This beautiful city was burnt down and on fire for two weeks, the history says. Those stupas were decorated with gold because the city was so rich and prosperous. I was there twice and always want to go back. You're on the point about swords and Muay Thai. Recently, I am really into this martial art.
Thanks for your comment 🙏🏻 I agree, awesome place, I hope everyone who visits this place learns abit about the history. Such a wealthy interesting place.
The earliest Kingdom of Siam(Thai) was Dvaravati, the local Davaravati were living in this area for a long time, since the 1st century perhaps. Tai-kadai, the other local of Thai, were spreading around this area starting form Southern China, north India, until the MSEA. Many Tai-Kadai family are still living in Laos, Myanmar, India, and Vietnam. The last of Thai local are the southern, Sri Vijaya which the center was in Chaiya, Surat Thani. Thailand nowadays are the mixture of these 3 groups since the ancient time. King Uthing(Ramathibhodi I) was NOT from Chinese Family because Siam was very strict of the throne inheritance. No way he would be accepted if he was not originally from the royal family. The new finding found his majesty came from the Varman Dynasty when the first Khmer king assassinated the Varman King, most of the ruler families fled to Thailand. King Uthong later on invaded Khmer with the help of Lavo(another Dvaravati city) and he could conquer over Khmer. Chinese had been here since the 6th century, as we can find from many Chinese records in the past, not because of the king but Ayutthaya was the trading hub. Not only Chinese were here but also Japanese, Persian, Portugese, and Hollanda.
Very interesting points! Given me more to think about, thanks for taking the time to comment. Where do you find the alternative information about King Uthong? So much of this history is so different depending on what countries history you read 😂 same as all history though 🤷🏽♂️
@@liam.richards I understand how you could get those information which is different from us. The story about Thailand(Siam) which are widely spreading in the internet mostly came from French historians from the colonial era which many information were twisted (to give the right for France and UK to take over many Siam territories at that time)and outdated. Actually in Thailand there are many records in Lai Khom Thai(ancient Thai language) and other records from various sources indicated that Thailand has so longer history. There were stories since Suphannabhumi kingdom, Dvaravati, Lavo, Phimai (the founder of Angkor architecture and was believed to be the ancestors of King Uthong), Sukhothai, Hariphunchai(Lanna: Chiang Mai), Tambalinga, Yonok Chiangsaen, Isaan Pura(Chenla), Vayathapura(Funan) etc. Most of these kingdoms’ knowledge were records and kept in many museums scattered around Thailand. FYI, Thailand has the highest number of museums in ASEAN (around 1600 museums), more than all the number of other ASEAN countries combined. But many of those records were not translated nor showing to the world, so the inaccurate information from the colonial masters were used widely instead. Studying Thai history thoroughly you must be able to read Thai. 😅 There are few English version of journal of the scholar and professor which more accurate than colonial master’s ones that you can start reading: Dvaravati, the earliest kingdom of Siam by H.G. Wales….this is just the start😃. Thailand history is very interesting and fascinating to learn.
@@thaneeyat2252Stop spreading misinformation. Dvaravati was a Mon kingdom of the Austroasiatic Mon peoples in present day Myanmar, not the Tai-Kadai speaking peoples. Tai people did not inhabit Southeast Asia until the 13th century after persecution of minorities in present day southern China. Please read about the Tai migrations if you want to understand Thai history, there’s no shame about it. What is this about the “first Khmer king”, don’t tell me you believe Khom and Khmer are different, if you do there’s no evidence to back that up. Your understanding of history is incredibly biased and is not scholarly or accepted outside of Thailand. Stop trying to fool westerners 555555
Thai history as we were told in the past was a story of Tai people who imigrated from southwestern China. However, if we look at the people living in Thailand nowadays, we will see that not all of them are of Tai origin. Therefore, history of Thailand should cover accounts of all of those people who lived on this land before the Tais and now have become Thai citizens. That will be fair to all.
Yes of course, I’m pretty sure I mentioned the ancient ethnic peoples. This is the case absolutely everywhere though, it’s just that history and ‘record’ keeping, changed drastically as more advanced peoples migrated down etc etc. Almost everywhere on earth there was hunter gatherer ‘ancient’ peoples, that’s just common knowledge isn’t it?
**Why does the stone Buddha have no heads? Because Western antique collectors wanted the Buddha heads, and Thai brokers were the ones who arranged for them and hired villagers to steal the Buddha heads and other treasures around 1957. The carved stone Buddha images originated from stone carvers who carved the Buddha image from three stones: the top stone is the head, the middle stone is the torso, and the last stone is the legs in meditation. Therefore, stealing the head is very easy; just lift the head off. 🙏

This City was contemporary with late Medieval and Renaissance periods. Sadly it was not survived the war.

Bro they’re like $1 from my ‘racing to Bangkoks best markets’ video. Just a random stall in Bangkoks Train market
Imagine one of the most beautiful city was burnt down to the ground by war.
Yeah! I mean that happened in almost all history during war, it is a dam shame though.

That's right, you can see the head of the Buddha in museums in America and Europe.
Amazing information, thanks for sharing 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Someday, someone kind will return the heads of the monks to us... We are proud to be born Siamese
Hope so 🙏🏻 but also it stands as a sign and memory of the times. Gives the place character
