You neglected Kurt in your decade list. Not cool!
Great. Just who i wanted to see in this comments section
Bass hits melon
kurt vile...............................forever
I just never ever ever get tired of this tune
Just keeps hitting
I don't understand how this doesn't have millions of views
when i finished my interview with him he gave me a kiss on the cheek
Been listening to this song loads this summer.
How can you hate the phaser? it's like the whole essence of Vile's music.
Yes and I love it for my own, but I wish he didn't use a Boss phaser, too syrupy and doesn't mix well with other guitars
When I die, just play a bunch of his music at my funeral.
Gregory Graf same here. To be exact, this beautiful song
I got a reccomendation for you. Thinking of a place-the war on drugs, get back to me if you like it
Don't think, don't speculate, don't compare. Just listen.
Don't comment?
Just absorb, ... btw also great on 0.75 playbackspeed loop, especially just before the crack of dawn or "long before", for the insomniacs, aka me !
I don't think that telecaster barely fitna gonna wanna survive that house fire.
Well said Bella...amazing song. song.
That’s the best way to listen and really the only way to truly listen to music imo.
kurt vile just captures that feeling of sleeplessness so perfectly. now that i pretty much always feel like his songs sound, this one in particular has become my anthem. nothing always comes to mind..
Still fresh, nine years later. 🤘
KEXP: Best music live account on RUclips EVER! Tack KEXP.
This is instant chill medicine.
Does anyone else fucking love the energy of the drummer
That is the coolest telecaster I've ever seen
Yeah!
Yeah!!
yes
His best song hands down. Who knew a pretty day could be so epic.
So he's not the only one who digs plugging in acoustics and putting interesting effects on his playing. Love it
What an utterly beautiful piece of music...
I’ve watched this video 6 times this week
6:41
It's like diving headlong into a full lint trap, and I love it.
This is one of those beautiful songs you can relate to from your childhood. It has made me happy and sad all at the same token and I love this to the point that i cried when I heard it as it is familiar and drenches your ears with pure love. Its sloppy and organised all at the same time.
Aimee-jayne Talbot Well said! :D
+Aimee-jayne Talbot yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,, yeah,, yeah,, yeah,, yeah,, yeah,, yeah,, yeah,, yeah,, yeah,, yeah,
what a beatiful melody, cant get tired of hear this one.!
Man... This is it. That's what music's about. Great to see Rob again in this one.
Just a gorgeous piece of music
Gorgeous guitar sounds... Love that tele sound... Sweet bass guitar.
Such a perfect song
always ready for kurt vile!
Awesome phaser, one of my favorite guitar effects I use it all the time.
Best live version of this song !
this shit is next level beautiful.
that's what makes his live performances fun though. He just goes off and improvs a bunch of his songs and it's a lot of fun. Last night in DC he turned "Ghost Town" into a 10 minute jam sesh playing on his electric with the Violators whereas on the album it's a slow, plodding acoustic piece where he's solo. It's great having an artist take some liberties with his music to make every live show unique and different.
Phaser is drop dead amazing.
Gets better with Age. Love this and that. God bless.
Phaser is my favorite flavor
My favourite song 😀
Addicted to this tune
damn ive never heard of these guys....but im really enjoying this.
crispy jam
I know there's a lot of Lou Reed similarities, but the one that comes to mind for me and what draws me to Kurt's music, is how he reminds of when Neil Young would jam like this... What do you think?
Sam Sochet although there is similarities to other musicians, I never really thought about it until I saw your question. I think he’s unique among the musicians you mentioned...
Especially considering his hair and the way he sorta ducks away behind the mic
Ahhhhhhhhhh.... *contented sigh* Can't think of many other bands or musicians that can do this to me
Kurt is a Indie god!
Wonderful
I repainted and varnished my strat to look like this guy's bass.. awesome music btw
i love kurt's music and the war on drugs too
I just want to melt to this song
Kurt Vile, guitar and family, man singing yes and we love you. Evi family Winkel
Kingdom 💛
KV STYLE...PRICELESS !
This song was yoooaaariiiteee
I discovered him thanks to Hope Sandoval and that's the best thing happened to me in 2016
Yup. Me too. Massive Attack brought me to Hope. And now this. It's all good.
good for the soul this
Music for Space Cowboys. It's Beautiful. Love this song.
yeah yeah yeah :)
great song, right, like a great pretty day
🕊
Solid drummer. Allows the band to be sloppy and Kurt even sloppier. Great sound :)
true..Kurt actually sings it a lil bit different every time....maybe him just enjoying it and letting the song come thru him instead of forcing it out...its a song with feeling yeh
It's certainly part of his charm, that lose sloppiness. It's not a bad thing. I dig it :)
me too brother :)
Totally agree; this song was designed to be sloppy, and the sloppier it is the more amazing it is.
+King Pug Yeah Russell Brand is a badass behind the kit. Not so much flashy bad-assery, just staying in that god damned pocket!
Mad Solo
tiene algo de Al Stewart... super relax y cool
This is awesome. I really like the way he sings the first lines on the album version though, I guess he enjoys changing things up which is cool in itself though
SOOOO MUCH PHASER
This is their ( Stairway to Heaven )
that mockingbird bass is bomb
Kurt said Lou Reed was a major influence and it shows. I just hope Kurt isn't into shooting heroin and picking up Puerto Rican transvestites.
+Arthur Fonzarelli GREAT COMMENT
Arthur Fonzarelli he's married to a teacher with two babies. i'd say he's alright.
Neil Young is just as big of an influence on him, if not more. People have musical influences. It's cuz they like their music, not cuz they strive to be just like them.
Russel Brand on drums!
Russell Brands the drummer now? awesome!!
I now kinda prefer this version more than the EP one
That wah adds a confirmation
i mean jaquain!
sounds like pavement on downers :)
lmao!
is that steve gunn
is that river on drums?
Nice song. Nice and slow.
and low, low.. low.
Drummer is on different drugs than the rest of the band.
who says there on drugs bucko
@@romeysullivan3281 bucko..lol.
Steve Gunn here too
7:24
russell brand on drums!
Dont you know if your drummer looks like someone else it's a guarantee he's good lol
Kurt going Super Saiyan here
Hey I found you!

Diego Suarez del Real 793
+Diego Suarez del Real

second 'yeahs' part ~57
inbetween: 3
so, if my math skill is ok its 793
I counted 2,549
yootubesuxass dude your math sucks. go beck to skool
Not gonna lie, Joaquin Phoenix is a pretty sweet drummer!
Is that Steve Gunn?
I think so
Pantera Cemetery Gate
A long sequence of almost getting there...….like, really promising but the Xanax overtones left me all sleepy.
Great song, great guitar tones, awesome mix, and totally rock solid, tight drummer, but... terrible camera work...!
Showing Kurt playing acoustic while the lead guitarist is soloing is not only aggravating and distracting, but it's unforgivable...
Ignoring the lead guitarist's second solo and showing us the drummer instead is just beyond fathoming in the slightest, and shows a lack of even the most basic music video production skills, or even any understanding of how to just film a band... although I totally dig this song and have played it over and over ever since I first heard it; deciding to seek it out on RUclips to see if I might be able to see Kurt actually performing it; by the time the guitarist's 3rd, lead-out solo started, and the cameraman still insisted on ignoring him completely and again focused on Kurt strumming his guitar, and showing us the drummer striking the skins, and showing us the bass player playing his part, I just couldn't even watch it anymore and just stopped the video to make these few notes here, which hopefully someone will see and themselves make a note to themselves not have this cameraman shoot any more videos, as terrible as this one is...
...but love Kurt... Excellent music... Excellent band... Excellent sound... Excellent mix... and I'll certainly be looking to hear much more from him... ;-)
Hahaha yeah what the heck? The cameraman shows everyone but the lead guitar
hmm... how do you REALLY feel though? :-P
Nah, I totally agree. I freaking hate it when camera focuses on the the LEAST interesting part of a performance, which seems to happen all the time. If you're gonna film music, you need to at least... like music, you know?
Bruhhh.. impeccably spot on!!
Kind of seems a little over-powering.. Maybe a little to fast? The phase should be a bit slower I believe.
I think its a pity that Vile does not sing in the way he does on the record.
The importance if lead guitar...
I’ve tried googling and found nothing but fail to believe I’m the only person hearing Kurt “rip off” Pantera’s Cemetery Gates in this song?? Someone please confirm they heard it!!
If Lou Reed lacked conviction, I think he'd have sounded a bit like this.
Lou is great but seemed overtly cocky to mask some insecurity. Kurt seems genuinely self-assured with himself, or perhaps is just more mellow. None of Lou’s neurotic New York energy
Das lied ist scheiße (shid)"
Ngl these vocals are kinda... not very good
