I’m so proud of you my drag mom ! Thanks to her I have the opportunity to been on tv for two years ! Breaking walls of stigma and discrimination. But also taking my art to another level . Congrats Mama Rupaul
From being a little black girl in the Brewster projects of Detroit Michigan, to getting spotted by an ebony fashion fair talent scout at 15, to building a media empire. What a life!
RuPaul is one of the most incredible strongest people who has survived a lot and now he gives so much back the joy the laughter the kindness God bless you RU never leave us ! the world would be sad place without you!!!
I’m a gay man. I have never watched Drag Race. It’s just not my kind of TV. The most I’ve ever been exposed to RuPaul’s work is his appearance in The Brady Bunch Movie. However, I am very familiar with how much he has done for the community and what he has accomplished in his career is amazing!
Drag race is so good I watch it for the comedy and the fashionnnn. The fashion is really leveled up now , it’s like watching a fashion show but it’s ACTUALLY a good! (Usually lol) not like some other fashion shows where they literally glue a chair to someone’s torso 🙃
I grew up in a small town in Wisconsin and when I was in my early teens, I would drown out the taunts and hateful immaturity of the others on the school bus with "Supermodel" on my Walkman. I was very fortunate that the most awkward period of my life - a period not all kids like me would make it through - occurred simultaneously with RuPaul's ascent to superstardom. It allowed me to envision a future where I would only be celebrated for what made me so different and when I arrived at my class reunion years later, it was in the image I would have loved for them all to have known me as the whole time. They loved it, too. Even more important is the obligation I feel to do what I can to help the next awkward kid get through those years unscathed. It was always my dream to go find "my people" in New York City, but my life has put me on a very different path that ultimately led me to return to the same area in which I grew up. I've spent so many nights wondering what I could have done and where life may have taken me had I taken more risks or made different decisions along the way. Sometimes I find answers or clarity simply trying to make excuses to convince myself that there's a good reason I'm where I am. It brought me to the realization that I could use this larger-than-life persona I've so carefully created as a beacon for any kids that, like I once had, feel they're three thousand miles away from anyone they could relate to. After many appearances in the local media, articles I've written, and events I created and coordinated, I was named one of the area's most influential people "changing the way we look at life" in our city. For all the barriers _Drag Race_ has broken down, the one I'm most grateful for is the opportunity to see RuPaul receive the accolades he's deserved for so long. It took a long time for the rest of the world to catch up, but that man's true impact is so profound we'll likely never comprehend how many lives this one person has touched simply by putting on a pair of high heels and reminding us all how important it is to love ourselves and each other. I hope I see the day when such a simple phrase doesn't carry any stigma with it simply because it came from the mouth of a black man in a blonde wig.
I remember in the 90’s when RuPaul Released his first album “Supermodel of the World” buying it at all places an army base because the cover looked cool. Then the music was good. And everyone in the 90s didn’t even know what a drag Queen was. I’ve loved him from the early days of his career. Always fun, always uplifting, always funny, and talented
Love me some RuPaul! Not since Madam CJ Walker has anyone rose up from nothing and by putting in lots of hard work and grit - paying all of her dues - to become rich, famous, and powerful. Kudos to you RuPaul.
Love the story of Katya saying "oh yeah i was passing a restaurant window in downtown LA the other day we locked eyes thru the window and he looked at me and flicked me off" great sense of humor/ charm 😂😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤
I love RuPaul! For me he’s more than a drag queen. He has ethics, spread love and respect around the world! My kids and my husband watch Drag Race with me. I went through a dar time in my life and his show was there to pick me up and bring some overcoming exemples in my life.❤❤❤❤
Ru Paul is an Icon! He has faults, he is human after all, not a saint. But the good he s done for the queer + community is irrefutable, opening doors and 'normalising' the ' abnormal' in the end uniting two poles into one. Ultimately, we are all humans with equal rights , united by Love 😀
A message to all TQIA+ people: Rupaul has never forced himself on anyone nor has he ever disrespected any religion (gays can be religious too) Rupaul was even in The Brady Bunch movie!!! Take notes TRA’s

Hunh? "Little black girl"? Detroit Michigan? Rupaul was born and raised in San Diego.
RuPaul is an American Treasure!
For sure. I already bought the book. I never thought when I heard that first song that he would ever dream this big. He had big goals. It shows.
He's a world treasure.

7:10 when he got teary eyed talking about his husband. So sweet ❤❤❤
30 years together is impressive. Most heteros can’t match that these days
I think that is fair! RuPaul is everything. I loved her since I was a kid, and am now I am in my 40s, a grown ass cis Black woman. lol
66. White. I adore this man with all my heart. He tells scared, confused kids that it's all gonna get better, they just have to hold on.

I maybe the most feminine gay in the world but I've never watched drag race as well, just not my cup of tea, I prefer to watch men.
That’s what I thought till I watched it and realized I had been missing out on the best show of all time.
I'm so glad we have him!
Their is nothing like a parent love when your are gay
Love him so much !!
