Even the engagement for Apple Black on online bookstores and social media decreases drastically after the first volume which indicates that most customers just drop it there and don’t even bother with the rest of the volumes. If Saturday AM’s goal was to become the “Shonen Jump” of the West and for Apple Black to be the face of it, they failed miserably. Apple Black is simply a flop. Its super generic and reads like an amateur shonen (not including the art). Its dialogue is poor, its characters aren’t well written, there’s info dumps everywhere that make the reader space out and the message of the story though not bad is executed in an awkward way. Pointing all of this out is not “hateful” as SA claim. Imo Apple Black had a lot of potential and easily could’ve been on par story wise with Shonen’s biggest titles (Whyt already had the art down). The story concept and world building was good. The recipe for greatness and success was there, but Whyt was too full of himself to critique his own work, let alone take critique from others when he had the chance. Now it’s too late for any proper remaster for Apple Black, and Fred has further ruined the series with his “diversity” agenda. Marketing wise, shouldn’t he know that those ideas are very unpopular in the west right now? If you're referring to presentation it's some of the best from indi manga. The stroy is just mid at best and doesn't grab you. But saying it doesn't meet shonen standards is dead wrong.

If i was Whyt Manga, this video would be hella motivation to pop off and keep doing my work. The dude has his work in libraries now, covering shelves, his own company, a huge audience for this scene and is in the middle of finally making his dream series. I've been a fan of Whyt for literal years and have never once thought "This shit is too woke." I just got and read volume 3 and to be honest it's exactly what I wanna see in a battle shounen. Hella action, hella characters, hella connections and intricate/interesting world building. A tad too many speech bubbles here and there, but you can really argue the same for certain chapters of mainstream manga. I have every intention of copping volumes 4 and 5 and personally don't see any issues with him having Black/Diverse characters. They're fantastic character designs and they aren't even main characters so odds are they're liable to have minimal impact on the story beyond a dedicated arc, which I don't think should be considered problematic. Real talk people say something is too woke when they mean it's "Too Black for me.". I don't see Whyt as attempting to be the next big mangaka, but more so just a very solid one. Truthfully his story so far feels different than the stories I'm used to in manga and I seriously love the characters. Sano is an interesting protagonist to me, especially considering how "all powerful" he's suppose to be, only to find out his first fight in the series is revealed to have been one his enemy let him win for narrative purposes and then watching him get packed up in volume 3 by the first big bad we're introduced to. Best wishes to him where ever he ends up. Apple Black is great and I hope to see it keep growing. Don't know anything about Saturday AM or Fredrick being trash, but in the end I just care to see Whyt getting the success and recognition he deserves.

You are right about subscribers/followers not equating to sales, but in Whyt Manga's defense, most people don't post videos on RUclips. Most probably just thought "huh, I haven't seen videos from Whyt Manga in a while" and that's it. They’ve existed since at least as for back as 2014 if memory serves me right. This is why Koffee might sound “pessimistic” about Whyt’s future. Because when you know Whyt, you can’t help but be pessimistic about any potential he might have because he’s literally blind to how Saturday AM is hindering his career as a manga artist. I do hope Whyt dumps Fred and SA and rebrands but we have to face the likeliest possibility which is that he won’t.
I became a fan of WhytManga way back before Apple Black. He was an artist for another guys story and his art caught my attention then he decided to make his own story. His art alone was enough to get me to buy vol 1 but in the end the story was so mediocre. I was still on board to see what came next but I started to notice the dei stuff keeping in and I had a brief conversation with Fred that let me see clearly what his focus was on and non of it was interesting to me. I wish the best for Whyt he’s worked hard but maybe it’s time to refocus all that energy.
This should be a good example to other artists channels on why you should never have channel that is followed and number by bots bec crap like this happened to your channel (good note for me because I'm starting one soon) and I'm not buying views and subs bec can lead to this what a shame

I used to watch whyt manga’s videos which led to me reading the first book. I honestly thought that it wasn’t as great as all the reviews say. There was too much dialogue to many speech bubbles. There were entire pages with just straight exposition. I had to skip around curtain pages. And if the first book only had the art going for it then why would i pick up the second book? It felt more like someone that wanted to make a shonen jump manga, the next one piece, Naruto, etc, instead of telling a genuine story.
Yea no offense but I read up to Apple Black Volume 4 and by then they already had a battle/war arc, had about 35 characters, and Sano already became a “god” and was stronger than Cesar, the main antagonist of the arc. If he redid the story now it maybe would’ve been better but I’m probably not picking up Volume 5 when it drops.
My disappointment reading volume 1 was immeasurable. Like you said, so much exposition dump from beginning to end. The story and characters felt more like concepts. The art is so cool - this blend between MHA, One Punchman, and Bleach - mad amounts of talent and dedication - but I don’t know if I’ll ever get around to reading volumes 2, 3, and 4.

If you think about it, why would someone want to hack such a small channel. There's no reason for someone to hack whyt except if they got the channel info from him directly. Whyt was the first guy I saw making his own manga and I was interested, and when i saw videos on him explaining who Sano was and what his power was, I automatically thought, typical shounen protagonist who's overpowered, basically an isekai protagonist, so it was a no for me. Then he went to Saturday AM, I was happy for him. Then I saw big dog Koffee's video "Is Apple Black woke?" You hit it on the nose, man. Fred basically told Whyt to diversify his story; Opal never existed, and there werent as many POC before. I'm happy for him and how far he has gotten, but I think this is a sign for him to leave Saturday AM and start somewhere fresh. Because at this point, he's only pushing the DEI agenda.

Whyt manga is a case of a hollow channel. A channel with hundreds of thousands subscribers but very low video view counts. A long time ago Whyt was the one of the only guys on youtube who could made something resembling manga, not the gringo "manga" like Markcreilly was doing. But nowadays hes not relevant. I tried reading his "manga" but its amateur. A shame since he had good designs and interesting power system. Only Japanese can make manga. I hope gringos stop trying to steal it, stick to comics.

I've been attending manga making class, and I checked this Apple Black, and this is what I noticed in Whyt's manga. Every character has the same point of view, emotion, characteristics, vibe, and attitude. It's like everyone is trying to be cool; I don't know why it doesn't have the "wow factor" that the action comic should have. The art is mid, the character design is mid, the storytelling is mid, the plot is generic, and there's nothing special about it. Whyt needs to study how to write a proper story; he needs to know how to write different characters's pov. Sano being OP makes it more predictable; the moment you tell people that the MC is the strongest, it's over. There's no story to tell anymore.

I've been a fan of Whyt for literal years and have never once thought "This shit is too woke." I just got and read volume 3 and to be honest it's exactly what I wanna see in a battle shounen. Hella action, hella characters, hella connections and intricate/interesting world building. A tad too many speech bubbles here and there, but you can really argue the same for certain chapters of mainstream manga. I have every intention of copping volumes 4 and 5 and personally don't see any issues with him having Black/Diverse characters. They're fantastic character designs and they aren't even main characters so odds are they're liable to have minimal impact on the story beyond a dedicated arc, which I don't think should be considered problematic. Real talk people say something is too woke when they mean it's "Too Black for me.". I don't see Whyt as attempting to be the next big mangaka, but more so just a very solid one. Truthfully his story so far feels different than the stories I'm used to in manga and I seriously love the characters. Sano is an interesting protagonist to me, especially considering how "all powerful" he's suppose to be, only to find out his first fight in the series is revealed to have been one his enemy let him win for narrative purposes and then watching him get packed up in volume 3 by the first big bad we're introduced to. Best wishes to him where ever he ends up. Apple Black is great and I hope to see it keep growing. Don't know anything about Saturday AM or Fredrick being trash, but in the end I just care to see Whyt getting the success and recognition he deserves.

You are right about subscribers/followers not equating to sales, but in Whyt Manga's defense, most people don't post videos on RUclips. Most probably just thought "huh, I haven't seen videos from Whyt Manga in a while" and that's it. Added with the fact that his views were reducing before the hack, it makes sense that the reaction isn't as huge.

I used to love his channel and was deeply inspired then I read apple black and...I hated it the writing was terrible. And its sad cuz Whyt is a good artist and has the potential to make a good manga, I do believe he needs to start over and learn the fundamentals of storywriting!! Honestly He can use this opportunity to rebrand and improve
I agree his art his amazing. His only weakness is storytelling which he could definitely improve on. He has a LOT of potential but the sad reality is that he’ll probably just ignore this advice and stay with Saturday AM. Koffee’s criticisms of Whyt and SA aren’t new. They’ve existed since at least as for back as 2014 if memory serves me right. This is why Koffee might sound “pessimistic” about Whyt’s future. Because when you know Whyt, you can’t help but be pessimistic about any potential he might have because he’s literally blind to how Saturday AM is hindering his career as a manga artist. I do hope Whyt dumps Fred and SA and rebrands but we have to face the likeliest possibility which is that he won’t.
Man he used to be so Strong early on, but then wokeness brought weakness to him and ruined the foundation of Apple black.
I became a fan of WhytManga way back before Apple Black. He was an artist for another guys story and his art caught my attention then he decided to make his own story. His art alone was enough to get me to buy vol 1 but in the end the story was so mediocre. I was still on board to see what came next but I started to notice the dei stuff keeping in and I had a brief conversation with Fred that let me see clearly what his focus was on and non of it was interesting to me. I wish the best for Whyt he’s worked hard but maybe it’s time to refocus all that energy.

I used to watch whyt manga’s videos which led to me reading the first book. I honestly thought that it wasn’t as great as all the reviews say. There was too much dialogue to many speech bubbles. There were entire pages with just straight exposition. I had to skip around curtain pages. And if the first book only had the art going for it then why would i pick up the second book? It felt more like someone that wanted to make a shonen jump manga, the next one piece, Naruto, etc, instead of telling a genuine story.
Yea no offense but I read up to Apple Black Volume 4 and by then they already had a battle/war arc, had about 35 characters, and Sano already became a “god” and was stronger than Cesar, the main antagonist of the arc. If he redid the story now it maybe would’ve been better but I’m probably not picking up Volume 5 when it drops.
My disappointment reading volume 1 was immeasurable. Like you said, so much exposition dump from beginning to end. The story and characters felt more like concepts. The art is so cool - this blend between MHA, One Punchman, and Bleach - mad amounts of talent and dedication - but I don’t know if I’ll ever get around to reading volumes 2, 3, and 4.

Whyt was the first guy I saw making his own manga and I was interested, and when i saw videos on him explaining who Sano was and what his power was, I automatically thought, typical shounen protagonist who's overpowered, basically an isekai protagonist, so it was a no for me. Then he went to Saturday AM, I was happy for him. Then I saw big dog Koffee's video "Is Apple Black woke?" You hit it on the nose, man. Fred basically told Whyt to diversify his story; Opal never existed, and there werent as many POC before.
I'm happy for him and how far he has gotten, but I think this is a sign for him to leave Saturday AM and start somewhere fresh. Because at this point, he's only pushing the DEI agenda.
@TheBookman-s2n nothing is wrong with it, Marvel and DC have poc in their comics and we are fine with it. You can make a manga/comic company without saying "the place for diverse manga", it's just too much. You don't see Marvel, DC, Koffee's company Onsoru-Go, Shrine Comics, etc saying diverse manga on their website... it's just manga/comics. What I'm trying to say is you don't have to advertise DEI in your manga/comic company.

Whyt manga is a case of a hollow channel. A channel with hundreds of thousands subscribers but very low video view counts. A long time ago Whyt was the one of the only guys on youtube who could made something resembling manga, not the gringo "manga" like Markcreilly was doing. But nowadays hes not relevant. I tried reading his "manga" but its amateur. A shame since he had good designs and interesting power system. Only Japanese can make manga. I hope gringos stop trying to steal it, stick to comics.

I've been attending manga making class, and I checked this Apple Black, and this is what I noticed in Whyt's manga. Every character has the same point of view, emotion, characteristics, vibe, and attitude. It's like everyone is trying to be cool; I don't know why it doesn't have the "wow factor" that the action comic should have. The art is mid, the character design is mid, the storytelling is mid, the plot is generic, and there's nothing special about it. Whyt needs to study how to write a proper story; he needs to know how to write different characters's pov. Sano being OP makes it more predictable; the moment you tell people that the MC is the strongest, it's over. There's no story to tell anymore.

No one talks about it until it makes a good run in it's first arcs. If Apple Black is really that good that you are talking about, it would've been adapted into anime in its first 2 - 3 yeara of serialization. You're just a bias fan of whyt, just because you are a comic artist in japan you can publish your work in shonen. Shonen is the biggest publisher in japan but only, ONLY THE GOODS COMICS are allowed to be publish there. Some author make their way to the top by self-publishing their work, and if the story is good, the art is appealing then you'll success.
