    To this day, the How to Train Your Dragon franchise is the only franchise that has ever made me cry. First during Stoic’s death, and then at the end of the third film, when Hiccup learns to let go.

    Great video once again. It’s movies like this, Prince of Egypt and Kung Fu Panda that make me feel that most times DreamWorks waste their potential. That’s not to say I don’t like their more wacky stuff (El Dorado, Shrek 1and 2, Madagascar franchise, Captain Underpants and Mr. Peabody and Sherman), but there is just a great studio hiding somewhere, but mostly use it for garbage like Shark Tale, Boss Baby and Trolls. The Dragon trilogy (saw an early screening of The Hidden World) shows how when DreamWorks really puts in the effort, they can make something on par with most of Disney and Pixar material. Also, hope you enjoyed my Lego Movie 2 review and on an unrelated note, I finally read Mister Miracle and got the trade (as well as my Vision trades) signed by Tom King himself!

    The score also elevates the film in ways dialogue cannot, take the first flight scene, only the music could have made it great as it is.

    Very accurate and beautiful message.
    It's tragic that it is completely given up on by the most capable person/ society and all thrown away in the end.
    That beautiful change they fought to build never lasts and Toothless dies as a result of Hiccup's lack of fortitude and foresight.
    Dean really butchered the message and core of the characters and their arcs in the final film. Definitely slapped a bow on it to wrap this all up.
    There's been a push in the serious fan base to make the final film not canon and have a rewrite made/ released due to so many plot holes and character breaks and I would be ecstatic if that is seen through. It's an incredibly made film, just how the characters, the story, and overall message was feigned, forced, and outright egregious in multiple instances.
    So much work, passion, and progress gained in their world and one of the most beloved characters... now dead.

    • @aydin5978
      @aydin5978 2 года назад

      It's not quite THAT ruined, but the ending was definitely a bit of a twist.

    • @Sarah-ov1rb
      @Sarah-ov1rb 2 года назад

      @Aydin never said it was ruined to any given degree.... just presented a list of objective points that occurred in the film and how they fundamentally posed conflict, contradictions, and or completely disregarded what the franchise had worked so hard to develop and establish with its themes, plot, story, and characters.

    • @aydin5978
      @aydin5978 2 года назад

      @@Sarah-ov1rb I think the original post, saying "all thrown out" or "now dead," gave me that feeling. I agree though, I feel like the ending seemed illogical and kinda railroaded, not considering other options that would have made a lot more sense and been better overall. I'd hope there could have been other ways to get the story's message across (which I think was a good message, letting go has to be a part of life - though letting go doesn't mean gone forever). I think I was just pointing out that despite how the conclusion was handled, it still did *work* as a conclusion - not *all* bad.

    • @Sarah-ov1rb
      @Sarah-ov1rb 2 года назад

      @Aydin I didn't think it was all bad. There were many great aspects sprinkled throughout.
      "Now dead" was meant literally as Toothless did die.
