Ayrton Senna's McLaren and Lotus F1 cars fly round Monaco in amazing tribute

- Bruno Senna, Thierry Boutsen, Eddie Irvine, Christina Gutierrez and Gabriel Bortoleto all jumped into one of Ayrton Senna's legendary F1 cars to pay tribute to the three-time F1 World Champion and renowned king of Monaco at the Historic Grand Prix. On show were several of Ayrton's old racing cars, including the McLaren MP4/5B and Lotus 97T F1 cars, and Ayrton's Rolt F3 car and even his racing kart.

Fly round? What, at 20mph?
Look it is always easy to make such a comment from your desk. Imagine you owned one of these cars, made sure they were kept in a running condition. You then bring it to Monaco and put a mildly unexperienced driver behind the wheel. There is always a chance of crashing and writing the cars off in such a situation. Would you want to be the one who destroyed Sennas first win car?
If you want to see a Lotus 97T fly around Monaco: Easy fix. Bring yours and give it some stick ;-)

What an absolute waste of an opportunity to hear these cars. I dont expect them to fly, its a demonstration, but to not have the track mic's on is a CRIME. Who organised this??? One pitlane mic on by the sound of it. I missed the live feed as I had things to do the weekend, but was excited to watch the full replay. Disappointed, cant hear the cars. Mic's were all off as they lined up on the grid, we could see drivers talking but no sound, no commentary, nothing..

Listen to that 🎶 I stopped watching F1 when M.S. retired. The cars today sound like dying vacuum cleaners. It makes my ears hurt.
