one of the last 'true' racers left in F1 management. a guy who came up thru the grassroots of the sport before it was big business....
True. Not many of his generation left who are still active in F1. rip Charlie
Rest In Peace Charlie.
Let the heavens chequered flag be with you.
10 second stop go penalty for leaving us too soon :(
no man he got disqualified :(
It was lights out for him....the chequered flag fell too soon

I can’t believe it when my dad told me this morning I thought he was joking a sad day not only for f1 but for the whole of motorsport, so respected in the paddock Charlie is irreplaceable,

I am crying.R.I.P Charlie. You will be missed in the paddock
Are u crying
Rest well Charlie. You did a great job in life.
Still can't believe he is gone RIP Charlie , so sad :-(
SkySports thanks for posting this video to the general public. A very nice tribute. RIP Mr. Whiting.
From a mechanic to an FIA Director, you have inspired us all Charlie. Rest in Peace
A very sad day for F1, he wasn't a driver but a well respected, trusted, much loved and revered member of the F1 family nonetheless. He will be sorely missed not just now but for many years into the future; he leaves a gaping hole in the sport we all love. RIP Charlie Whiting - 1952-2019.
I've only followed F1 for a short amount of time, so I didn't know Charlie's background, but it was obvious that he had the respect of the F1 community, teams and drivers almost immediately. He was a positive and influential presence. So sorry for his passing.
I feel for these guy’s too. They just lost a good friend but the show must go on.
RIP Charlie my thoughts go to his family
RIP Mr F1 - you will be missed by us fans, as well as all the teams and drivers for what you did for the sport
Thanks for the dedication and selflessness you gave this 'sport' Formula 1.
R.I.P Charlie Whiting
1952 - 2019
Such a loss, very sad.
Sad loss all round. True gent !
rest in peace charlie one of the best drivers and guys in f1
R.i.p charlie you will be sadly miss not only in f1 but the world of sport
I am absolutely shocked to hear this news that Charlie is gone. What a man to be the race director, from mechanic all the way to race director itself. Charlie Whiting will certainly be missed! RIP Charlie
Wow...that sucks so bad. RIP Charlie.
RIP Charlie what a legend
Very sad news , Mr F1 and seemed like a real gentleman 👍🇬🇧
Rest in peace Charlie. Thank you for everything you done for us & the sport we love ❤
A sad day for F1. RIP Charlie Whiting.
People say no one is irreplaceable. I think the sad loss of Mr F1 himself proves that wrong.
Hate the fact he's on camera soooooo much... knowing you'll not see that face again, hear new words out his mouth, same goes for anyone, but more so those who appear in such good health and go so suddenly... there was no 'oh look how unwell he is' phase... one min he was there... the next he wasn't... so sad... even more so when you think he will just be replaced with 2 or 3 shills who are out for themselves rather than the good of the sport. Absolute legend and a rare breed. RIP Charlie!
Found dead. In his own room. No big warning, not in a hospital. Days, only a few until the start of the 2019 season. He never got to see it, but he’s seen quite a few races from different eras. All different in their own ways.
I still can’t believe it. RIP man😞
Charlie Whiting was a true statesman. Rest In Peace. Ameeen!!!
You'll be missed Charlie.....RIP
Bless you Charlie, a true gentleman My partner and I were very fortunate to share a glass of wine with him in the paddock at the end of the day on behalf of us Thanks Charlie
RIP CHARLIE you be greatly missed by fans and the paddock
Gone too soon. RIP Mr. Whiting.
Rest in peace mr Whiting, you did a great job.
RIP Charlie Writing 1952-2019
A Great Director To Formula One
Oh no thats tragic. Rip
The feels are strong here. RIP Charlie.
R.I.P Mr F1 Australian Grand Prix should name a corner after him
Well hang on his from Britain isnt he?
@@nickprehna9404 yeah British
So would it make more scense to name a corner at silverstone after Charlie.
@@nickprehna9404 totally mate. I'd love that
RIP Mister Whiting. 😞☹️
GOD'S speed Charlie R.I.P. , the sport will go on but it will not be the same
F1 have lost a special individual, RIP Mr. W
Everyone remembers on the radio during races,I’ll ask Charlie about that
Now they can't do that anymore :( It will be not strange that some confuses the name.
Thanks Charlie.
Much Respect
Indeed a sad event. My thoughts with his family.
It amazes me in this modern age with Liberty at the wheel, why he wasn't assisted on his daily duties. Perhaps he had some assistants but he was in the center of the action. Maybe he was under a lot of stress coming this new season, as everyone is in F1. At 66 you are no Superman. It is unbelievable how a top sport category still depends on one-man actions. Time to evaluate and do the proper changes Mr Sean Bratches, Chase Carey and Jean Todt. Shame on F1 for losing this man devoted to the sport. RIP Charlie Whiting.
Damn Rest in peace Charlie
This is sad for everyone.Just concentrate on 5% of the race and the rest by talking to the teams, make processes, listen,talk,develop,travel...So sorry for this quote but:traveling, eat your hart out, be there at every moment...that takes a great part of your health and hart out.It had to happen once.....R.I.P. Mr.Whiting.
A shocker. Thinking of his family.
RIP Charlie, big loss to F1 😇😔😢
Charlie will truly be missed
We miss you Charlie
He's just irreplaceable. Literally. I mean what can F1 do now. It's _just_ not going to be the same.
RIP CHARLIE 🙏
Legend
The last of the generation that has overseen F1 since we were embryos is gone.
Yh ikr
RIP Charlie😢
Heaven is a lucky place right now ....God Bless you, we will miss you soo much
What a loss... :'(
I know everyone said it already but RIP to Charlie
I don't know anything about motorsport or formula 1- I'm sure it's a great loss to them. But he was a very loyal customer of ours, and such a nice guy, would always teach me something new every time he came in. He gave me great advice on my car, and I'm safer as a result. Genuinely nice guy, so sad, he had young kids as well. May he rest in peace.
Lets hope vettel and other f1 drivers be more respectful when they communicate in radio with race director after this. Penalising drivers are not an easy decision charlie is truly f1 hero
This interview seems way too short. Want to hear more from these two.
RIP ! 😢
RIP CHARLIE

rip charlie
When i saw this on the speedcafe website here in Australia i was a bit suprized myself.
RIP charlie, i get the feeling that his many jobs will be split up into multiple sections run by different people because i doubt any 1 man can or would do what he did
It was extremely unexpected.
From a red bull fan the sport misses him.
RIP
"you can't buy that respect" -- Ross Brawn.
The End of Formula 1. Hopefully not.
RIP Charlie Whiting.
Rest in Peace Mr. Charlie🙏🤲😇🤢
So sad!
🏁 😢
All by a sudden... :(
He was working yesterday right?
Not sure how these two kept it together given he was their friend, so so so sad :(
This truely a loss in Formula 1! We're going to mis him!
After going through that depressing comment section, want to ask a more of a lighthearted question - is this a chance for Fernando Alonso to become the FIA boss?
When I read comments under another video, I thought it was a young driver who was killed
That‘s so sad...
just imagine Lewis complaining on the radio and forgetting that Charlie isn‘t there anymore :/
RIP
Sefinho 96 What an undignified & ill mannered comment.
Lool
Maybe he is just now explaining to Jules Bianchi why he didn’t got the safety car out in that race... Rest in peace nevertheless.
Pablo T r u digging at charlie
The chequered flag waved far too soon on the life of this Motorsport legend.
RIP Charlie. You will be missed.
Wurz to replace, maybe, somehow?
He worked for the FIA
Who dislikes this?
Eric Boullier is looking for work...it makes sense.
Terrible start for struggling F1,what a bad loss and Sky has the TV rights(ppv) too, what awful news all round
