A very sad day for F1, he wasn't a driver but a well respected, trusted, much loved and revered member of the F1 family nonetheless. He will be sorely missed not just now but for many years into the future; he leaves a gaping hole in the sport we all love. RIP Charlie Whiting - 1952-2019.

I've only followed F1 for a short amount of time, so I didn't know Charlie's background, but it was obvious that he had the respect of the F1 community, teams and drivers almost immediately. He was a positive and influential presence. So sorry for his passing.

Hate the fact he's on camera soooooo much... knowing you'll not see that face again, hear new words out his mouth, same goes for anyone, but more so those who appear in such good health and go so suddenly... there was no 'oh look how unwell he is' phase... one min he was there... the next he wasn't... so sad... even more so when you think he will just be replaced with 2 or 3 shills who are out for themselves rather than the good of the sport. Absolute legend and a rare breed. RIP Charlie!

Found dead. In his own room. No big warning, not in a hospital. Days, only a few until the start of the 2019 season. He never got to see it, but he’s seen quite a few races from different eras. All different in their own ways.

Indeed a sad event. My thoughts with his family.
It amazes me in this modern age with Liberty at the wheel, why he wasn't assisted on his daily duties. Perhaps he had some assistants but he was in the center of the action. Maybe he was under a lot of stress coming this new season, as everyone is in F1. At 66 you are no Superman. It is unbelievable how a top sport category still depends on one-man actions. Time to evaluate and do the proper changes Mr Sean Bratches, Chase Carey and Jean Todt. Shame on F1 for losing this man devoted to the sport. RIP Charlie Whiting.

I don't know anything about motorsport or formula 1- I'm sure it's a great loss to them. But he was a very loyal customer of ours, and such a nice guy, would always teach me something new every time he came in. He gave me great advice on my car, and I'm safer as a result. Genuinely nice guy, so sad, he had young kids as well. May he rest in peace.
