Why do I get the feeling this is more about designing a centerpiece then growing orchids? Driftwood from salt water needs to be soaked in fresh water to remove ALL salt. Before cutting on an orchid, you need to clean those shears with rubbing alcohol. DO NOT get water in or on the orchid crown.
@@SteveshappylittletreesWild orchids grow out horizontally from the tree so rain falls on the leaves but runs off and doesn't stay in the crown. A little extra, vital knowledge makes all the difference, doesn't it 😉
Sea salt IS bad for the plants. Make sure your drift wood has been cleaned. Also, the ferns will want A LOT more water than the orchids... Orchids do best when left alone. Very little water. Those arrangements are made to please the eye for people to buy, but do not last very long if treated the way she describes it....
Really???? Its more like dont use tap water as the chemicals kill it. They grow in trees in the tropics, and it rains like the bejeepers there, and they're outside!!! This comment is bullshit
isopath1 :) Phals grow upside down so water doesn’t collect in the crown in the wild. Instead, water drips down. In the position these orchids are mounted or when we pot them, water can collect in the centre so it is important to make sure you’re not getting that centre crown wet.
Gotta love those who think they know something but do no research then try to inform the educated while calling your attempt to inform others that are new to orchid care or just uninformed bullshit. While being rude at that! Ahh the internet! Although tap water can sometimes be to harsh for sensitive plants. I've found it to do no harm to my orchid but my moss is another story. I'm sure results vary due to tap water source, its quality, treatment facilities or lack of, residential filters, pollution and even weather. All 3 remove the chlorine. Collecting rain water or using the water changes from aquarium maintenance work well too the ladder includes fertilizer. Also rainwater can be polluted to the point of being toxic as well although rare where I live it happens probably more than most realize. I only mention all this cause there seems to be at least 1 commenter lacking experience or reliable information.
I always wondered why people who knew everything were my students... Lol, now I wonder why they continue to watch educational videos and comment detailed statistics contrary to the video. Thank you for nice video...yeah that music is a hard sell... beautiful arrangement & your presentation made me watch it all... I’ll try this technique.
Hosing off the driftwood seams to do the trick but to be extra safe you can soak it in water for a few days changing the water once or twice. ~Roger's Gardens
That arrangement is not going to last long term. Sea salt is not good for the plants and simply misting the plants is not enough water. Ferns need a lot of water to be happy, otherwise the leaves will crisp up.
NefFy 0 seconds ago You should really be wrapping your roots with the moss on the inside and the dirt not touching. Orchids don’t like growing in soil-/it’s just going to start rotting away those roots faster. Actually you should just be using sphagnum moss. This looks really pretty but it is not really the best for growing an orchid it would probably die in someone’s house if they didn’t re-home the roots in some thing appropriate that wouldn’t suffocate and rot them. 🙄 😑 I love tutorials with Misinformation 🤦🏼♀️..,Oh duh silly me, you guys want more business I’ll shut up and people can just keep buying new ones every year 😆👍🏻
You should leave the tinker bell music off . I couldn’t keep up with the info with that playing in the background . Would have loved to stay and watched but the music is like listing to a nonstop barking dog . . I’ll find other videos without the music . Cheers
She has no idea how to care for orchids. You cut a very healthy roots, the buds won’t open. Do you have a picture of this orchid display 3 months later? Didn’t even disinfect the cutters. So sad that you shared this info.
Gorgeous arrangement thank you for sharing!!
What a creative and beautiful arrangement! I've already been inspired! 😍
Oh wow!! I was smiling the thru the whole video!!! This is amazing and I'm gonna start this asap! Thank you so much for sharing the love!!
You are so welcome!
I enjoy watching your videos. We can learn something very easily. Thank you so much for telling us about these things.
This lady is so articulate, knowledgeable and passionate with her botanical expertise. I really enjoyed this tutorial and her creativity! Subscribed!
Ive only seen a few videos explaining this, the way nature intended orchids to grow. Beautiful! Thank you!
Real creative ! Never thought of that way of displaying them, and they can grow !

I love your arrangement they are look stunning thankyou for sharing 🌺
Very beautiful arrangement and nicely explained. Thanks.
I gasped when she lopped off that first perfectly good root from that orchid!! No way was that a dead root!
Wow that is very beautiful. Thank you for sharing
Wow, beautifully arranged, looks natural.....🥰

Looks fab...thank you for demonstrating so clearly.I made an orchid arrangement in a wooden bowl..an acacia fruit bowl to be precise!
Excellent n simple arrangement

Yes you must, because the wild Orchids never ever ever get water on their crowns when it rains🤣
Exactly

Sylvie Lecler I know right she should of just used plants just like orchids (that don’t need a lot of humidity/water)
I think the advise in the comment section is more helpful than the video. I mean this woman...PACKED these suckers in so tight they can't breathe!
Yep. This looks nice but neither the orchids or the ferns are going to thrive in that. Kind of sad.
Hi wonderful video, but can you please tell me where I can purchase driftwood ? I would like to make on as a gift for my mom. Thanks
Fish keeping stores
Thank you... what a beautiful idea
Can I use driftwood found on the beach and cleaned if not where to I get grape vine from.
Thanks for the info God bless you
It is interesting to know that the glass window does do the magnifying the lights strength when the light comes through it.

Where are driftwoods found? Very lovely video, you are very talented!

NO.

wow ur clip is very nice. I love it
Does Rogers Gardens sell grapevine wood pieces like those in the video?
Where can I buy a nice piece of wood 🪵 for mounting
Superb aranjament

Where can one purchase the grapevine wood ?

To inspire, thank you

I like it your vedeo ,me also doing this in my house , a dritf wood with orchids or a succulent
How are the roots going to grow if they're bound?
She didn't really tie the ends. Plus the roots continues to grow in a confined space of a plastic pot!
Si quieres orquídeas variadas ven a Colombia, Perú o Ecuador. Ustedes tienen solo phalaenopsis

Why the music in the background? It detracts from the video, especially if one has hearing issues
I KNOW RIGHT! It bout gave me a headache.
I am trying to find mother ferns! Can you tell me where I could get them?
Excellent
Don't misting the phal's crown otherwise it will rot.
Ok but this mist bottle is bomb. 😄
Orchid on sea salt drift wood! Isn’t the salt bad for the orchid?
I thiught she said it was not driftwood but actually a part of grape vine
Dont let water stand in the crown of the orchid. It will rot the orchid and die.

dont mount orchids on drift wood because they could have high salt content just use natural cork bark
You're right but If ocean driftwood is soaked in fresh water for several days it will be rid of the ocean salts and minerals....
How do you get rid of the sea salt in your mount ? '-)
That's what I thinking about
