Thanks John. I've been hoarding information and analyzing this kind of music for a little while. I got to a point where I memorized so many jazz chord voicing shapes that I realized I hadn't internalized enough voice leading or inner movement of basic diatonic harmony. You refreshed my memory of the "Rose" having open fifths and this definitely helps to conceptualize the technique by relating it to an existing song. It's not a hard technique, just hard for me to remember it exists.... Sooo many tools in the toolbox.
I love your channel. Thankful for everything you've been teaching us. One of my favorites. This type of music feels like saccharine to me. Of course, that's just my personal opinion. But I love the depth of everything else you teach. Anyway, thankful for your wisdom.
