Shouldn't that imply that Soldier Boy is just that strong and durable? It doesn't automatically mean that Starlight's attack was weak or useless. Against normal people, they would fly away or get blinded by it
Soldier Boy was so awesome in this season, being able to throw hands with Homelander and dominating the majority of the fight with Starlight and The Boys. Everyone even ended up resorting in trying to sedate him or sacrificing themselves in Maeve’s case to defeat him not just out of desperation but also because Soldier Boy was just THAT powerful and dangerous

Soldier Boy was my favorite character this season. He was like the only one who was actually consistent with what they wanted and tried to follow through on it. He’s obviously a shitty human but I’d rather he have killed Homelander, seeing as Homelander is just the worst and most dangerous living thing on the planet in this series.

I know a lot of people were underwhelmed with Starlights blast but the point is she started to fly. Only Stormfront and Homelander, the most powerful heroes could do that. And she managed to knock Soldier Boy off his feet with a blast. She’s still young and coming into her own but i guess it’s too showcase she has a lot of more power potential than you know.

To me Starlight represents people who usually don’t feel sufficiently strong to go against the all powerful but proves that a little bit of courage goes a long way. She may not be powerful enough to neutralize Soldier boy but she’s not alone, her attitude has been inspirational all season and instead of spewing hate and whining like some, she used her skills to rally people to her cause, people like Queen Maeve who are a lot stronger than her and that helped her get rid of the real danger. I also loved how Queen Maeve overcame her fear of Homelander. This season was awesome. And Starlight went from a character I could not stand to someone I’d like to be like, yeah, even if I’m a 6’4 black guy.
People either want a jacked up male version of a woman who is also sexy or a crying, whining damsel-in-distress. When toxic feminism swings the pendulum the other way, a lot of male population (not all but a lot of them) like to cry out how stupid and unrealistic things are. Starlight is a great character, because like you pointed out, she is strong in her own way. In real people terms, it's always people like Starlight who do the best they can and rally others to their cause and inspire them to do the right thing, even if it poses a chance that they'll get themselves killed in the process are the ones who make changes. Starlight's power or what she did in this moment is obviously not supposed to counter Soldier Boy by herself. If she had done that, people would have called her unrealistic and her character a token one. But now that she has done what she could in that moment, trying her level best, people want to laugh at how useless it was. I don't get it what do these people want? It's almost like they don't live in real world, among real people with different emotions and power and struggle who each takes stand for what they believe in and fight the daily fight in their own ways.

First at Herogasm, she wanted to stop Soldier Boy on her own, like how stupid she can be? Soldier Boy could rip her apart like nothing.
Then it is her whole "I don't need you to save me" speech to Hughie which is kinda stupid as to how in previous episodes she was scared and crying because Homelander had gone mental. She atleast should have appreaciated Hughie for helping
Everyone likes Queen Maeve not because she is sexy or whatever you are assuming, she actually is powerful with combat skills.
I like Starlight but she doesn't have any development in terms of power throughout the whole season, like I would have liked if they shown her training her powers and then struggling but no, there is nothing impressive to suggest that Starlight become stronger interms of power or skill. Only for that last episode, even that wasn't impressive. Starlight knocked him before without he power amp, so what's the difference when even with her amped up power she is producing the same damage?
Every time some supes try to hurt Starlight or Hughie, she just do those light flickering and then either fight doesn't happen (which is most of the time) or she blast but the other supe wake up like nothing happened.
She sucks
Why is Starlight so weak? The blow she threw hurt herself the most, while Soldierboy remained unharmed. Why did the writers decide to make her useless, insignificant and inoffensive ?

They really piled on soldier boy when the bigger threat was homelander. Just for the plot..
Homelander would have killed everyone afterwards if it weren't for Ryan. The Boys who are supposed to hunt Supes have to get saved by another Supe once again.

Two mild criticisms:

2. The Novichok in that bottle should have killed everyone else in the room before it stunned Soldier Boy. That mask can't be completely airtight and it's so lethal that the tiny amount of gas leaking out the sides would be deadly

Hughie looks absolutely proud of his girlfriend and Im all for it!! I hope they develop SL power further in future season. I love the build up here but it was a bit anticlimatic when all of that for a little push.

Interesting, Homelander may be physically stronger compared to Soldier boy but Soldier Boy s invulnerability is on a whole new level. Soldier boy s skin tissue ain´t like Homelanders 2:03, which would also explain why Homelander ended up with a bruise after their fight but Soldier Boy didnt.
Homelander is “stronger” but if SB blasted him he would lose his power and Butcher would beat him to death.
There is nothing that can hurt Soldier Boy. He’s basically unable to die.

It may seem underwhelming, but Starlight managed to knock him several feet and left him stunned enough for everyone to swarm him-that takes some doing given how he was literally just swatting away every other attack👌 she's finally discovering just how far her powers can go
I really like The Boys, and I loved Maeve's heroism here, first going toe-to-toe with Homelander (and doing all right) and then taking Soldier Boy out of the building. But at 2:20, this scene falls into the ridiculous. Soldier Boy has just thrown off Starlight, Kimiko and MM and is building up to fire his energy blast, facing the three of them, who are just standing there like three simpletons. He's about to fire and Starlight and Kimiko, who are supes, aren't even trying to do anything about it.
Both Starlight and Kimiko have superhuman strength. Pick him up and throw him through the window, do something! Try to avoid the blast! Stand behind him when he fires. Nope, they just stand there while he's aiming right at them.
I can see where you're coming from but Starlight is pretty drained here cuz she just did that big blast and i can't remember super well but I think the others were also super tired at this point in the fight.
Also, some people freeze up when they see sth they believe to be incredibly dangerous and deadly so it's possible that happened?

Even without access to electricity, Starlight once pushed her way through a vault door. She doesn't need power reserves to access her strength.
We also know that Soldier Boy is stronger than most supes, perhaps all of them, save Homelander. If they had shown Kimiko and Starlight fighting against Soldier Boy, as he built up his charge, then Queen Maeve could have pushed her way through them and taken Soldier Boy out the window with her.
Or maybe he could have restrained Kimiko and Starlight as he built up his charge. He's stronger than the two of them, even the two of them put together.

For me, I don't think it's bad writing per se, just wanting to portray a different vibe (like, a feeling of helplessness and inevitably, rather than of overcoming impossible odds), but I know what you mean where it's frustrating that they don't just do STH, like you said, they're literally supers and supposed to be the best of us, but even they flake sometimes I guess

It's hard to describe that look. Maeve has just lost an eye and Starlight is like, "Aww, that's terrible. Homelander must have done that to you. But it will all over for all of us in a few seconds."

The people saying Starlight's moment was anticlimactic are missing the point entirely. This isn't an underdog rising up moment, it's showing us that even with a significant boost to her power she alone just can't compete with Soldier Boy. Thats what i like about this show. Some people are just that powerful and it takes a team effort to effectively take them down. Having Starlight miraculously gain the ability to singlehandedly do damage to Soldier Boy would make everything The Boys stand for redundant. Its not about being the most powerful, it's about doing what's right even whilst knowing it could fail.

It also showed us that she has the potential to fly which I hope we see developed next season 😊

Of Solider Boy's faults, I don't think he showed racism - he had a callous disregard for life, but it didn't seem specific to any race or creed.
Might be a supe, but a metal straw through the ear would affect anyone's sense of balance for at least a little bit. It was a good play.
To put Starlight into the Seven was probably Vought's worst economical decision.
Uhhhh except she was a money-making asset for them and even boosted Homelander's rating astronomically after his insane, ego-stroking public meltdown.
Starlight was in a TV studio surrounded by high intensity lights, not exactly a normal situation and probably the optimum setup for her powers and it amounted to a small shove. Also how do her powers work? Does she get power from visible light? Does she get power from electromagnetic radiation in general? If the latter she should have been able to absorb solider boys power and used it against him.
I think it's supposed to be just visible light but i swear she's affected electricity before in like season 1
@@ryan_uwu The Boys wiki says she absorbs electricity and converts it into blasts of light. Though it's not "normal" light as it also has a kinetic impact and can be used to heat objects too.
I guess that's why electronic equipment goes crazy when she's using her powers nearby.

All that power, all that buildup, and all she did was knock him down for a couple of seconds.
Well it is soldier boy who is debatably tougher than homelander and it actually did wear him down quite a bit because normally it would take homelander leveled supes to restrain him but here kimiko and starlight who he was wrecking before were now able to restrain him.
Starlight will rise without Vought. Now that she has this new ability, she is clearly moving on to bigger/better things

i know starlight's power are not that good and people are saying her most powerful attack did nothing to soldier boy but if you look, SB took a piece of his shield to attack Starlight. This scene once again begs the question: why couldn't Starlight power up like this with Stormfront's lightning???

Why does Starlight suck? She's never won a fight on the show that wasn't against mundane losers. She got spanked by A-Train, she got spanked by Stormfront, and she got spanked by Soldier Boy. Even at the most powerful we've ever seen her, she barely knocked Soldier Boy over. She's just a big bag of uselessness. The writers really don't want her to have any impact on the show beyond complaining.

Maeve had to put up with all of homelanders bs for a long time. He even said he’d harvest her eggs (fkn cringe) she offed herself to kill soldier boy and was very successful, unfortunately, because she was a real hero. Homelander is literally the embodiment of Lord Voldemort. He sees nothing wrong with collateral damage and sees himself on a pedestal above the rest, even superheroes. He has a twisted mind and talks down to everyone because he has the power to do so. He’s the biggest threat to the world.

Maeve proved she's a real hero.
To everyone saying that the blast did nothing well first off its frikin soldier boy who endured 40 years of constant torture and some say that he's even tougher than homelander and secondly it actually did stun him and wear him down quite a lot because normally it would take homelander leveled supes to restrain someone like him but here kimiko and starlight were able to and allow mm to put the vapor mask on his face and it also caused him to loose control of his chest explosion and so yeah it did do quite a bit to an unbelievably tough supe.
