Belarusians were always way more open minded and just more kind people than Russians or Ukrainians in Poland where I live. I guess it's just because of our bad history between Poland, Ukraine and Russia.
Yea, they had a major democratic uprising a few years ago and nearly accomplished regime change even though they had no help, whatsoever, from allies in the government. The idea that Britain has ever "tried to destroy" Belarus is bizarre. The vast majority would barely have heard of the place before the current war, and we have never had any interests there. First of all, Minsk is a lovely city and even out in the countryside, I found it to be a pleasant life (this is politics aside, of course, and the situation there is one of the most unfortunate). Secondly, the people I talked to-albeit it in my mix of English and very basic Russian-were kind, honest, hardworking, and hospitable. It's my belief that Belarus has the potential in terms of resources, industry, industriousness, geographical location, and human capital to one day be one of the leading countries in Europe. If they're allowed to be, that is. All of that is reflecting here in the majority of this video. Would happily visit again and hope everything there will be as the majority of the people wish.

Same in Poland - old People are against EU, and see in EU some kind of threat for their country independence... And they never been abroad! Young are very pro-EU and usually they travel much more. In Belarus apparently old People miss communism as they were living in better standard (time has changed a lot), and they cannot adjust to new reality.
@@romanz9342 ruZbot detected
@@romanz9342 there already was an American block at their border, or the border of their allies and sympathisers. Norway, west Germany, Greece and Turkey from NATOs inception.
Conversely, if we turn the tables, NATO today respect the sovereignty of Russian sympathisers like Venezuela, Cuba, Kaliningrad, Serbia, and Armenia, who currently are directly on NATOs border. Safe? Not at all. Especially after the introduction of a new law, according to which enemies of the state can be deprived of property and children, and sentenced to death in any court. The definition of "enemy of the state" is not specified, so it can be anyone.
Also to be deprived of your house, car, other property and children it is not necessary to be an enemy of the state, it's enough just to say anything that could "discredit" the state(and specifically the dictator) or ruin the reputation of an allied state - russia.
