    Love the video. My Ranger has 332,000 on it. Really wanna get to 400K. Just finished the gaskets and about to assemble. I didn't choose the Ranger life, the Ranger life chose me.

      Unbelievable! I'm hoping to get at least 200,000 on my 2007 2.3L, but maybe I'll get many more miles than that.

    The 5th bolt that's hard to get to on the intake manifold is easier to get to with the driver side tire removed.

    I changed my plugs at 100,000 miles and I didn't notice but there was quite a lot of oil around the plugs which drained into the cylinders. No harm done; the engine smoked a bit for a while until the oil burned off. My 2007 ranger has 147,000 on it now and still runs like a top with no oil lose between oil changes.

    Thanks for this video. I just got a free clean 2002 Ranger with this engine. It sounds like a rod but it's coming out and getting rebuilt.

    I just want to recommend, if your vehicle is on the higher mileage side, while you're in there replace the fuel pressure regulator. On my 2002 it looks like I'm going to have to remove to replace, it's leaking gas in the vacuum line. 160000 miles. Another thing to fix while you're in there is on the front of the intake down where the flappers are in front of the head, is a rubber plug on the front side of the intake that the rod runs to from the flappers, it rots out best to fill it over with JB Weld, it's not even visible when it's on the vehicle..also replace the vacuum line that goes to the flapper control as it's known for failure. Fricking Ford

      @lemmy999 6 лет назад +3

      Yep, I had a lean condition and major miss. I tracked it down to that plug falling out by randomly spraying starting fluid in the area and noticing it would run better. It was almost impossible to find. I replaced the intake with a new one. Now 4 years later my valve cover gasket is leaking terribly. When I am back in there I am going to put the JB Weld on that plug, I don't know why I didn't when I installed the new one.

    On my Mazda b2300 I was able to remove the intake out without taking the fuel line off but it took a LOT of manhandling to squeeze through so I would definitely recommend buying the fuel line removal tool.

If this were a mid 60,s engine I would check with a started fluid test but with all the new electronics I am not good . any advice would be appreciated

    Hi, I like the video. Could you please give some tips on EGR removal? I am stuck like you were. Intake manifold is loose, but I think it is the EGR tube at the rear that's blocking it from coming out. I can't feel any bolts back there and can't really see anything with the hoses in the way. Terrible design.

    hey man good vid. we have a 2010 with the 2.3 that keeps blowing the #2 plug wire off the plug. it also has oil around the plugs. do you think maybe the valve cover gaskets could be causing this?

    • @lemmy999
      @lemmy999 6 лет назад

      3 days ago I started having the same problem on #2. I took it off and noticed oil around the plug. I took off #1 and it had no oil around the plug. So I am suspecting it has something to do with it popping off ever 10-20 miles, but I can't for the life of me figure out why it would cause it to come off. My valve cover gasket is also leaking badly on the front of the motor so I guess I just need to bite the bullet and change it.

    Hi there, I have the same truck and I have a loud, intermittent knock that happens only when truck gets fully warmed up. With stethoscope it sounds loudest on front driver-side corner of the valve cover and on the power steering bracket. The knock is loud and resonates underneath the truck and from the driver wheel well, but it's very intermittent, it comes & goes. Do you have any idea what it could be that occurs only when hot?
    Thanks very much, I enjoy your Ranger videos a lot.
