy if all else ok functionally and produce.
dont get why Chrysler and other legacy brands dont do a deal with some of the chinese brands to rebadge there EV's as Chrysler/Jeep/Ford they could even sell them the plans and make them in America its a win win in my book
I love Chrysler. But I can't help but think that they shouldn't have merged with Stelantis or Fiat for that matter. This is a company that should have gone to BMW. For some reason, Chrysler dodged cheap and Ram have been great car companies, but they've been managed INSANELY bad. Back in the late 90s when they were in a partnership with BMW and Mitsubishi, they were awesome. But now under Stelantis, it's just awful. They have great ideas, but no initiative to follow through with them. I love the new charger, but I don't see the point in a hybrid. They showed off the Ram Revolution and then gave us the Ram Rev. and this news with what they've done with the Chrysler Evs, where they've just canceled them. It makes no sense whatsoever. My family has been buying Chrysler made cars in one. form of another for almost 100 years now. I just don't see it lasting anymore. And quite frankly, if Chrysler fails, I just don't see the American people bailing it out again.
For nowhere near the advertised price. The company took pre-orders for the base price to get their EV credits and stats padded for investors. No one will be able to buy the base model. The cheapest one will be $20-30k over base, plus the markups from the dealers.
the big 3 us auto mfg. remind me of the story of the three little pigs. the only question is will one survive? chrysler is gone in my humble opinion and who is next?
Chrysler has been Bailed Out how many times? Lee Iacocca wrote about it 50 yrs ago, the Stock is packed up same as GFC Debt and Sold as an Investment when it is Garbage. Give me an Avatar 7 Ultra EV AWD ¥289,900 = Aud $60,000 - fantastic package. Looks, Build Quality, Latest Tech.
Good riddance. We need innovation, not more attack of the clones. Stellantis is 10-15 years late and would have pushed out a substandard product: ternary batteries, nonstructural battery pack, 12v low voltage system, 400 HV, 240 miles of summer range, a bunch of expensive off the shelf components, 350hp AWD, heavy af priced at $68500 after advertising low 40s and they'd still lose money on every sale. They'd pull it down after the first or second model year after blaming a softening EV market for their garbage.
Stella has no clue about Chrysler. De-valued for DECADES. Chrysler WAS for Dodge/Plymouth what Cadillac IS for GM. But the past THREE european owners of the American brands have had no INTEREST (Mercedes) or NO CLUE (FCA & Stella) about making/maintaining a LUXURY BRAND in the US. Chrysler continues on minimal life support. Airflow had the looks and size to be a good starting point for an electric luxury vehicles for Chrysler. HAD. And now with Stella US (finally) getting a clue about electric drivetrains, Stella Global cancels Airflow and keeps Charger Daytona. Which would sell more units in the US, when executed well? A mid-size SUV or an electric “muscle-car” with electronic “engine sounds”. Good luck Global Stellantis leadership. You better find a young, progressive CEO with forward-looking VISION and market understanding. SOON.
Halcyon, yeah I'd guess some to many Americans know how to pronounce it, you got it the first time I think, weird considering how often you butcher English and your never ending assault on the Hyundai brand.
My wife and I today saw a Kia electric on a flatbed. I see Kia, Hyundai and VW's most often. If Chrysler does a 40% fire sale to clear the lots and comes back with simpler, reliable vehicles especially trucks they will sell.
The US government doesn't care about the brand, neither does consumers in US. Unlike the Italy and Germany, we really don't have any prides in our automakers here or Brand Loyalty. If you ask most Americans, they will tell you American cars are junks. I think the British felt the same way too about their cars. Lets face it, the most Popular brand in US is Toyota. If Chrysler Brand disappear, no one will even notice.
I live in a small town about 1 hour south of Belvidere IL. There is still big interest in Chrysler cars like the Pacifica and 300. The Airflow was a great idea. Why the hell would they shelf it is beyond me. I know of quite a few people who drive Pacificas and love them. I think they're garbage. Stellantis should definitely sell the brand to Frank Rhodes. Atleast he would try to save it.
Will somebody please build an EV comparable to a Dodge 1940s Power Wagon - you could use it as a tractor without doing it any harm. Drop all the gimmicks and comfort styling and just give me an unbreakable and unstoppable vehicle.
Chrysler focuses on features, and performance while totally ignoring quality and reliability. They attempt style but end up being gaudy. It's always amazed me that people buy a Chrysler. They would have to fire 90% of the staff at that company to succeed with an electric car because 90% of the employees detest electric cars.

Halcyon car - like much the looks. Yes is concept so production version different but if some similar would buy if all else ok functionally and produce.
There will never be another American sedan style vehicle. They are not profitable.
Chrysler is done. All they make is a minivan for people who can't buy a minivan from anyone else. Now they have nothing in the pipeline.
dont get why Chrysler and other legacy brands dont do a deal with some of the chinese brands to rebadge there EV's as Chrysler/Jeep/Ford they could even sell them the plans and make them in America its a win win in my book
GOOD NO ONE WANTS EVS IN AMERICA. ZERO CHARGES ANYWHERE PRACTICAL.😂😂😂
Looks amazing car shame on em doing nothing
Best solution
But dont bother with Chrysler
Only Dodge is worth keeping
Do a video of Honda wanting Nissan to get rid of Renault please
Most car makers are heavily indebted, so they are basically worthless.
They have an electric Charger in presale
For nowhere near the advertised price. The company took pre-orders for the base price to get their EV credits and stats padded for investors. No one will be able to buy the base model. The cheapest one will be $20-30k over base, plus the markups from the dealers.
Thats Dodge. Separate brand.
@@spudwrench82Chrysler jeep dodge ram are basically the same and are under one brand
a permanent pause
If they were smart , they never would have started working on an EV .
Your power went off for 2 days. And you think all cars should be EVs. Disaster waiting to happen
the big 3 us auto mfg. remind me of the story of the three little pigs. the only question is will one survive? chrysler is gone in my humble opinion and who is next?
I would imagine buying chrysler would be more like SAIC buying MG, it's a name people know so they trust it to buy cars
American. Never owned a Chrysler. Never considered buying a Chrysler.
If you want a minivan, there is no substitute.

Chrysler needs to just fold into Dodge, retire the name Chrysler.
So in this case Chrysler is already dead. They just don't know yet :)
what do you mean... Chrysler is dead???? Chrysler has been dead for over 40 years
40% of viewers from US. Interesting. I would have thought maybe 80%. Canadian here. What is the breakdown by Country? Continent? Area (ie.Asians)?
Chrysler is crisp😢
SOON.
Chrysler is garbage
You say this on the basis of zero knowledge.
Why is this a video? Congrats on a video one percent of American cares about.
Chrysler is done Texas 🇺🇸
At least Americans can properly pronounce Chrysler. In Asia it's pronounced Clysler....😂
We’ll all be driving Chinese made EVs anyway so why bother….. right Sam ?
Chrysler sells junk, right on the money Sam, always being fixed
I live in a small town about 1 hour south of Belvidere IL. There is still big interest in Chrysler cars like the Pacifica and 300. The Airflow was a great idea. Why the hell would they shelf it is beyond me. I know of quite a few people who drive Pacificas and love them. I think they're garbage. Stellantis should definitely sell the brand to Frank Rhodes. Atleast he would try to save it.
Chrysler is a dead brand
Government, not Governmnent.
DEI Hire Fails Again
Will somebody please build an EV comparable to a Dodge 1940s Power Wagon - you could use it as a tractor without doing it any harm. Drop all the gimmicks and comfort styling and just give me an unbreakable and unstoppable vehicle.
Yes!
Chrysler and Buick ... if we're lucky these will be the only 2 car companies left in the world after everyone else goes bankrupt. 😂
You are describing Chrysler of 1965. Chrysler has emphasized nothing but quality for a decade, while still offering features and performance.
Because not a lot of people are buying EVs in America
Chevrolet's EVs aren't that great either. The EV battery for its Rally Sport Truck, which costs $120,000, may last only 3 months! It is time to BYD❤
