Yes, I was going to say the same thing. I genuinely think Succession is one of the most poignant looks into the ultra-rich in our current organization of the economy; not only does the show weave the macro level of oppression, inequality of wealth, and how the rich constantly step on those below them for the sake of power. It similarly shows the personal side of this oppression; every. single. character in Succession punches down constantly, even if they purportedly want to do the "right" thing for the world. The kind of power they wield and the system they enable makes it nearly impossible for them to do the right thing.
What I like about the show is how it relentlessly critiques and humanizes everyone. A lesser show would've made the Pierces these perfect paragons who call out the Roys to their face and redeem Shiv to take down the patriarchy, but this show is more honest about it, showing how people like the Pierces are philanthropic and all but they're also incredibly indecisive and hands-off about everything, and too boujouse and out-of-touch to accurately say _what kind_ of "fucked up" the Roys are.
The acting on this show is next level. Very similar to The Big Short where there’s a lot of serious moments but most of the show is like a dark comedy. She is INCREDIBLE as Shiv and Strong and Cox are next level. Kieran is so damn brilliant as well. All SO good!
I can't even believe that is the person playing Shiv! Wow. This person is warm, tender, and full of happiness. She smiles a lot!! It's like the complete opposite of Shiv, for sure. Shiv is a wonderful character! Perfectly played by Ms Snook. I love all the characters - amazing cast. SO much talent! (I have to say my favourite character is Roman - perfect douche bag) Shiv's wardrobe is amazing. It's exactly my taste in that environment. 'Wanna-bes' take note: ZERO labels and logos. _That is CLASS_
Shiv is a feminist and plays by her own rules. Men will hate her because she's too strong willed and dominant. The character she plays is not what most males like in women and feel threatened by women like this.
@@brads.7525 I don't think Shiv is a feminist... She has some more liberal leanings (like not wanting waystar to buy out all the news) but not anything particularly feminist about any of her ideas. She's not looking out for other women. She experiences misogyny and speaks out for herself but that's just how it goes when you're a woman and not a complete idiot (like those women who dream of being 50s hausfraus). Feminism would require her to actually care or act in favor of other women besides herself. She's more of a pragmatic survivalist. There's something feministoc about the depiction of a female antihero who the writers dare to make flawed and at times unlikable but she's not a depiction OF a feminist. An idealised portrayal of a feminist is someone like Amy Poehler's character in parks and recreation, who actually supports other women. A realistic depiction would be someone like the protagonist of Booksmart who is a feminist but also has limitations, like saying she supports women but actually calls a girl she doesn't like a slut because she's getting laid when the protagonist isn't and wants to.
@@brads.7525 I think the issue men would have with her is how manipulative she is with her husband. Telling your spouse that you want an open marriage on your wedding night is dark. She even calls him her employee to a man she’s about to screw.
Ironically, I totally get Shiv and root for her but my sister _hates_ her ass because she ain't loyal and treats poor Tom like shit; as a guy I find Tom weak and insufferable. Yeah Shiv fucked him up but at the same time she _is_ out of his league. I like that she's a ruthless killer in sheep's clothing and my sister likes that Tom's a hot mess who's trying his best. To me the gender angle here is a lot more nuanced and grey than just "girlbosses got haters"
I honestly think that Shiv lost her credibility as a Successor when she embarrassed her father in The Tern Haven's Dinner by trying to force him to announce her as the next CEO, that was a very childish move, what went between her and Logan was in private not even in front of her brothers let alone bluntly spill it in front a potential sellers, Logan will be stupid if he let this behavior go and chose her at the end
How could she be held to higher moral standards? She literally scared a rape victim out of pressing charges AND asked her husband if she could be in an open relationship the night of her wedding. These two things are by far the least justifiable and most hurtful actions of any of these horrible characters
Beautiful in every way. Loved her and ALL the actors in The Beautiful Lie! Great Australian acting. Watched Succession because she was in it and having see Brian Cox in a play… I knew quality will be delivered… beyond all my expectations. Great cast, great script. Thank you

She's very smart and she gets the show in a way not a lot of people do ( Well I know she's basically the actress but still 😂). That's my Golden Globe winner, luv her.
Shiv’s whole mask came off in E08! Guess she doesn’t stand for being sidelined for the important plays. I really dig Snook’s non-verbal acting. The curves don’t hurt neither!
her pointing out the misogyny shiv faces in the show was therapeutic for me 😅 so many times i’ve watched one of the roys say something sexist and i’m screaming “SPEAK UP SHIV” 😂
A lot of people will roll their eyes at this and say no, it’s not always about gender. But those are the same people who lack the awareness of just how deeply ingrained sexism is in all of us (men, women, progressive, conservative etc). People are more easily triggered/irritated by female characters than male characters, plain and simple.
Wrong. It’s because she starts off as the acceptable face, the outsider who is supposed to be relatively normal and relatable. Kinda like the cool, gentle sister. When she gets a sniff of the top job, she goes full into manoeuvring mode and turns into a proper, nasty Roy. Everyone knows Ken and Roman are pieces of shit from the start.
@@ironsideeve2955 you’re kinda proving op’s point, Ken and Roman were nasty from the beginning and for them it’s ok but when Shiv becomes ambitious as well and wants the company and starts to get her hands dirty she becomes the most hated character meanwhile the other two have been doing the same and no one bats an eye. Sarah is right, Shiv is facing double standards, she and her brothers are all the same, the all have the same goal, but somehow Shiv became insufferable when she starts to want more, when she drops the ‘acceptable face’

People were disappointed bc she wasn’t behaving how she was supposed, bc they expected her to be the good one, the moral one but why? Why can’t she go for the company like her brothers? Why can’t she get her hands dirty like everyone has been doing since day 1? Greg also was introduced as good but did some nasty things for the company as well, but he gets a pass.. Also I don’t think she is an hypocrite, she stayed in politics bc she didn’t want to have anything to do with the family business in the past, but the fact that she wants it now doesn’t make her and hypocrite, also just because she had and alternative doesn’t mean that she had to take it
she's so warm and lovely, so different from shiv. what a great actress
She's mega self-aware🥰😍
Wonderful actress in an excellent role
I genuinely think Succession is one of the most poignant looks into the ultra-rich in our current organization of the economy; not only does the show weave the macro level of oppression, inequality of wealth, and how the rich constantly step on those below them for the sake of power. It similarly shows the personal side of this oppression; every. single. character in Succession punches down constantly, even if they purportedly want to do the "right" thing for the world. The kind of power they wield and the system they enable makes it nearly impossible for them to do the right thing.
@RUclips Account Way to add nothing to the conversation! You are the platonic ideal of a RUclips commenter lmao
@@jorgemartinez42069 Platonic? 😂
@@deniseg4028do you know what the word “platonic” means?
Sarah Snook was born to be Shiv. She is amazing. I love her so much!
Great actress..we understand her character fully as she portrays her so well.
I don’t believe anyone else could have played this part. Love the show.
Australia throws out a lot of talent that’s for sure. Didn’t even know she was Australian her American accent was PERFECT!
OMG What a lovely person and an excellent excellent actor, I am GRIPPED by Shiv's storyline. Cannot wait to see what happens to her.
The acting on this show is next level. Very similar to The Big Short where there’s a lot of serious moments but most of the show is like a dark comedy. She is INCREDIBLE as Shiv and Strong and Cox are next level. Kieran is so damn brilliant as well. All SO good!
"If I was a billionaire I'll have a chef," now that's the right answer.
She’s so nervous and a bit awkward but so loveable! Wow, she really transforms into Shiv, like night and day watching her here.
Shiv is my favourite character
Same! Love her, she’s badass
‘Shiv and I are very different.’ And thank the lord for that…
This interview shows how talented she really is.
I'm binging Succession right now and she's easily become one of my favorite actresses already!
I just love her face expression.
Cliche… “Brains, Beauty, Talent”. A deadly combination and my how she has it! We so appreciate all that you give to us.
My God she's nothing like shiv she's a damn hell of an actor 🤯🤯🤯❤️❤️❤️
Great interview ... love Shivs character... Also wow she’s an Aussie- superb performance ... such a brilliant show all round its 100% a favourite....
I can't even believe that is the person playing Shiv! Wow. This person is warm, tender, and full of happiness. She smiles a lot!! It's like the complete opposite of Shiv, for sure. What an amazing actor because she plays a cold, calculated, immoral, and despicable person on the show. The biggest transformation I've seen is Snook playing Shiv. It's unreal that this is the person playing her!
Shiv is a wonderful character! Perfectly played by Ms Snook. I love all the characters - amazing cast. SO much talent! (I have to say my favourite character is Roman - perfect douche bag)
Shiv's wardrobe is amazing. It's exactly my taste in that environment.
'Wanna-bes' take note: ZERO labels and logos. _That is CLASS_
Sarah gave some of the best acting I've ever seen/heard. Her scene with Logan in
Season 2 Episode 1, was so palpable. 🔥
She seems so sweet and unassuming. Great acting chops to transform into Shiv.
Great actress, amazing job with Succession.
She's so gorgeous and she really rocked Shiv's style she was breathtaking with her beautiful body and style 😍
I saw her in the Kate Winslet movie The Dressmaker and she completely stood out. Stunning
Shiv is the best character on the show. Love her.
Tom is the best, followed by Roman and Logan.
Shiv Roy is exactly how her step mother described her during the wedding episode
I love her and her accent. ❤❤
Shiv is my favorite...❤❤❤❤ so strong 😊😊😊😊great SHOW 👍🏽
What an actor 💙
I think I love her character for the exact same reasons people criticise her.
LOVE HER, LOVE HER , SHES GREAT GOOD ACTRESS
SHES MY FAVORITE IN SUSSESION!!
LOVE YOU SHIVE !!
terrific actor, Predestination is my fav film.
She's absolutely stupendous in it.
Love that movie so much 😍😍 was so shocked first time I watched it that I immediately watched it again🤣
She's been great in everything she's done.
@@kaykapumpa9296 very underrated movie
She is an amazing actress.
She's brilliant actor! Love watching this!
Only 2 episodes left, still rooting for Shivy
Ahh!! Love her character sm.
She acts the fuck out of shiv
She spilled, Shiv is undeniably held to higher moral standards, compared to any of the brothers and Logan
Lol…what? Do you even watch the show?
@@kvps27 all the characters thinks Roman of all people should be CEO rather than Shiv. Like...
@@kvps27 did u even watch the interview? Sarah said it herself and she’s completely right. You should pay more attention.
I like how you can still hear a little bit of her shiv voice.
Such a brilliant performance
"Succession" is a darker version of "Arrested Development!"
She's Dope! I'm such a huge fan, My favorite character on the show.
Gorgeous woman, really showed her acting talent in the last episode
i'm in love with her, she's so gorgeous
She's can perfectly play Jodie Foster in a Jodie Foster Biopic😳
Good call
if she lost half her body weight. Maybe.
Such a great show and she’s great on it
Watching this after the final episode and she called it! 😂
amazing actress
shiv nation rise !!
Just love her
Amazing actor
I love her hooded eyes so much. Makes her stand out in the sea of Hollywood actresses who get blepharoplasty
The best smile I've ever seen.
Beautiful in every way. Loved her and ALL the actors in The Beautiful Lie! Great Australian acting. Watched Succession because she was in it and having see Brian Cox in a play… I knew quality will be delivered… beyond all my expectations. Great cast, great script. Thank you
I saw her in Predestination, after which I searched out Not Suitable for Children. (A rare film, in that it was a romantic comedy I actually liked.) I'd like to see more of her Australian films.
"Great Australian acting" ...you know she's Aussie right?
She's so interesting and very different from her character
She's very smart and she gets the show in a way not a lot of people do ( Well I know she's basically the actress but still 😂). That's my Golden Globe winner, luv her.
Shiv’s whole mask came off in E08! Guess she doesn’t stand for being sidelined for the important plays.
I really dig Snook’s non-verbal acting. The curves don’t hurt neither!
her pointing out the misogyny shiv faces in the show was therapeutic for me 😅 so many times i’ve watched one of the roys say something sexist and i’m screaming “SPEAK UP SHIV” 😂
She has a beutiful smile, I love it!
She’s so beautiful
Love herrrr! ❤
Does anyone else get whiplash from watching her as Shiv and then watching her real personality?
She is TOO humble! Literally not giving herself enough credit for the great work she’s done with her character. Why. Are. Women. Like. This!!!
shiv always looks like shes the smartest and the most capable but she always fucks up at the last moment
This show is soo good! Can’t believe it’s over. 🥹 Shiv’s story was the saddest for me. But, a tragic ending overall for all… even Tom. Bravo HBO! 👏🏽
she played the hell out of shiv!
Everyone knows Ken and Roman are pieces of shit from the start.
my mouth got dry just reading that....
must really suck to view the world through such politically smudged up lenses.
They're not as wo... as awaken as you, is that it ? ^^
@@SCharlesDennicon you can say it, they are just more human than femnazi in year 2021. it was mildly cool if even that, back like 5 years ago or more.
Actors are so amazing. She is totally unlike Shiv. She becomes Shiv on camera. Her American accent is perfect. I love her.
that's what being an actor is: playing a different person.
It is one of the best roles I have ever seen. I do wish they would have invested in in custom patterns for her instead of just getting knit tops and belting suitings so they split across the back.
Shiv's wardrobe is fantastic!
I'm here for all your outfits. 💞
I LOVE her calling out how even the fans act like Shiv is worse than the men, simply because they hold her to a higher standard. They're ALL awful.
Har Har Mahadev.. Shiv Shambho.
She's adorable
Love Sarah and Shiv. Such a great show, but so typical of HBO where the quality always stands out!
