- Kurt Vile made a surprise stop by Studio K to perform a couple songs off of his upcoming album, Wakin On A Pretty Daze. Here's Kurt performing the first track from that album!

So magical.. Sounds from another time, but like it was already here all along.
that riff is SO GOOD
I still cry to feel good, this song makes me feel good i like it
Kurt Vile always reminds me a lot of Pavement and I love that.
you can´t get tired of this sound...
God he killed this performance
Right on, i'll try step down. that sounds about right.
Kurt Vile is brilliant, I could listen to his voice all day. This makes me want to see him live so much agh
Beautiful.
wonderfull
YAH RADIO K!
Gotta love that King Tuff poster
this is the perfect chill song!
no words X x
Unreal. Love it
such an authentic voice! and tone! ... amazing (:
this is absolutely beautiful!
Good catch! Thanks for pointing that out.
Pretty sweet song
Way to go, Radio K! Glad to see you guys are still going strong via radio & the internet. I left Minneapolis in Jan 1996. about 4 yrs after "K" started. At that time, still, they were only on the AM station. No FM spot at that time. Nice to see there's at least one good thing going on in Minneapolis. That city has been gentrified so badly that I barely even recognized it the last time I was in Mpls, which was in June, 2000. 16 yrs later -SO much more has changed -some yuppie scum probably thinks for "the better", but, no, I wouldn't want to live there again, it is a long way from the Minneapolis, MN in which I grew up.
I love how everyone commenting is interested in learning how to play the song.
Needs more 'yeah'.
Hey! It cuts off before he's finished! But it is a very nice recording, and a great performance of the song. Thanks!
..it's only dyin'..
Hes tuned down. He uses some sort of reverb pedal (or setting on the amp). He is also miced up aswell as plugged in to an amp. And of course the main reason for his sound, he is Kurt Vile. :)
king tuff poster
Ultimate Guitar has a tab of this version! Can't post the link (youtube policy) but you can probably find it quite easily
yyyyyyyyyeeeeeessssssssssssssssssssssssss!!!
Suberb
somewhat related to this discussion, albeit a different genre, isMiles Davis' Walkin' ... awesome stuff, pre-Coltrane
There is a tab of this video on Ultimate Guitar . com, can't post the link here (youtube policy) but you can probably find it quite easily on that site..
Actually it's Walking, not Waking (which is in the album title. ;)
Steady vid of the guiltar would be nice :D
I'm not the only one who wants to lear the song hahah
Tabs on Ultimate Guitar are pretty close!
definitely a Martin guitar-- anybody know the model number?
What bar chords is he playing when its the "yeah yeah, yeah yeah, Yeah Yeah, yeah yeah.." verse.
Neil Young an influence?
John Prine more so
C(3rd fret), G(3rd) and F are in there. Rhythm is the important part. Someone correct me if I'm wrong
any chance we could get a full length video with a steady shot of the guitar?
minor issue: the song title on this video is incorrect (it isn't actually the "title track" per se, but a quasi-title track). It should read "Wakin on a Pretty Day." Only the album title uses the word "Daze."
I could try to tab this for you if interested! No guarantees though hah.
He's pretty stoned. So hard to sing like that without weed.
Any one know what guitar that is?
It's a Martin & Co. Which one though?
Dm too
It looks like Standard tuning to me...maybe a half or whole step down? Unless I'm missing something it looks like C, F, G, Am
I think Neil Young likes this
Storslått, praktfull.
No, Epicurus's Shit, you're incorrect. The album is "Wakin On a Pretty Daze" and the track is 'Wakin On a Pretty Day'
I have a hunch that there are so many hipsters on this video...
Anyone know the tuning?
thats not live .. it s exactly like the recorded.
Anybody figure out how it´s tuned?
Half-step down. Exactly the same notes as in standard tuning, but tuned flat.
Tack!
anybody know what guitar he's playing?? much appreciated
it's a Martin 00 I believe
+henry light cap: D#
Dinosaur Jr.?
What kind of guitar does he play?
Martin 0015
BubonYabon i think its an om15m westside custom edition with a richlite fretboard
Nope, its wakin, where did you get walking?^^
Tuning is everystring half a step down.
I love Kurt's music, but he's definitely a "studio" musician...his live stuff is always wonky in its timing
I've seen him play live and it was on point. I think he's just a wavy dude and kind of lets it flow when he's playing solo.
