We love hoop cheese and LOVE these biscuits! Several gas stations and small restaurants in our eastern NC hometown sell them. We often get some on the weekend...YUM!!!

@@dr.stacey7283 Yes, Little Washington! Our favorite place for a cheese biscuit is King Chicken. We also really like Mom's Grill (don't be scared by the appearance!) and the Travel Store #7. You can also get a great one at Slatestone Grocery or at Acre Station Meat Farm (in nearby PInetown). All of these places have excellent ENC cheese biscuits!
I've lived in North Carolina, and they aren't the same as these. The best ones, in my opinion, are from a little gas station called Mom's Grill in Washington, NC. Where Ms. HELAN has worked there many years. Her cheese biscuits are one of a kind. You should go see. These are like the ones from Adam's Restaurants.
Yeah the cheese needs to be mixed throughout, plus alternative add-ins are more commonly black pepper and country ham. Never seen a fried egg or chicken on a cheese biscuit from a restaurant.
yep thats exactly why im here when i was younger i use go to north carolina every weekend in hunting season and we would get these in the morning at the gas station up the road.
The best cheese biscuits are from The Little Rocket in Farmville, N C. Their frozen biscuits can be ordered from their website and can be shipped everywhere.
Thanks for commenting that it is eastern North Carolina. I am a native from western NC and never heard of them. North Carolina has a number of areas that have distinct recipes and foods. Hoop cheese is common in western NC also.
Man me and my grandma and all my great aunts would stop at the trade mart and get us a cheese biscuit before church . This is accurate, a 252 thing no doubt . Can’t find them in restaurants, gotta be a gas station or hole in the wall business

I don't miss much about Eastern NC but I still think about the most cheesy, buttery, fluffiest biscuit of my life from a little gas station. I only had it once (otherwise I probably would have died in NC of a heart attack). I will not be making this, just dreaming about it.
@Angel Bulldog ma'am,, I agree with you 100 %, just a few examples, real cheese is worse for you than that fake like velveeta, cheese whiz, bacon is bad for you, eggs are bad for you, etc... my Pa & Ma been eating those real foods all their life & their 83, I am like you, the FDA/USDA are just guessing, it's preservatives that are bad for you, I'm 58 yr old Irishman from rural Kentucky, you & I will just keep eating our good food as we are fine, God bless you & yours ma'am

I would love those on an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet plate!!!😉
They do use a green screen background. In the very first few seconds it has one chef in the back working on the cutting board after just chopping onions. Just three days ago on the eggplant video in the background is the same chef chopping onions. They are not exactly the same scene but it looks like it is within a minute.
@Henry Nah. I guess you didn’t notice that the background chef wears a black undershirt in the eggplant episode and a white one in this video. They shoot several cooking segments on the same day for multiple episodes and simply have the same staff assigned to specific areas.

No disrespect but these two ladies ain’t even making that biscuit the way it’s supposed to be. Using cheddar is simply NOT acceptable. She turned the AP flour into self rising flour by adding baking powder, baking soda and a little salt, that's the only difference between the two flours, the self rising already comes with baking powder and soda sifted in. Great recipe, have a great day everyone

Top 'em off with a little scoop of grape jelly on each bite. Or strawberry, that's good too.

Better than fried egg or chicken cutlet, would be a piece of fresh sausage or tenderloin covered in gravy.

Does anyone know how long to cook these?
5 mins at 500 degrees, then 450 for ???
