I’ve had my Silverbac for about 3 years. I upgraded to the new controller about a year later. I’ve been happy with it. It’s durable, easy to clean I haven’t had any issues with flame out or auger issues. I would just caution the internal temp probe for the cook chamber is not accurate at all. The actual temp is anywhere from 30 to 75 degrees hotter than indicated. I’ve verified this with 2 different wired thermometers. I use a secondary thermometer to control the temperature so if the Grilla app says 225 degrees it’s actually around 260-280 degrees. Another suggestion, that front shelf accessory is about $100 from Grilla. Instead I bought a folding plastic table from Target for about $35 and use it for every cook. I keep it right next to toe smoker and it’s great for keeping pans of food, sauces, utensils. It’s especially useful to wrap briskets, ribs, and shoulders.

I’ve had my silver back from about a year after they came out with the first silverback. I purchased the competition cart with the big wheels that gives the smoker a wider stance. And the ability to wheel it into the garage for shelter. I haven’t had a single problem with my Silverback. Yeah, knock on wood, been running it for several years without a hitch. I don’t bother with the cover because the cover is not waterproof. I just wheel it in and out of the garage with the cart. The cart is wonderful. I actually wheel it up onto a tilt bed, utility trailer and pull the grill down the road to parties and get together’s. I have a rib rack where I can do 10 racks of ribs up on edge. I purchased that from Green Mountain grills. Love my silver back. I just bought an OG about a year ago. I’ve had a few small issues I’ve left that grill outside and it’s not sealed your pellets will get wet. You have to have a roof or be able to wheel it in and out so I put the big wheels on the OG and I will that one in and out of the garage also. I transport the OG. Also on the utility trailer you have to take the grill grades out of the OG. Otherwise the grill grade will end up bouncing around enough to get under the lips of metal that hold the grill grate. Then the weight of the grill, grate bounces up and down on the probe. The probe is bent but it still works. I’ve been it back in shape slightly. I’m in the market for a new probe at this point. I just have to get enough time to call them and order one or drive down there and pick one up I’m about 15 minutes from Holland Michigan.

I love the features and design of the silverbac. I went with the AT cart model since I have a detached garage and move it around alot. The base seems very sturdy and wide. All stainless steel insides too!

I'm with you, Brad, the AT cart is great! I also have a detached garage and the larger wheels and wide stance make it great for moving about. I actually traverse deck steps with a couple extended boards as ramps, the AT cart does it!

Yes I also have been waiting/wanting an extra large Grilla pellet grill!!

Grilla grills are pricey, though they seem pretty solid. But what bothers me is at that cost, you STILL have to pay extra for a shelf and for a cover. That can add about $150 to the cost -- for items that I think should be lincuded.

Thanks for recommending Grilla. I've been running my Chimp for 2 years and I kind of want the Silverbac AT, but wife says we don't need it. I can barely get a brisket trimmed down to 14 lbs on the Chimp and I'd like a little more space than that.

I've used the Chimp too. Once people taste the food you make, you have to cook more which equals more grill space. I fully support you on getting a Silverbac!

Looking at the Silverbac vs. RecTeq 590 now. Thanks for the review. The top-heavy and narrow footprint is my only concern...and I don't want to shell out another $300 for the cart, which is just overkill for my application. Decisions decisions...

If you don't have high winds to deal with, it's a non-issue. At my old house there was no winds and I had no problems.

Go with the 590! Have had mine for 3 years with no problems at all. My sister has a grilla chimp and the fit and finish left a lot to be desired.
