    Look at a Rasta they hair grows uncontrollably so that rumor def isn't true.. my hair grows slot n I've noticed the length after I started regular weekly head massages and a dreadlock shampoo that was a little tingly to the breeze it let my dreads breath a lot n they definitely thanked me for it

    I've never heard that dreadlocks made hair fall out or stop growing. It is largely known for promoting hair growth which is why many people sport them. The whole reason black people created this style was to protect their hair and help it grow. So Im confused about the title....

    • @judilynn9569
      @judilynn9569 4 года назад +6

      Black people didn't "create" locs to protect anything. It's what kinky hair does when left alone. They are the result of extremely curly strands of hair twisting into and around each other. The only thing done in modern times is keeping them separated and uniform in size. They are not a fad. They are the result of natural hair texture.

    • @mishyelharper4889
      @mishyelharper4889 4 года назад +5

      @@judilynn9569 Locs were used as a protective style. They help keep kinky hair healthy and they support hair growth. As a person who has extremely kinky hair, leaving hair the way it is doesn't always cause dreadlocks. It usually causes hair to get even more tangled than it is in its natural state and causes it to look misshapen. The definition of a fad is a liking of something that is widely shared. Therefore, dreads are a fad. That's not all they are, they have lots of cultural history but they're still a fad.

    • @hereisajakualin4344
      @hereisajakualin4344 4 года назад

      Dreadlocks are what happens when hair is left alone. The curlier the hair the quicker it dreads. And when the hair isn't done right, dreads that are to big or heavy or dreaded unevenly they can rip out hair or break it. But other then that....maybe people misunderstand when the brush their locks out that the hair loss is natural because we apparently loose 100 strains of hair every day. So the longer you have locks in the more shocking it'll look

    If you apply your products right after the shower while your hair is soaking wet your hair will look much more defined and less frizzy. Your hair looks lovely now, I just know from my own experience that if I leave my hair in a towel for that long without any products it makes the styling afterwards not so helpful.
    What I've been doing lately, since I also live in a cold climate where I can't be going out with hair wet, is that I style my hair first (distribute the product by raking it through my hair in each section, then scrunch), then I scrunch my curls with the microfiber towel, and then I put my hair (after being styled) back up in the same microfiber towel for like 15 minutes at most. That helps get rid of the water so my hair is only a bit damp after and can dry faster. Because the towel is a good material, it doesn't make my hair overly frizzy doing that either.
    I would really suggest applying your products after the shower, makes a huge difference for all curl types (regardless if wavy, curly, or kinky).

  • @theMermaidRhonda

    When I started my long hair journey I did a LOT of research. Some of the things I do are never using heat, using a satin pillowcase, and micro fiber towels (I use a micro fiber turbie twist). I also use products that are free of sulfates, parabens and silicones. Your hair is looking amazing! Get yourself a water bottle and make sure your hair is really wet when you add product to it (as Deutsch ist Liebe said) and it will also help with curl definition. Once I started really taking good care of my hair, it started growing really fast. For years it was barely past my shoulders...now it's to my rear! Yours will get there, too, faster than you think. :)

    My whole life I’ve always had a lot of hair. People always comment on how fast it grows and how thick. I’m going to also be 58 in October and don’t even have gray hair yet. I see a few little ones underneath around my ear/sideburns area but maybe 5 strands if that. I love L’Ange products and use them daily. They have a thick cream you put through your hair while wet and when you blow dry it brings the hair away from your scalp for thickness. Your hair is doing wonderful. I’ve followed every video for 6 yrs now! Love your channel ♥️

    Number one thing is to make sure your shampoo and conditioner is free of Sulfates and Silicones itis super important because they are so bad for your hair and will dry it out. Wash and rinse with cold water, use hair masks that are also free of silicone, use a leave in conditioner after the shower while your hair is damp. Using no heat is great you can try heatless curling methods to make your curls more defined. But also sleep with a satin hair cap!!! It will take away sooo much frizz from your hair its makes it feel sooo soft and adds alot of shine you will love it!!!

    Its about how you take care or your locs. Using the right products and not shampoos that strip the moisture out of your hair. I had locks for 6 years. When I cut them off the new growth was heathly. I used a sheabutter like conditioner to give it an extra boost. Its also important to not sleep with your hair unprotected. Cotton fabrics absorb moisture; oils and other products you may have just put in your hair.. Oh and beeswax twisting loc. sucks, in my opinion.

    I have really frizzy and curly hair like you Elise. I feel like tea tree products are very good for my scalp but it makes my hair so much more frizzy and dry.
    How I really tackle my hair is I use Moroccan argan oil shampoo from Dr organic. Also I've done a treatment for my hair at the hair dressers where she used a machine which cuts off all the split ends from top to bottom of my hair to bottom, this made my hair so easy to brush and maintain. She also did a treatment where she put vitamins inside my hair through steam: helped my hair grow and its super smooth and soft and still so curly. I think it would be amazing on you hair Elise 😊.

    Shaking my head at this. 1. Hair does not stop growing unless the folicles die for some reason. You lost length from breakage, especially when you ravaged your extremely tangled hair with a brush. 2. Your scalp suffered because of the oils you naturally produce yhat got trapped while you weren't combing your hair daily.
    3. When you force your hair to do things that are unnatural for your genome, you're going to have problems. Straight hair doesn't "loc". That's your first clue. Hair grows and stays healthy in it's natural state.
    * I've worn locs (nothing dreadful) for 21 years - as of today - and they reach the back of my thighs. I've trimmed them twice over the years. No scalp problems and my hair grew long quickly. Why? Because they are in line with my natural texture.
    Nothing you do unnaturally is going to give the greatest results for long.

      @@RUclipsaccccount No, straight hair "tangles". There is a huge aesthetic difference. An ongoing confusion is identifying straight tangled hair as locs. They aren't. "Locs" happen when tight curls lock into themselves causing a cylindrical tendril. That can't happen if there is no tight curl pattern. A visual comparison quickly demonstrates this.
