It definitely was a different seed, but they were very sweet. I ate my share. Always have to test them to make sure they are not bitter. Thanks for watching.
This is exactly what I wanted to know. I purchased as Food Saver vacuum sealer from Goodwill and was wondering how I could use it for eggplants. Thank you for this excellent video!
Thank you for the videos and how to prepare all the vegetables God bless you and family enjoy all of them canning and everything love those eggplants peppers and the string beans thank you again keep up the good work keep bringing those videos
It is amazing how how these different varieties taste nothing like commercially available eggplant. We eat year round from the garden. Thanks for watching.
This is what makes all the work put into growing a garden worthwhile. The flavor of fresh picked heirloom varieties can't be beat. Thanks for watching.
I'm totally amazed at your sunflowers! You are doing something right, for sure. I wish I could have helped taste test the zucchini, they looked so good. Thanks for sharing.
They are just seeds that dropped from last years plants that were 1/2 that size. Never seen sunflowers turn into trees before. Must be all the sunshine this year. I had my share of the eggplant also. Thanks for watching.
That beautiful round pink striped egg plant is Rosa Bianca instead of Ponderosa. You are right, must have been miss labeled. I learned to harvest them early when the seeds are tiny. As a beginning gardener I used to want to go for size, to the detriment of tenderness and quality. Great idea to bread them and have them already in the freezer.
They are very sweet and creamy so it doesn't matter to me. I will definitely plant them again. It is the only way we could find to freeze them and in the middle of winter they still taste awesome. Thanks for watching.
We love eggplant! Those look awesome. We upgraded to a VacMaster 112S from our food saver so we could seal liquids like soups without fouling the seals. Works perfect even for refrigerator instant pickles. Keep up the great work.
The pulse button works ok for moist and delicate items and I know exactly what you mean about liquids. I will have to look into one like yours. Thanks for watching.
Everything stays much better since we switched from ziplocks to the vacuum bags. Great for breaking up bulk packages from Costco also. Thanks for watching.
another amazing video!! and the kitchen looks AWESOME!! my wife is even watching and wants the kitchen walls like yours because we are using the same granite. THANKS SO MUCH!!
Thanks there is a video about how I did the wainscoating a little ways back. We love the granite and the extra 6 inches made a big difference. Thanks for watching.
New sub. Here...love it I've got so many eggplants now I know what to do with them...I've watched alot of vidos yours is the best to follow..thank u for your time ❤
They freeze great and the rosa Bianca's really are sweet and freeze great. We reheat in the air fryer and they crisp up like they are fresh. Thanks for watching.
I didn't know that you can freeze them. That's great. Nothing goes to waste. I have the purple ones. It has 6 big semi big one. It also have lot of flowers. Here they grow all year. I also have a baby one that is black eggplant which I'm planning to put them together. Great video. Loved and Subbed.
They freeze great, just fry them quickly so they don't overcook. If you can grow them year round it wouldn't pay to freeze them because fresh is always better. Thanks for watching.
I love your videos and that you and your wife like to do it together. My husband and I do too. I also use my knife in the same way 😉. We are trying sweet corn and eggplants this coming season so learning how to preserve the eggplants.
It makes everything easier when you work together. I gave up on corn because raccoons chewed it up on me a couple times. Eggplant stays great in the freezer. Thanks for watching.
I used to but lately I just let the birds have them. Hopefully some seeds falling from them will grow next years sunflowers. The eggplant are very good this year. Thanks for watching.
In France, we always cut toward ourselves, that is the only way to use our thumb to control the thickness of the cut. I was very intrigued the first time I saw people cutting away, when I moved to Thailand. You don't use a knife the same way to peel an egg plant or to carve a stick!
Many people will just cut down into the cutting board when peeling but that just wastes to much as the cut can't be controlled as you say. Thanks for watching.
I have never seen them peeled. Do they taste better or store better peeled or do you just enjoy the taste more? Janice That's ok. I see your answer to the question below.
Pandora’s box! I believe you’ve discovered cross pollination. With all those industrious bees around and the eggplants close together, you've grown the start of one hybrid with another :-) I bet if you grew them again with a breathable covering over the flower you would harvest what it looks like on the seed packet picture.
No, it was mixed up seed packaging. They had others report the same issue when I contacted them. Eggplant are self pollinating and usually don't Cross. Thanks for watching.
Great video, those sunflowers are amazing. Why don't you leave the skin on the Eggplant ('Aubergine' here in the U.K.) when you cook them? Most of the nutrients are in the skin, although I suppose they could be a bit tough if the fruit is more mature.
The pulse feature helps with fragile food and moist items like chicken that can cause a bad seal. We got this one at Costco a couple years ago. Thanks for watching.
This is good to know - thanks for answering so quickly ;-))) I am currently doing a lot of preserves and canning from the fruits in my garden, but need to learn a lot about veggie prepping because the veggie patches in our garden are newer and we are planning to expand them. So your videos sure help.
They are fully cooked and reheat perfectly in our air fryer. We just use canola but any cooking oil will work. I don't know the temp. The fryer has the perfect preset temp with no adjustment. They freeze great. Thanks for watching.
I doubt it with the shape they developed. I think for eggplants it would be the next generation of seeds that would have different traits. Thanks for watching.
No they were just seeds that fell from last years sunflowers that were only half the size. I have never seen sunflower plants turn into trees before. Thanks for watching.
Is my family an exception, or does anyone else keep the skin on? Always have. Knew no different until I started watching recipes for eggplant. I personally don't taste anything nasty with the skin left on.
They are bitter to me but don't bother my wife so I think everyone's taste buds are different. Just like tomato seeds in sauce ruin the flavor for me. Plus when you bread them to freeze the breading does not stick to the skin. Thanks for watching.
I never peel eggplant, the way I slice them 1/3 in and the skin cooks. Did you know that do to my social security limiting my food budget, 3 slices of eggplant make a meal for me, with sauce, mushrooms, peppers and onion, if you put fresh lemon juice in the water eggplant doesn't oxidize. A meal for less than one dollar, 1 only eat 2 meals a day, and I have four cats to feed I spend about $150. a month, on blue buffalo grain free cat food, grain free treats $40.00, $30.00 Household and personal care.$60.00 Food, and $20.00 to stock up on sale items. All the vitamins are in the skin of the eggplant. I love your channel, I no longer garden, I have the room but I am 71, and bending is brutal. i eat
I don't like the bitterness of eggplant skin plus breading doesn't stick to it very good so we remove it. As we age including veggies in the diet is very important and having a garden is a great way to make high quality veggies affordable. A little extra work freezing and canning allows us to enjoy them year round. I am not a cat person but have 2 wonderful dogs and know having pets can get expensive. Thanks for watching
Oh my goodness I would have eaten myself silly had I been there!! The blush colored one looks like the variety Rose Bianca. Thanks for sharing!!!!
Amazing how nice it cooks up in the airfryer. Tastes like fresh. Thanks for watching.
Thanks so much for sharing. So sweet to see the both of you working together in the kitchen side-by-side 💞
Thanks. It really helps speed tasks up. Thanks for watching.
My egg plants are ready to pick and now I know how to prepare them for freezing thank you both oceans of 💙 from Florida
Fresh picked are the best. Thanks for watching.
Everything is beautiful in the garden. Cooking and freezing the eggplant is a great idea. This is very nice video.
Thanks. We are doing another run tomorrow. We found out the air fryer reheats it so it tastes like it is fresh out of the garden. Thanks for watching.
Made me laugh. Thank you. I’ve used a knife my entire life, and always pealed that way. Two hours! Been there, done that! Loved the sunflowers.
For some reason I get many comments condemning my peeling technique 🙄. Just got done with this years batch . Thanks for watching.
Thank you for the videos and how to prepare all the vegetables God bless you and family enjoy all of them canning and everything love those eggplants peppers and the string beans thank you again keep up the good work keep bringing those videos
Thanks. It is the only way to know exactly what you are eating these days. Thanks for watching
I'm not a fan of eggplant but your setup and harvest are fantastic. It's inspiring to see you folks put up so much of your own food.
It is amazing how how these different varieties taste nothing like commercially available eggplant. We eat year round from the garden. Thanks for watching.
Those sunflowers are amazing. The eggplant looks delicious. Have a great day!
Thanks for watching.
Thank you for sharing. My mother used to fry them with the skin on. That was the best part for me.
We don't for freezing the breading doesn't stick to the skin and it can be bitter. Thanks for watching.
Just really love watching these farm to table videos !
This is what makes all the work put into growing a garden worthwhile. The flavor of fresh picked heirloom varieties can't be beat. Thanks for watching.
Your sunflowers are amazing! We are trying to grow Black Beauty eggplants the first time this year. Thanks for sharing!
Be sure to keep them watered well. If it gets dry they can turn bitter. Thanks for watching.
We will! Thanks for responding! Have a great weekend!
Truly appreciate your video. Now I know how to prepare mine for freezing. Thanks!
It stays great in the freezer and we get best results reheating and crisping it up in the air fryer. Thanks for watching.
I'm totally amazed at your sunflowers! You are doing something right, for sure. I wish I could have helped taste test the zucchini, they looked so good. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent video. Exactly what I needed to freeze up my eggplant this year thanks so much
They freeze well. We have been using the air fryer for reheating them and it does a great job. Thanks for watching.
We love eggplant! Those look awesome. We upgraded to a VacMaster 112S from our food saver so we could seal liquids like soups without fouling the seals. Works perfect even for refrigerator instant pickles. Keep up the great work.

Thx for showing the freezer bag machine!
Everything stays much better since we switched from ziplocks to the vacuum bags. Great for breaking up bulk packages from Costco also. Thanks for watching.
You and your wife always have the best ideas for food! :-)
Nothing fancy and we don't use spices that alter the great flavors of home grown veggies. Thanks for watching.
thanks a millions wonderful way of freezing and using eggplants
They come out great like this. We just crisp them up in the air fryer. Thanks for watching.
another amazing video!! and the kitchen looks AWESOME!! my wife is even watching and wants the kitchen walls like yours because we are using the same granite. THANKS SO MUCH!!

My husband and I enjoy eggplant too!I use a potato peeler to peel mine.We fry them like you do and also really like eggplant lasagna.
We haven't tried that yet. I like eggplant parmesan. They are great plain on the grill also. Thanks for watching.
Never thought of freezing eggplant. Love it as parm.
This is the only way we have found that the eggplant freezes well. Thanks for watching
Love sunflowers!
My favorite also.
Those sunflowers are amazing! Great vid on those eggplant. I've never frozen them before.
They stay great in the freezer and heat up quickly in the oven. Thanks for watching.
Very helpful information, thanks
Thanks for watching.
Enjoyed that -- thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching.

Forget a beebox, you got sunflowers. My 2nd fave flower besides dogwoods.
Lately the number bees has been increasing by leaps and bounds. There's always a buzz coming from the sunflowers. Thanks for watching.
Peel has so much nutrition! Eat those !
They taste bitter to me so we toss them. Plus the breading doesn't stay on the skin. Thanks for watching.
I didn't know that you can freeze them. That's great. Nothing goes to waste. I have the purple ones. It has 6 big semi big one.

Yes, we will probably have the same issue as we have never figured out how to keep them out of our darn attic during the winter.
Ah, I've been wondering what to do with my Aubergine other than Ratatouille. Thank you for this.
Just finished up freezing another batch. They go great with our sauce when heated in the oven. Thanks for watching.
I did not know that you could do this with eggplant ! I am now on a mission!! lol
It takes some time to prepare it but is so good in the middle of winter. Thanks for watching.
Subscribed!
Thanks for watching and subbing.
Potato peeler works great on eggplant
I never had much luck using ours. Mine is a pretty crummy peeler though. Thanks for watching.

Beautiful sunflowers do you ever dry the seeds and eat them. Egg plants good yummy.
I used to but lately I just let the birds have them. Hopefully some seeds falling from them will grow next years sunflowers. The eggplant are very good this year. Thanks for watching.

They freeze very well. Spent today freezing this year's batch. Thanks for watching.
The finger ones u can cut it along or better do it in escabeche!!!
Thanks for watching.

Good to know - love learning about each type of plant. Thanks for sharing your beautiful garden.
Great video, those sunflowers are amazing. Why don't you leave the skin on the Eggplant ('Aubergine' here in the U.K.) when you cook them? Most of the nutrients are in the skin, although I suppose they could be a bit tough if the fruit is more mature.
The breadding sticks better on the edges and they come out looking better. For freezing we always remove it. Thanks for watching.
Ok that makes sense, thanks for the reply. Think I'll give them a go myself, your's looked excellent.
I need to get a new food saver! Love yours. I have to freeze such fragile foods then seal as mine doesn’t have the options that yours does. 🍆🍆🍆
The pulse feature helps with fragile food and moist items like chicken that can cause a bad seal. We got this one at Costco a couple years ago. Thanks for watching.
Have you tried dehydrating eggplant. Trying to now decide what to do with this large harvest. thanks
No we haven't. We freeze all of ours. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for watching.
Sure look good-
They are best in the middle of the winter with some melted mozzarella and home made sauce. Thanks for watching.
What kind of vacuum machine do you have? That one is amazing.
We have a food saver. Thanks for watching.
Thank you for this video. Could you also tell me where you purchase the machine or the name of the machine. thank you
Which one? The foodsaver bag sealer was not very good and I have a recent video about the new one from Costco that replaced it. Thanks for watching.
Can you share the sunflower variety name please?
They are beautiful!
Not sure what most of them are anymore the way they reseed every year. our favorites are the big fluffy teddy bear sunflowers. Thanks for watching.
Those look good. Are you going to have enough freezer space for everything you have to freeze from the garden? Keep up the good work.
Somehow the freezers are always full by fall. We can most everything else. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for the video! But why do we remove the skin? Is it optional?
We remove them because some can add a bitter flavor plus the breading will fall off with the smooth skin. Thanks for watching.
Hi Can you freeze eggplant with out cooking, freezing sliced not whole. thanks
linda
I don't think so. Do a web search . Thanks for watching.
You don't blanch them before freezing?
We fry them. They are totally cooked and crisp up nice in the air fryer after defrosting. Thanks for watching.
They look great. Did you cook them completely or partial? What type of oil did you use and do you know the temp?
They are fully cooked and reheat perfectly in our air fryer. We just use canola but any cooking oil will work. I don't know the temp. The fryer has the perfect preset temp with no adjustment. They freeze great. Thanks for watching.
Good evening! Love all of your videos! I was wondering if you've ever tried this cooking and freezing method with squash or zucchini?
We tried zucchini but it is mushy and not very good when reheated. Thanks for watching
Maybe your eggplants cross pollinated with the other round eggplant?
I doubt it with the shape they developed. I think for eggplants it would be the next generation of seeds that would have different traits. Thanks for watching.
bonjour , do you start the sunflower in side in the winter .
No they were just seeds that fell from last years sunflowers that were only half the size. I have never seen sunflower plants turn into trees before. Thanks for watching.
Why do you peel their skin off?
Because it tastes bitter to me and the breading doesn't stick to it very good. Thanks for watching.

Your Pandora Striped Rose look like my Rosa Bianca eggplant. I think your seeds were put in the wrong envelope.
I think so also. I told Baker Creek they may have mixed up seeds. They are a great eggplant so it doesn't matter. Thanks for watching.
Hi, I'm new to gardening. Could these have cross pollinated?
:-)
Thanks for watching.
:-)
FIRST!!
Wow. You are quick. Thanks for watching.
