I'm late catching up on videos, but I wanted to say I hope you enjoy your time with family. Thank you for this video! It was much needed today. I love Naomi Shihab Nye. I'm thankful there will always be books to open.
Enjoy your time away Pat. We've all been feeling so anxious lately. I wish we BookTubers could all gather in one place and over some wine and good books, comfort one another and feel safe again. ❤
I totally feel the few steps forward followed by a few steps back. I am drawing strength from you and the many others who are walking this path of grief and fear together. For today and the days, weeks, months, and years to come, we will continue to strengthen one another and hold on to the light we know still shines even in the darkest of times. Thank you for sharing these "good words" with us. I hope you find peace, solace, and joy as you spend time with family.
Pat, at times like these someone said, "...do the next right thing...". And indeed, it has helped me to move out of disappointment. Me? Just doing the next right thing, and listening to your poems ( love David Whyte's poems) on any day of the week. Have a peace filled time with your family.
Pat, your words and the poets’ are beautiful. I am saddened that you have been trolled. It is possible to doubt and disagree without being cruel, and to be simultaneously honest and kind. You and your videos are examples of this. Our reading and listening shape our minds and souls by the seeds of thought and example that they plant. I pray the troller will discover you have dropped a seed of goodness within himself/herself. Keep on planting your seeds, Pat!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and a few good words. We do need more of this and more opportunities to connect to each other as humans despite any differences.
Much love and strength to you, Pat…and to all of us that feel as you are feeling. May we each find what brings us some measure of comfort, to get through the long days ahead… A furry smooch from our pets, a card from a friend, a warm family embrace, a great book to escape into, our favorite soothing music, and as you said, good words to be shared with good friends, with no judgement, just acknowledgement and understanding. Abrazos 💜
Thank you for reminding us all that there is good in the world still. It's so easy to get sucked into all the negative and scary, and while that is still very real, it's not a reason to be quiet. On the contrary. It might feel meaningless to do seemingly meaningless videos, but just showing up with kindness and light is meaningful in itself, and it gives everyone a boost to carry on. I loved the poem about the girl with the book. However I interpret it, it speaks volumes. Have a lovely visit with your family! See you soon! 💜
Thank you, as always, dear Ellen, for this lovely comment. I need to read more that is good and filled with light and hope and talk about it here and less of the news that is making me so sick. Thank you, my friend. ❤️
@ Feel free to talk about whatever you need to talk about and do what feels right and good to you. You have no obligations to us. Just know that it is a comfort whenever you show up.
@@ElizabethAuran Thank you, dear Liz. It was great to be in Vermont with family! This video was badly trolled after I posted it. Just heartbreaking. The level of discourse in this country is so depressing. I almost shut the channel down again. I just don’t have the stomach for the vitriol that people seem to feel free to vomit into other people’s spaces and onto other people’s work. It’s really sickening…
Enjoy your time with your family. I certainly understand your anxiety-I’m right there with you. Mostly, I can’t wrap my head around any of this. Thank you for the lovely reading. I read Parker Palmer’s “Healing the Heart of Democracy”. I need to find my copy and read it again now.
Hi Vicki. Thank you for this lovely comment. I, too, read Palmer's book and can't find it now. I may have to buy it again. Take care. I'll be back soon.
It has been hard to stay in any one lane this past week. Thank you for the poems. The book will indeed provide! I hope you have a good family visit and we'll see you soon!

That was lovely Pat! I’m feeling a lot of the feelings described by Dr. Palmer Thank you for sharing the poems and your words. I feel a bit like an anemone that has shrunk back and I’m still in that state.
Wonderful poems - I really love the library one. Poetry has fast become a source of comfort and connection for me in these trying times - having not really ever been able to get into it before, that's a thing of joy in itself! Things are difficult - everything does feel off, indeed. I'm not in the US but still I feel it acutely. But we can all bring each other strength and love and solidarity, and we will get through this together. One step forward. One day at a time. We can all be lights for each other in the darkness. Keep shining, Pat! 😊
@@BookChatWithPat8668 It absolutely is. I've personally banned myself from looking at the news in the morning so I can get through my day without a black cloud hanging over it. I only look at the news for an hour at dinner time, when I know I have the brain space to deal with what's going on. On the darkest days lean on others - family, friends, this wonderful community in this little corner of BookTube - we're here for you. And know that when you're able to post 'a few good words' that you really do make a difference.
