    I've owned the Chimp for more than 1 year now and really like it. I'll make a few additional comments:
    1) Remote Start: I keep it in the garage (not powered) and so when I go get it ready, I'll roll it out, plug it in (this will turn on the wifi and get itself online) and when I want to turn it on, I'll do it via the app.
    2) The lower-half of the barrel is double-walled. This is awesome. I'm in West Michigan, a few miles from Grilla Grills HQ and it really shows that this is designed to be used in the harsh weather (15f and windy, and this does a really good job), no jacket required for this fella. It does burn more pellets, but you'll expect that.
    My 71 year old mom visited me last summer and was so impressed by it, she ended up buying one and uses it regularly for herself.

    Several months ago I stumbled upon your Best Pellet Grills under $1199 video. I knew the AT Silverbac was the pellet grill I was going to get when the time came. Well, that time came tonight. I'm happy to see this video now and see that the Grilla Grills Silverbac is still turning heads. I feel very confident in my choice of pellet grills. Thanks for the video(s)! Keep up the awesome work. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some pellet smoking to plan for.

    I've been using a Silverback (normal not off-road) for about 2 years now & agree with you on many of your points. The deal breaker for me is the opening height. The 9" is just way to small if you smoke decent sized prime ribs & turkeys. This is the main reason I'm looking elsewhere for my next pellet grill. My other issue is the heat shield on mine has become warped causing cleaning to be a royal pain. I've got 100s of great cooks with this grill so I have no regrets getting it.

    Great review. I just purchased a Silverback a few months back after saving and researching different grills for over 6 months. The various stainless components of the grill and the double walled insulation are really what sold me. I also purchased several accessories such as the front shelf and sauce caddy both were stainless too and the AT cart which was a little pricey but once you see the quality it is understandable. I have done almost 15 cooks on it and it has been great. Because of the build quality would definitely recommended spending a little extra for this pellet grill. Hard to beat at this price point.

    Smoked a couple London Broils and in under 1 hour at 275 we had the most tender juicy and smoked with smoke ring. It actually looked and tasted like brisket. I call it a poor man’s brisket. Hardly ever saw any smoke during cook so this is the real deal. I only wish they would provide a more heavy duty grill cover for the Silverback.

    it seems like this is my best bet for my first pellet smoker, i have a propane grill so im not super worried about the grill aspect mainly smoking. only thing is the single probe, do most people tend to use 2 or more probes? i assume it would be nice if im smoking different meats at once, so is that a show stopper? ill mainly be butts, ribs, and brisket, but only one at a time.

    Hello David :)
    i started following you recently thank you for all the hard work you put into your videos
    its been over a year that i want to get a electric Pellet smoker but there always seems to be problems with every model out there, i just want to be able to start smoking my own brisket thats what im wishing for ... i get discouraged with all the technical issues people complain about that i end up giving up, i just want to find that "almost perfect grill" but also not pay a crazy amount so ideallyyy under 1300 USD
    Any suggestions ?

      I think he just suggested the Silverbac to you. All stainless internals, Wi-Fi controller, double wall insulation, AT cart, all under 1300? You don’t find that with others.

    • @TheBarbecueLab

      I've tested a bunch of pellet grills over the last year, 14 or 15 I think? Here's what I would do if I was just going to buy one of them. I really like the Silverbac AT. The cart is phenomenal, easy to move around, the grates are my favorite of the 15 i've tested. I love the build quality and the app works easily without a bunch of headache. If I was new to pellet grills and I wanted the app to control everything, I'd go with a Traeger. There's not another app out there that I've encountered that can hang with Traeger's. Integrated recipes and the works. You'll have a thinner metal grill that's not great at grilling temperatures, but it's very easy for beginners with the integrated app control. If I wanted tons of space and wanted to cook in the winter, I'd look at the ZGrills 1100 model. Double walls and gasket around the entire cook chamber with a voluminous main chamber is hard to beat. So, I don't think you can go wrong with any of those depending on what you're wanting to accomplish.

    This grill has so many things I like BUT the lack of an ash dump system is really killing it for me. Seems like such a simple and archaic thing that should be in all grills.

    • @larryzielinski7067
      @larryzielinski7067 Год назад +2

      They don't have one because ash dumps don't actually work. Any grill that has one still require you to vacuum out the inside.

    • @dailyrant4068
      @dailyrant4068 Год назад +1

      @@larryzielinski7067 Agreed. RUclips for grills that have ash dumps... also you're talking just pulling a grate, a drip tray, and that's it. It's not like you're disassembling a dozen parts

    Do you think the silverback can take the place of a gas grill and smoker?

    • @TheBarbecueLab
      @TheBarbecueLab  5 месяцев назад

      It really depends on how you use your grill and your smoker, but the short answer is yes. As far as it functions as a smoker, it's as good as any Traeger or Pit Boss that I've used from a grilling and smoking perspective. On the grill side of things, it's just different from a direct fire grill in that it doesn't grill directly over fire. It's radiant heat that happens above the baffle plate, so yes it will grill, but it won't flame broil directly over flames. We have ours on the patio still even a year after we did this review, so we must like it for it to stay when so many others find their way to storage.

    • @waymor2460

      Generally all purpose cookers aren’t good at any one cook method. I use a gas grill for hot and fast cooks. I use my Silverbac strictly for low and slow cooks. I’m pleased with my Silverbac but it does run hotter than the app indicates. I suggest you use a different temp probe for the ambient temperature.

    After looking at the app ratings for the Grilla Grills Alpha Connect, I can’t get myself to buy a Grilla. The Apple Store Grilla app only shows 59 ratings and only has a 2.8 out of 5 stars. Lots of complaints. On the contrary, Traeger, Rec Teq and Camp Chef have thousands of reviews and are well above 4.5 out of 5.

      I must say, I had a traeger for 8 years with zero issues. When I upgraded, I looked at a lot of grills in person and thought they were all cheaply and poorly made. My Grilla Silverbac is a tank and built stout! Outside of my initial issue, I think this grill is the best bang for your buck. It’s really impressive.
