To tell the truth, the terrorists are the foot soldiers of the imperialists. Terror grows with foreign military presence. Not just a coincidence at least in the case of French bases. There is an abundance of evidence to support it. Ask the government of Mali!!

The purpose of these neo colonialist foreign troops on African soil is not to fight the jihadists whom they created, but to ensure a coup is carried out if any African leader went against the interest of the neo colonialists. France nd America had military bases in Niger for over 20 years yet these terrorists grew in size within this period nd almost took over the entire country.

The reason why President Yoweri Museveni refused to sign such agreement with USA in Uganda is because of such blanket immunity to US soldiers. Nigeria should watch out. Can a foreign country ask to put their military on American soil. African nations are ridding themselves of subversive foreign presence in their sovereign nations because it comes with dire liabilities. This is not the first time that the French and Americans asked to have military bases in Nigeria, each time, the requests have been rejected. We need to concentrate on our internal issues instead of inviting more problems.

I thought you people should press for a better developed, trained and we'll equiped military rather than a downgraded one. Most European countries that fell into this trap found themselves slaves to American policies either good or bad. Today Europe is a victim of this. Now they find it difficult to come out of it. Most countries in Europe depends on US military instead of a strong European army that is independent. Any wonder Macron has taken the lead in advocating for a Europe that it's military is independent of US but I think it is probably too late for them. China has done that successfully, India, Pakistan and a few other have built their military instead of looking for foreign military's assistance.

Nigeria fought diplomatically for the decolonization of Africa and the end of apartheid in southern Africa, thus earning the position of a "Frontline State" even though located in West Africa. Those were the glorious years of Nigeria's foreign policy.

But that's actually how the US and the West play. The hegemons will do everything to bring down and destabilize any potential to expose their exploitation and neoclonial activities. Besides, it's not just for sovereignty but the often ignored role of those military bases ensuring the hegemons' companies stealing our resources unchecked. So, in that respect Nigeria actually deserves credit for even surviving thus far.

We condemn in totality America and France military base. We don't want second colonialism. America couldn't stop terrorists in Bukina-Faso and Niger republic, America couldn't stop terrorists in Afghanistan but ended up withdrawal of their military base from Afghanistan when Taliban over America soldiers. It's America and France sucking the riches of Bukina-Faso and Niger republic that led them to expelled their military. Have you asked a question why France force refuse to go back after almost 3 African nations expelled them, rather they chose to still pestering around African countries. European still want to subjugate African and continue to rule them for live and used them for WW3 as they did for WW2.

It’s such a disgraceful reality the eminent Nigerian professor Ibraham could not assure the Nigerian people that there governments actions could be fully and comprehensively trusted in dealing with the matter of the US base request on Nigerian soil, and that the Nigerian government would never compromise the sovereignty of the Nigerian people secretly. This is the shameful lack of trust the Nigerian people even eminent citizens have of successive Nigerian governments, bought about by decades of corruption and blatant disregard of its citizens rights, welfare, and security. For such a significant African country to have normalised corruption and dishonesty in it’s highest institutions is beyond reprehensible,It’s quite evil and and affirms the absolute need for leaders to fight against corruption and corrupt practices. If elected government officials refused to fight against corruption when it threatens the security and sovereignty of the nation then arguably are they not traitors are they not committing a treasonous crime against their people. It’s time Nigerians recognise they deserve better from their leaders.
