That was above and beyond. Helping that guy out and teaching him what to do. You had a little fun with him but didn’t put him down for trying to fix it himself. That’s awesome Steve
You took awesome care of this guy! Not everyone one is flush these days and they have to try and do things them selfs when they can. You got him straightened out and showed him a few things. My hat's off to you.
9/10 HVAC guys would look at that old rusty thing and say " Shes cooked I'll give you a quote on a gas unit". Not Steve. Steve likes them old and crusty.
Had a guy that worked HVACR with me, he was a great seller, he was a great tech, but alone he would bring in 2 or 3 jobs for the week, new unit installs, crazy.
I was a 14 year old kid and when the oil burner guy would come by for the spring service I would watch and ask question about how it worked and how things went together. When I was 16 my dad got a call from the neighbor asking if I could work for his company. Here he owned the company our burner guy worked for. Bill, our furnace guy asked for a helper and the owner said where I am going to find someone for that and he said get your neighbors kid because he's always asking how it works. Glad I gave up my career bagging groceries which was a nice gig ( thanks Rambo's Country Store, Califon, NJ ) and helped Bill. He was a great guy and I learned how to sweat pipe, be respectful to customers and have a great time. When I was in my 40's I came home from a knee surgery and our oil fired hot air furnace was not working in Nov. I had my wife go out and grab every wrench I had in one drawer in my tool box in the garage and I was able to bleed the air out of the pump and get it going. Thanks Bill !!!
steve was very nice of you last night when a emency burst pipe and the people said there goes my food money i want too my truck and said to my self there way am charging for this told the lady your all set it was on my mom in heaven and i cryed all the way home to my shop !!! some time we need too give back !!!!! ed bon jovi leak master plumbing in ct
Good guy for teaching him Steve. He would rather teach than see the guy mess it up again. Lost possible service business because he cares for people. But I guarantee he will call when he needs other things out of his reach.
YOU HAVE A GREAT FURNACE SIDE MANNER . KEEP UP THE GOOD VIDEOS. I TO HAVE SEEN SOME HEATING AND PLUMBING FASICO THAT HOMEOWNERS HAVE WORKED ON. ITS ALL GOOD, JOB SECURITY.
Wow... Steve is a gem. .Sadly, I pulled a "Joe Boiler" when I first bought my home and assumed it operates just like a car ( and it does )... luckily for me, I had a similar experience with a plumber that showed me just enough to be mildly dangerous, but kept enough for me to remain a loyal customer.
We are new to this oil burning heating system when we moved to New England area . So I definitely won’t be working on myself. Especially when I don’t know what I am doing . Lol
Had to watch it again for the morning start! Got me laughing all morning!!! Gotta love it. I like it when Steve told him 3 times to take a look, take a look TAKE A LOOK...!!!!🤣🤣😆😂
Another DIY guy. Mucked it all up and Steve had to take it all apart and install it properly. Lesson learned. Boy did Steve put that old guy through the wringer lol. Put him on the witness stand for sure.
And you know it!!! Loved every minute of the video!!! Liked when Steve said " you talk to people on the phone. They did this, they did that! Oh, nothing against you, BUT!....You said you changed the tip.......I better check it!!! You said you checked the transformer........LOL>>>>>>Watched it 3 times already!!!...You gotta love it!!!!
Steve, you are in the snow belt. Get some anti-fog spray for snowmobiles of ski goggles and coat your glasses every morning. Your glasses fogging will be gone, even with your mask on.
Without having to go to HVAC school there has to be a Oil Burner 101 manual somewhere. Be good to have sometimes. All the burners I've seen you work on look the same except for the Riellos. Those things look weird. Good video. Love Miss Molly.
I moved way too much snow today, roads were so bad it took 1 hour 25 min's to get to work that's normally 40 min. By the end of the day I was dropping f bombs left and right. I was irritated just like Steven. Thanks for the video Steven!
I just channeled my inner Steve last night, had a neighbor call me and ask me to look at their thermostat but it turned out the draft inducer motor was making a lot of noise and seizing up. Sounded like something was stuck in it but it turned out to be dry bearings. Took it out and oiled it and got it going for now but I told them they'll probably need a new one. I felt like I was in one of your videos lol
The guy had a go and I don’t blame him for that but he needed to do some research first. He knows more now for next time and that’s how we all learn by doing and doing until it’s right 👍
Steve put your glasses (the nosepiece) on top of the mask! Have the glasses a little lower down (not like an old crusty librarian but a little bit down). I find that helps with the fog, give it a try hope it helps you too! Foggy glasses are a pain in the ....
Yeah, Joe Homeowner ... ha ha ha funny . I know what you mean though. We use to contract with Com Gas in Worcester (Wistah) County back in the 80s, and stuff you run into is unbelievable. I got stories I tell ya. So ... I'm retired now and love watching others do the work, that way if they mess up I don't have to fix it; ah ha ha ha . Love the videos, wish we had those things back then !
Technically he did change the parts, but that was just like putting a tire on a truck and not tightening the lug nuts. Wow, it was so close to an environmental disaster with the basement full of oil. You really stayed calm about this, other customers seeing this video will appreciate how you stay calm when it was so close to a disaster.

If your in the field long enough you wind up seeing just about everything but I don't ever remember seeing the Buss bars fall off a Gun Assembly like that. . Worst thing is a customer who thinks he knows enough to fix something then realizes he doesn't and calls you. I used love the customers who told me they only hit the reset button once or twice only to find out after I fired it up that they must have pushed it 20 times and soaked the chamber with fuel oil... It was nice of you to only charge him for the parts and not for the lesson.
That was above and beyond. Helping that guy out and teaching him what to do. You had a little fun with him but didn’t put him down for trying to fix it himself. That’s awesome Steve
I died when the electrodes fell off haha “These electrodes are all fucked up guy!” I instantly lost it there 😆
“Joe Burner Man” - lmao! He pulled up a front row seat for the show. Steve gave him the ole - let me show you how to do it fella!!
You have the patience of a saint to put up with this. It is hard enough to fix things with out having to fix the homeowners incompetent work.
You took awesome care of this guy! Not everyone one is flush these days and they have to try and do things them selfs when they can. You got him straightened out and showed him a few things. My hat's off to you.
I knew when I read the title that this video was going to be great. Steve doesn't disappoint in this instant classic!
Man Steve your killing me, you think this guy went upstairs his wife asks “what was wrong” and he says “oh minor adjustments” lmao
Not gettin a spaaaaaahhhrrrk. Love it!
I liked it when you asked him if he had learned anything, you were very good to him.
9/10 HVAC guys would look at that old rusty thing and say " Shes cooked I'll give you a quote on a gas unit". Not Steve. Steve likes them old and crusty.
Steve isn’t afraid of the older style burners, keeps him in business!
Had a guy that worked HVACR with me, he was a great seller, he was a great tech, but alone he would bring in 2 or 3 jobs for the week, new unit installs, crazy.
A lesson bought is a lesson taught. School is in session Professor Steve.
You're a good man!
Helping the "common man"
Hopefully the customer learned something!

Did ya learn anything??? Yep, let Steve fix it right the first time!
But I gotta tell ya, you're a good and decent man for teaching a homeowner some of the basics..!!
This might be my favorite of all time
Haha, made my day. We never see loose electrodes like that, but to him he thinks it's a common thing. Great video!
It’s like verbally abusing your girlfriend then giving her flowers at the end because you feel bad! LMAO!
Good guy for teaching him Steve. He would rather teach than see the guy mess it up again. Lost possible service business because he cares for people. But I guarantee he will call when he needs other things out of his reach.
Well it could have been a service call to the crazy army lady with 7 fingers and trash piled 4 foot high to climb over to the breaker box lol...
David Kittle I remember that one! What a freak show! Remember the brothers pile of empty sleeping pill boxes?🤣
What video is that one?
What's the cost multiplier, if the helicopter is sitting on a bucket ?
100 bucks for every lie he told he did before Steve got there! Then the Helicopter fee of 500 bucks!........LOL
@@eddylee587 haha...After all that Steve gives the guy a discount.

Freakin homeowner down there messin around and don't no what they're doing . "How tight do you have to have it?"😂😂
You're are one of a kind Steve.
"How tight is it supposed to be?"
"Tighter than two coats of paint"
“I thought they were supposed to be loose. I don’t know how it works.” smh lol
But still had the confidence to work on a device that shoots flames in his basement.
This is why I love Steve he has no problem telling this guy he’s a flipping idiot
Good video Steve, Glad you were nice to that guy!
Thank you learning a lot over heeer

Had no idea such antiquated equipment is still in use!
He's fortunate to have you available for a service call.

i messed with my mixing valve once, cost me $400 bucks weekend & late evening labor rate to learn I can't solder !
Steve makes it look easy.
Your a good man Steve
Dynamic Labs Fog Stopper is a massive help to keep the eyeglasses from fogging.
@@DavenHiskey Helps stop the fogging. If the glasses get steamed up, it doesn't help that very well.
i will try it thanks
@@DavenHiskey I happen to have that one, never tried anything else. Fogged glasses is the worst.
Put the mask between the glasses pegs that holds against the nose and the nose(not sure how its called)
Oil burner repair With Steve. New cable show coming to your basement!

I’m catching this video between rolling blackouts in Texas.
The principles of the New Green Deal demonstrated perfectly in Texas.
Your a good man Steve!!
Just invert the strap around the ear, making a loop. Opens a breathing hole and reduces fogging.
Great job and video like always
I did I hear him say "he used a paper to lite it" yikes man he is lucky he didn't burn the house down!
This one is good .... watched it again.

Okay, so now that the helicopter called a 0.75 nozzle 3/4" I gotta ask: What does 0.75 stand for? It's the flow rate in GPH?
3/4 gallon per hour
Believe it or not, I still have that same draft gauge from 1974! LOL

Happy Homeowner Repair, trying to fix the heat and has no idea what to do
OK, so he electrodes were set wrong and were loose, but they were in the same room as the furnace. So why wouldn't it run?
The masks with a moldable nose ridge work better to prevent fogging of glasses...at least that's my experience.
I’ve found that no mask works best for reducing fog on my glasses.
It’s just a HAGO nozzle. I like them. They are just stainless steel instead of brass
