    Awesome as always mate!
I'm using Hollyland Lark150 and for me the biggest pro is ability to control gain of the transmitters on the reciver unit.
    Is that on the B900?
    Thanks!

Thanks Shane! Not in the market for a new Wireless kit at the moment, using the Lark 150 from time to time instead. Curious, however, about the 900 case: how much rooms is there for all the accessories including the lav microphones with the really long cables? For me that would be a big plus, more room, since the charging box for the Lark 150 has limited additional room when filled with transmitters and receiver.

Thanks for your effort to test this set.
    A few Q’s:
    1. What is the audio latency? Did you measure that?
    2. Is this audio without distortion over the whole frequency spectrum?
    3. Did you do a real-life range test?
    4. In an uncontrolled environment?
    5. Did you do a dropout test in a WiFi invested environment?
    6. Is pairing done by switching them on in sequence, iow. no saved pairing settings?
I did these tests with a few Blink 500 Pro sets.
They were terrible and completely useless in all aspects mentioned above.
    I sent them all back.
So I was wondering how they improved them.
    Thanks!

      1. Did you watch the video? I tested it indoors and outdoors and timestamped the entire video for each of section. I had no issues indoors with my wifi router on. You clearly didn't watch my video. Check the time-stamps.

    • @MikeHageman
      @MikeHageman Год назад

@@GeekyNerdyTechy thanks for your reply. I watched every second of your video. 😅 it would be quite pointless to react and ask questions without watching, right? 😜
About latency: you say ‘next to lagless’, that is a great improvement over the Blink 500 Pro, which had a latency of 62,35 ms (almost 2 frames @ 30 FPS).
And soundwise it had a lot of harmonic distortion above 1,25 KHz. I measured it with a spectrum analyzer in my lab.
And my sets had dropouts within 3 meters with line of sight in a real-world set with mobile phones users and other WiFi or 2,4 GHz equipment around in the building. So distance tests outside with no structures or WiFi around are kind of pointless imho if the unit fails inside a set at a production.
      So imho:
The packaging, the supplied accessories, battery life, charging case, features: all great with Saramonic, but it failed me on the important things.
That’s why I wondered how the new 900 performed and maybe give it another change in my productions.

The stripped down lavalier mike is to be inserted in a rubber shoe for installing the mike to be unseen. The foam cover typically is to be used with the round mike head, not without it. So its bizarre that the foam doesn't fit..

    Great video!! Thumbs up 👍👍👍
Hi Shane - I have a specific question if I may:
When using the phone app on my GH4 to control the camera, it interferes with the audio signal with pops and clicks pretty badly. When I stop using the GH4's wifi feature the interference stops. This is only on one brand of mic I have. My high priced lav system does not do that.
My curiosity is will this happen to this system you have in this video if you turn on and connect to your phone from the camera?

    • @NatanRufino
      @NatanRufino 2 года назад

Awesome question! A very important one. I've heard almost in each microphone brand he tested those little "tics", ""tucs" sounds, all over the recording from time to time. It may be some inevitable interference from the location. I really would like to understand that too.

    • @GeekyNerdyTechy
      @GeekyNerdyTechy  2 года назад +2

Most of the clicks are from the clip on mic moving. It can be influenced through other 2.4ghz band devices especially when I did the comparison at the end I had to have all other units off during that test.

What I want to understand is how it connects to iPhone. Woth earlier Saramonics, the receiver simply plugged into the phone, no cables, nothing. Am I now supposed to have a cable and carry the receiver somewhere?

all these systems need is a locking pin for 3.5mm lav input i like to hide the mics to not have my interviews look like a vlog lol but not having the lav mic locked while transmitter is on someone waist could easily get disconnected that's the one deal breaker for me

When are they going to make a 32-bit of those things? At this moment, I don't see any important improvement over the wireless go II. Just another wireless transmitter.

I guess the Blink 500 Pro X is newer than the 900 as this and other reviews compare the 900 with the 500 Pro but not with the 500 Pro X.
I think the 500 Pro X is better than the 900. And it's much cheaper. I've just ordered the 500 Pro X kit and the handheld adapter for the 500 Pro which , I was told, is not compatible with the 500 Pro X but I need to check that myself. Incidentally the 500 Pro X lavaliere mic has a much shorter cable and it comes with a foam and a furry windjammer.
Actually, I wonder if the 500 Pro X isn't an upgrade of the 900 but they decided to market it as an upgrade of the 900. This because the 500 Pro X fixes some of the complaints people had about the 900.
I wish the review had tested the handheld adapter for the 900 . I couldn't find a review which included the Handheld Microphone Holder for the Blink 900.
Some of the differences between the 900 and the 500 Pro X:
    500 X range 100m
900 200m Apart from reviews on RUclips, I don't think people will care about that as most people will work with a maximum distance of 30 m.
    500 Pro X sample rate 48 KHz/16 bit
900 48/24 Okay. I think this is the only real advantage of the 900 over the 500 Pro X.
500 Pro X SNR > 84 dB The 500 Pro X is a little better in this very important feature.
    900 80
500 ProX latency < 8ms. No human being will be able to distinguish a difference of less than 2ms of delay.
    900 6ms
500 Pro X receiver battery life 10 hours 4 hours could make the difference between finishing a shooting or not.
    900 6
500 Pro X receiver dimensions and weight 5.6 x 3.8 x 1.5 cm 31 grams The 500 Pro X receiver is actually smaller (in two out of three dimensions) and lighter than the 900
900 4.6 x 4.6 x 1. 6. cm. 35 grams It's the piece that will connect with the camera or phone so the smaller the better.
500 Pro X charging case additional run time 20-30 hours. recharge time 2.5 hours. weight 264 grams A staggering difference on such an important matter
    900 12 hours 4 hours weight 278 grams
500 Pro X included lavaliere. 106 dB SPL Again, the 500 Pro X performed better than the 900. And 6 db SPL is probably not an insignificant difference as many would think.
    900 100 dB SPL
I got all data from B&H and double checked with the manual on Saramonic's website. But this SPL difference I couldn't
confirm this last information on the website. It's not surprising seeing the information is rather messy on Saramonic's site.

Do you also have BIG backgound Noise HISSING. Can't figure this out on how to remove it when connecting and recording on my sony a7iii. Relying on postproduction is not such a great plan. Recently recorded in studio setting the video and background Hissing is ruining whole experience.

Turn the internal preamp down as far as you can and set the output gain on the units rather than turn the units down with the preamp gain up.

For some reason, one of the transmitters doesn't have a signal and won't be able to get paired, while the other one has a strong signal (Both are turned on at the same location). How do I resolve this? Thanks!
