Dear Bob! I’m a 71 year old woman whom you’ve made feel like 21 again! Have a Delta 200 faucet. It’s been discontinued, so every plumber in the last three years said nope! No parts you need new one. A little research, your excellent you-tube and my stubbornness resulted in victory!!! Thanks so much! And that plumbers grease… love it! Gonna use it on my knee🤣!

Worked great. Faucet fixed and it turns on and off smoothly. I ended up using a rubber strap wrench since my channel locks were a touch too small, but the strap wrench just barely worked. This video saved me an expensive visit by the plumber. Thanks.

Thank you so much for this video. I'm getting ready to fix my 20 year old Delta faucet (which I still love) but it's discontinued and it was a bit of work to find the model #, parts pdf, and real Delta parts to fix it. This video showed replacing the O rings, which I hadn't seen in previous videos. Well done.

Thanks, I hope you don't mind me saying this, you missed some important points. 1. Before removing the cap nut, open the tap to drain any pressure /water. 2. When using the channel lock pliers, wrap a cloth around the cap nut so you do not scratch it. 3. Close the stopper in the sink so you will not lose any parts down the drain.

Good video.... Thanks. I don’t do this everyday but found that with Chinese made faucet -the base does not lift up to expose the 2 rubber O rings. Also your wearing black gloves obscured the orientation of the rubber ring to the spring ... not being mechanically minded I would have liked some contrast with this before seating them into the base.

Excellent Video but on my faucet, 10 Clydesdales could not pull off the spout to get at the 2 large O-rings. I've tried every lubricant possible to squirt down hoping to release it but no joy. We ended up breaking the detachable spout because moving it left to right caused so much stress. Obviously replacing the detachable portion of the spout did not fix the jammed O-ring situation.

This is a long shot, but I have a Delta foundations single handle faucet. It drips, so I got a kit to replace the seat and springs. Looks good and doesn't drip, as long as the faucet handle is in a very particular position. The housing where the springs and seats are, right under the ball, fills with water. When the water supply is off, it kept filling with water. I removed the handle and the o-rings looked good, I didn't replace those as the man at home Depot told me to get just the springs and seats kit. Could it be that I need to replace the o-rings under the handle as well? Thank you for a great, helpful video!

It's happened to me a few times, we have pretty good water quality here. You can try to drill it out (time consuming) or what I have done is to back off the retaining collar that holds down the ball with the handle intact. It will hit the handle, but if you keep backing it off with a pair of channel lock pliers, the ball retaining collar and handle should all come out in one piece. Then I just install a new ball and new handle. You should be able to save the retaining collar by just cutting off the stem of the old ball. If the faucet is 10 plus years or older, I would replace it. Hope that helps, Bob.

    • @BobsPlumbingVideos
      @BobsPlumbingVideos  2 года назад

I've often had to break the handle off cause it wouldn't budge. Then replace then rebuild the entire inside to include a new ball and handle. If it's an older version Delta, it may be more cost effective to replace the faucet. They're not that expensive.

I had changed the seats/springs (aftermarket) and ball back in Feb. 2015 and that stopped dripping. A week ago, the dripping from faucet started again. This time I ordered all Genuine DElta parts from a plumbing place and today changed the seats/springs, the cam, and a new ball. The metal nib where ball goes in, is not worn at all. The dripping did stop, but now, I'm not sure for how long. Very frustrating, but I hope the DELTA parts last longer than 3 months.

take the aerator off before you open it for the first time or you're likely to get tiny pieces of shutoff valve rubber in the aerator which will reduce water flow, let the pieces flush for a moment then close the faucet and put the aerator back on

Does this kit work for the Bathroom sinks too? I have 2 Delta Faucets in my vanity. They are only 10 years old. Both are leaking cold water. I am really used to plumbing fixtures lasting much longer than this. And one is used by my husband - one is used by me, two very different users. Is there a known defect in any of Delta's bathroom sinks? We have now been forced to just turn off the cold water while I look for a way to repair the faucets. So is this the same way to fix a bathroom sink with a single control stem?

For the most part the springs are cone shaped, the wide end goes into the faucet followed by the rubber seat (washer). There were earlier spring versions that were straight, but those are obsolete.

    • @BobsPlumbingVideos

The plastic cam or the threaded cover that holds the cam in place? Trying to remove the chrome cover that holds the cam down can sometimes be a pain in the butt. If you try grabbing it with a channel lock pliers you could "egg shape" it which could end up destroying it.
You might try spraying it with WD-40, let it soak in and try it. I many times could not get it off and ended up replacing the faucet. How old is the faucet?

Bob, great video. I have the same kitchen faucet. Yesterday my son came over to help me with repair as I had a Delta parts kit (not the ball). When we removed the plate on top, I saw that there was a 1 piece cam, without an adjusting ring on top.
As my kit had the older 2 piece cam I left the new one in, and we just replaced the seats/springs and 2 o rings.
My son said the old plate loosened by hand, so he didnt use wrench when he tightened it later.
The faucet is dripping unless the handle is moved back and forth.
    2 Questions
    1. Should we use wrench to tighten, like you did?
    2. Is that 1 piece cam on all the newer Delta's? Very hard to find online.
Thanks again for a very informative and nice video.
    2.

Is it Dripping from the nozzle or from the top by the cam? If by the nozzle two thoughts come to mind. A. check that the old ball is in good condition (when I do a re-build) i change everything. B. Check that the old springs and seats match the new ones. Delta had gone from a straight spring and taller seat to a tapered spring and shorter seat and this could be causing the problem. You can always send me some pictures to info@bobplumbingvideos.com.

Bob, thanks for the fast reply. It is dripping from nozzle. It seems I have to flip up handle or slide it to have water stop (slow drip). The seats/springs I used from the kit matched the old ones that were removed. Of course, the ball was not changed. The existing cam was a one piece unit with NO adjusting ring, and that was left in place as the parts kit had the older 2 piece cam.
Do you think a slight tighten of top plate would help, or should I order a new cam and ball?
      Thanks again for your assistance.

      roxio69
I would go with a new cam and ball! But first look at the notch in the side of the existing ball, is it distorted in any way? That notch rides on a small pin inside the faucet body and if that pin is worn down the ball is not able to find it's sweet spot to turn off the water. That's why you have to play with the handle. If the pin has substantial beef to it, replace the ball and you should be good to go. If the pin is worn badly, it may be time for a new faucet!

Thank you for the detailed explanation. We never had the dripping problem before the repair. I saw it was getting close but we did have leak from base and new o rings stopped that. What makes it tough for me, is that I couldnt shut off hot water from valve under sink ( yes that needs to be repaired by a plumber), so I need to take plate off from garage floor and shut off the main. Ill order the parts and replace everything. The faucet is not that old.
      Thanks again.

    • @BobsPlumbingVideos

There is a bad spray diverter. You have to remove the spout to get to it. When you remove the spout, it’s located in front of the faucet body. You’ll have to fish it out with a needle nose pliers. Go grab the replacement 1st.
