You know your service man is good when it gets the jobs done in one visit. Steve in one of few plumbers who doesn’t spend the day chasing parts around in town to repair what your husband fixed. Steve does magic cause it got the parts up it’s sleeves! Thanks for sharing your daily interventions
Great job! I like old fashioned way you do business Steve! Not many people do things that way anymore! You care about the customer and take special care of your elderly customers!
Yeah life of a real technician i have most parts i need on my service truck as well its a pain to have to keep running back and forth to parts place or customer has to wait on a part with no heat or ac sucks !
I agree! If most of your calls are routine, having the part available is a life saver in some jobs. Steve has a part for almost anything. Great vid Steve, and Miss Molly guarding the truck.
Got to love when the homeowner try’s to tell you what’s wrong while your diagnosing the problem. Well if you know what’s wrong why didn’t you fix it instead of calling me Lol 😝
Steve, I’ve learned so much from you and I used to hate plumbing! I can tell how experienced you are by the way you use your tools and the type of tools you use! I’d call you in an instant to fix my plumbing and heating problems, but I think eastern NY is a bit too far! 😊
Wanted to share experience I had with my gas boiler last year. I noticed when the electronic spark lighter came on it could go for 30 seconds sometimes before actually igniting the gas, used to take about 3 seconds. I cleaned it, better for a little while, but soon enough back to 30 seconds to light. I replaced it, better for a while but again after a while seemed to be heading back tp the 30 second lighting zone. The gas valve was a Honeywell, furnace was a Slant Fin which may be 40 years old. I found the gas valve on line, it was called an off brand but was actually a Honeywell (which I was able to figure out prior to purchase). The part cost me about $110 with shipping. If I had purchased locally, $400. I could have installed it myself, but I have a guy who charges $60 an hour for work and I prepared it all for him and worked with him, and took under 1 hour. Cause it was a first time and dealing with gas boiler, felt better having someone else do it. He also said there is a valve which may have needed lubrication, I did take the old one apart later, which was not easy, and I probably could have tried doing this first but was tired of screwing with it. If you try this it's a special lubricant that's need. The main point of my story is actually about how much I saved buying the replacement gas valve on line. It's been over a year now and it's worked just fine.
@@joep4143 Sorry to have offended your sensibilities with telling people how they can save considerable money on parts, especially the replacement parts. To your point yes it's gas and if you are worried hire someone like I did, but buy your own parts (if they will let you do this). I have done a couple of other projects with gas run appliances by myself over the years and they all worked for me,
@@joep4143 My part has a warranty, but I would have to pay for labor. I saved about $300 doing what I did and it worked. I am having my car repaired this weekend. Taking the needed parts, saved about $400, but yes will not get the warranty coverage. And don't get me started on what I think of any medical cost these days, I also saved $30 this week on plumbing supplies I installed buying on line. This may not be for all, I do tons of research often, I am mechanically adept, and unusually frugal. Yes providing your own parts may limit labor warranty coverage, Never actually mattered in my case of doing this over the years, everything worked fine. I took the risk and got the reward of significant savings.

pretty much what i would call a perfect service call. great three dimentional thought diagnosing the power vent motor and killing the unused loop curculator, nice conversation explaining stuff to the customer and you take a check. Fabulous

hot water on priority is there so you never run out of domestic hot water once the system is running it works best that way .. you will never notice the heat of on priority . and you will always have nice steady hot water for a shower . best way to fly .. especially up here were its cold out .it can be shut of if you don't believe in it
Let's be honest here, that guy "who did this, and did that" is obviously not a very good handy man if you have loose switches. He should have called you first before fiddling with it.
I am convinced that ventor motors are a conspiracy. They regularly fail especially on newer hi-effic gas systems and don’t seem to be designed to work for more than two or three years…
Steve you got a lot of money in parts there between the motor and the relays for the boiler I wouldn't have a price for a job like that if I would say 950 people with tell me no
THE JOB WAS JUST OVER 800 TIME AND MATERIAL . HARD TO QUOTE UP FRONT BECAUSE OF UNFORESEEN TROUBLES ..I KINDA FELT BAD FOR THE PEOPLE NO HEAT FOR 4 DAYS .

@@Wreck-it_Ralph For sure , I wonder if he carries a Boiler in that truck. Never seen a guy in the business with as many parts as Steve carries.
Lots of things broken on this case. Amazing that you had all the spare parts in the truck! 😂 No wonder why you have a huge service vehicle!
Great troubleshooting Steve!
That always on circulator to nothing was a great find

That was the quickest thermo couple change I've ever seen.
Gotta Love it when homeowners'the majority of which are mechanically inclined with Legos-maybe" try and fix their own equipment........
Around here, we call that furnace a "relic". It should be in a museum! Sometimes, ya just gotta call her quits.

That was a mess.. Welcome to winter in New England! Lol
Is that power venter only in your state because in NJ we don't have them connected to our gas furnaces
Miss Molly is working today, works for petting, hugs and a milk bone..

You have a flame at the base of the pilot, the tubing is loose where it enters the pilot body.
Great video thank you
16:10 ‘CHIMINEE’ heh heh heh My dad always used to say that!
I should have one of them in the truck. Lol.
Power vent motor should be oiled annually with high temp oil. If not, they crap out.
Your tha man steve!! Residential technician myself goin on 5 years now love it !!
GOOD LUCK IN YOUR JOURNEY ITS BEEN A GOOD LIFE FOR ME .VERY REWORDING
Thanks man!! Love your videos keep up the good work helping us gain more knowledge!!
is that a diode or a resistor
Steve is the reason why people can live north of the 30th Parallel.
Could eliminate that loose/broken relay and install a Honeywell spud relay or brown multi purpose relay?.
Shot show rides in the truck mama
looked like a blue flame from pilot was burning under the gas burner pipes not just above it, is it supposed to do that?
No the pilot tubing was leaking where it joined to the pilot assembly.

You better hope that crazy old man don't go downstairs and turn that power back on and start his own troubleshooting..... He's crazier than bat sh!t
