The problem is the movie isn't shot in Beirut, and there's not a single Lebanese actor in it. It was shot in Morocco, hence all the desert scenes and the Moroccan actors
It's not dangerous at all...The crime rate in Lebanon is much lower than Central America, South America, South Africa and some American cities etc. Plenty of movies are shot in Lebanon including a couple of Lebanese movies which have been/are nominated for the Oscars/Cannes. I think Hollywood just doesn't bother about authenticity or they do it on purpose
I think Jon Ham's juiciest role since Mad Men was in Baby Driver. he was surprisingly great as a sinister hit man while also being super likable. I think he' AMAZING in that movie. Hopefully he's good in this too.
I'd like to see Hollywood portray modern day Beirut/Lebanon for a change, yea we went through a war but that's in the past. I'm so exhausted with these portrayals that I'm not even going to entertain the idea of watching this since it screams cliché to me.
Jon Hamm was the lead in that Disney movie from a couple years ago, Million Dollar Arm, or something, he goes to India to get some cricket players to play baseball.
Bob Smithies the Americans, so skiles and the cia woman traded the older brother for the captured agent, but Israeli special forces sniped the older brother because he would have been an enemy to Israel (he was Palestinian)
My comment is brought to you by Pepsi. 'Pepsi, you've got a lot to live., Pepsi's got a lot to give'. My comment is I will watch anything with Rosamund Pike in it.

Yes, I LOVED those guys hosting. Maybe they're too expensive for the show, though. I actually hate Michael Phillips' written work, but find him so funny when he does this kind of movie review show.
I knew Ben was going make an appearance for this one. Sadly was I was promised good ole fashioned spy craft from start to finish. Apparently I was missinformed
He really does seem to keep it together for a guy who’s always drinking. He didn’t seem to suffer any consequences for his drinking, and quit cold turkey when he had to take over the situation. It was nice to see Hamm doing something other than comedic cameos.
Also... none of the actors or extras seem to be lebanese... they dont even lebanese arabic accents.... and it looks nothing like beirut or lebanon :/ hollywood.
Anybody else think that Rosemund Pike's lack of under eyelids was distracting? I mean bad on the casting director and the make up artists to allow so much botox or whatever.
My reply to you is brought to you by Orville Redenbacher Popcorn. 'Do one Thing, and Do it Better than Anyone Else'. My reply is, I agree with you. The show used to be ad free. What's changed? Greed?

It's not a particularly safe place to film.
You don't know what you're talking about...
Even you don't believe that. Maybe think things through before you type.
How can you film there? Isn't it dangerous?

Ian Smart He was also great in Black Mirror.
He was kind of a cartoon character in Baby Driver.
Baby Driver is an absolutely shitty movie.
Thought this movie was pretty good, wasn’t bored at any point. Going to recommend to my dad

I absolutely loved Michael Clayton. Will likely check this out.
SultanofSmash Good luck.
What happened at the end when they were doing the deal ? I did not understand what happened.

Would be cool if you could review THE INSULT - Oscar-nominated Lebanese movie in the Foreign Language category
Yay for Jon Hamm!
Do the Americans save us again?
Saw it yesterday. Agree with Ben on all the points but I liked it even less. No tension. Oh well. Thank you MoviePass

Two hosts of roger Ebert presents. But you are missing one from the best version either a.o. Scott or Michael Phillips

Beirut = Spiritual Prequel to Showtime's Homeland.
I heard they're already in talks with Samuel L for the sequel
Does anyone else think Hamm is Mike Rowe's identical twin?

I wonder, could Hamm pull off a darker take on Jack Ryan.
Was any of the scenes actually shot in Beirut ?
nope it was all shot in morocco
.... I see .....

Who fucking cares
@@aprilbradey3154 it’s set in the 1980s... I’m sure Lebanon looked war torn then. Like the holiday inn hotel.
Christy doesn't need these weirdos. She should have her own channel.
Abzekh01 not in that outfit. sorry ‘bout it...
Nice to see how far Eli got after Boardwalk Empire
NjK I'm amazed to see he's lived for that long
love Ben.
You know, there is a country south of Lebanon, called Israel. Is there a problem to say Israeli(es?)?
We are smart enough to circumvent Ad blockers by just saying ads into the microfone now, no wonder we humans are the kings of creation.
I agree, I didn’t give af about the hostage. Awful character development. Terrible screenplay
Propaganda film

I miss this show with no ads
the world doesn't run on sunshines and rainbows; when you grow up and become an adult you'll realize
rhn94 chill the fuck out dude.

Also fun to be first AND second to comment
Ughhh I hated Michael Clayton
It was a good film. Agree with Ben, it's actually a perfect film.
Hate Michael Clayton-you must hate double rainbows as well...
I was thinking of Syriana, that I hated. Michael Clayton was just mehhh.
You 2 did an intelligent job with reviewing this film and I thank you. Christy please be careful with your potty mouth.
