Scott Porter was the original beat-boxer of VP, before he left for his acting career and Layne took that position. So it's only fitting the 2 of them have that little beat-boxing duel between red and blue.
Enjoyed this so much! I love seeing people appreciate VoicePlay. You may know this already, but The Charismatic Voice did an interview with the original composer of the Halo theme and he loved VP's cover.
Loved your enthusiastic reaction- thanks! I knew you would slowly become a "Voice Player" as you share a lot of the same interests and experience as the members of Voice Play. You will love "Dragonborn Comes" and "My Mother Told Me" (from Assassins Creed).
I want to second the recommendation for Boy Bands in 5 Minutes. Rek walks through the set and passed off the sandwich to the guys standing around the fire-barrel. Also, the four other people the camera switches over to for a moment are the guys' spouses and girlfriend. The short one on the right is Kathy Castellucci, Geoff's wife. Her brother and niece also make appearances in VoicePlay videos.
Glad you stayed for the outro - too many reactors cut it off or maybe don't even watch it, and it is such an emotional end to the video. 06:27 Those two low notes that Geoff hits are the lowest he's hit in a video to date - both start off at B0 subharmonic, then quickly come up to B1. If you're not familiar with how low a B0 is, take a look at a piano keyboard. The white key 2nd from left (low end) of the piano is a B0 - so Geoff is almost off the low end of a piano with those notes!
WOW! I've lost a lot of music information over the years haha. I'm gaining some of it back...I can't wait to hear more and bring it everyone. Much Love, Sarge
The fact is, too, many people can hit a B0 subharmonic (my low daily subharmonic is an F#0), but just something about Geoff's subharmonics that hit different from anyone I have ever heard. Listen to this through a 12" or larger subwoofer sometime. When he starts off with the E1, it's amazing, then he drops to the B0 and everything literally feels like an earthquake. Also, with a large subwoofer, the B0 never completely gets taken over by the B1 primary note the way it does in headphones.
You noticed the stomp, but evidentially didn’t recognize the significance. Those shoes were a pair of extremely limited edition shoes that were commissioned by Microsoft for a Halo anniversary. (Like about 200 pairs). They were given out to execs and other VIPs. Scott was given a pair as recognition of his work on their video games. (And also an extra pair he could auction off for his charity.)
So glad you stuck around for the outro! Scott Porter is a very successful actor in Hollywood but was their original beatboxer. The group started professionally right out of high school in 1997. I am not a gamer, but appreciate the musical magic that Voiceplay has. The outro told us so much about their character as a group and as individuals. Wonderful! I hope you will react to their version of The Dragonborn Comes (Skyrim), it is amazing.
@@SargeStreams They have also done a charming cover of 'Still Alive' from Halo that most reactors overlook. It's 2 or 3 years old at this point, but it's still fantastic, if not as epic as this one or The Dragonborn Comes.
@@SargeStreams thank you for a priceless reaction to Voice Play. Voice Plays cover of The Dragonborn Comes Skyrim is coming up on Wednesday ? I can't wait, thank you. Please add their cover of..Dream On.. as well.❤️
I second the suggestion that you check out Charismatic Voice’s reaction-she sometimes brings guests on and this time it was the guy who wrote the Halo Theme. His thoughts on Voiceplay’s version were really interesting. And while this may not be quite up your alley, Voiceplay has a song, Boy Bands in Five Minutes (I’m not into boy bands that much but I really enjoy this piece-it’s a lot of fun). You’ll get a brief cameo by Rek, along with the spouses of some of the members. Great reaction-looking forward to more!!
Glad to see someone discovering Voiceplay! You're a gamer so check out their cover of Enemy from Imagine Dragons, and Arcane League of Legends It is insane! The Dragonborn Comes from Skyrim is brilliant as well as My Mother Told Me from AC Valhalla. Voiceplay kills it every time :)
You might want to check out their minis & shorts. Layne arranged a whole series of them awhile back that were focused on machine/computer noises. All the sounds that voices aren't supposed to make. I made a guess that they'd find their way into the standard work, because suddenly it wasn't just Layne making these sounds, but the whole group.... but then Layne did Halo and just blew us all away. A fascinating way of skill building... while putting out some really fun short pieces.
Love your reaction. :) For a completely different Voiceplay experience, there is an old ACA top 10 video games they did. It's a lot of fun and shows a lot of their sense of humor. A great trip down memory lane for gen-xers. :)
Brilliant reaction, knew you would love this one! I can only second everyone else's suggestions, you can't go wrong any of them. Very much looking forward to your next reaction, thanks! 🙂👍
thoroughly enjoying your journey down the Voice Play trail, another great reaction. as you are a gamer, you really have to check out their cover of The Dragonborn Comes, Skyrim. you'll love it for sure.
Glad you enjoyed this! Voiceplay has done some other great video game videos - Still Alive from Portal, Dragonborn Comes from Skyrim, and their Aca Top 10 Video Game Themes compilation come to mind.
I like your both your personality and reactions. I was waiting to subscribe to see what you might do next. Subscribed! Second the Boy Bands and Dragonborn! Also second The Charismatic Voice as definitely worth it for her interview with the Halo creator. I was pretty much lost in Boy bands after the Jackson 5 (showing my age) but it led me to check out the other groups. I think that is what I appreciate about Voiceplay the most - they take songs in genres I would not have listened to and make them not only fresh, but leave you wanting to hear the oringinals. My musical universe has expanded quite bit now. Whatever you do - continue to have fun!
Thank you Jan for the kind words. I can’t wait to get to all of these and other artists as well. More coming soon…see the community post to know what’s on tap for most of the week 😉
I just KNEW you'd love this one! Right up your alley. Please do Enemy - Imagine Dragons (Arcane League Of Legends) | Feat. AleXa (acapella) next! Great reaction!
Please check out an older video (2015?) called ACA Top Ten Video Games. Not technically singing, but more sound effects. Has two former members Tony Wakim Top left and Earl Elkins Jr bottom. Geoff had short hair back then.
As a gamer you have got to hear Dragonborn and Enemy. Dragonborn was my ultimate favorite until they did Nothing Else Matters. Dragonborn will raise goosebumps everywhere. Fun fact; Cesar is wearing 20 pounds of REAL chain mail for it.
Thank you! I have since slightly changed it and balanced the sound a little better but still same concept 😄. I appreciate the kind comment as for reactions I’ve only been doing this 2 months (was a gaming only channel previously)
Check out Charismatic Voice's reaction.... with a special guest you'd enjoy.
You like this one, check out Dragonborn Comes/Skyrim.

Geoff does hit 2 B0s in this. If you haven't seen Dragonborn Comes Skyrim, check it out. Definitely another game and spectacular as well.
