What was your favourite and least favourite league of all time? And when did you start playing? Don't forget to check out Omisid's Channel: www.youtube.com/@Omisid
My first first league was back in 2015 with Torment, bloodlines, but then I quit once it was too overwhelming and came back in Delirium, that's when I started playing pretty much every league after that.
First Leauge was rampage i got into mud flats and couldnt figure out how to get past the glyph wall and quit XD. Really started playing in prophecy. Best league I played for the mechanic would have to be betrayal, crafted my first 3000+ evasion chest. Worst league i played would be a tie between kalandra and necropolis, didn't like the mechanics, only played 3 days in 3.24, got sick of the monster modifier window when opening a map.
Favorite league of all time was Ritual not because of the league but the state of the economy, crafting being interesting even if it was through TFT and Delve being interesting on the deep depths front. Least favorite league, Im gonna say expedition and the way flasks felt in the first few days I quit day 2. Started in Rampage league.
I started in Ritual, and my favorite was TotA, but in TotA I played spark carry with an aurabot, had a specialized setup for TotA and a specialized brand sanctum runner
The big issue with Necropolis loot explosions was not that it happened, but that it was only available to an elite player base for a limited amount of time and that this player base set themselves apart by entire magnitudes of wealth for the rest of the league's duration. In Affliction such loot explosions were less common, possible throughout the entire league and available to all players that would invest a decent amount of time into the game. Affliction felt like a loot fiesta but it was a party for everyone (also without MFing). Even after the loot explosion nerfs, T17s continued to dominate the economy but also turned out to be a nightmare to run unless you chose one of very few selected builds that could handle at least some realistic combinations of T17 modifiers. This approach excluded all those players from endgame that are already forced to select from a restricted pool of meta builds but refuse to narrow them down ever further by applying maniac tryhard standards. The Necropolis league mechanic could have actually compensated many players for the T17 debacle, but caused massive fomo moments in combination with many undesirable gameplay moments in itself and therefore also totally fell flat for the vast majority of players. Had GG launched the league as was (e.g. with scarab changes), but without T17 maps and the league mechanic, it would have been a far superior league. Therefore, overall an absolutely deserved F tier.
I played on/off on 2016 and 2017 but really started playing during delve. I recall just reaching act 4 and thinking I needed a six link. So I proceeded to six linked a very low level chest piece like with 20 fusings or something like that and thought to myself: “this is not as bad as I thought is gonna be”. Now I realized just how absurdly lucky I got.
Loved this ! I've been playing since 2012 and I only skipped like 4 leagues entirely, so I can relate with almost everything. We would have some disagreements, and some details stuck with me more than others (like Perandus was horrible to me, every unique was 1c like 1 week in, defeating every purpose of playing for me). I'm sure the coming league could be the top league of all time for me, which is mindblowing because my current favorite leagues (based on the good times I had) have stood their ground for a while, Essence, Harbinger and Incursion. But yeah I feel they will get beaten in 3.25 ! I agree with the time where 'modern PoE' started. You guys said Delve, but I think it started with Incursion, closely before, felt like a hattrick of bangers of leagues.
Surprisingly The Gull is actually insanely good now with how many Shrines you can get and the bonuses from the atlas tree. No joke I think it's the most underrated unique in PoE and can feel as good as HH sometimes (especially when you only paid a few C for it!)
Archnemesis is IMO easy S tier just for getting rid of leap frog atlas. That was horrible. Current atlas is so simple and so good, let alone the one atlas passive, eldritch bosses and bases, altars which rained scarabs. The mechanic isn't good but not terrible either, just similar to metamorph, pretty basic but rewarding enough. Personally it also got a big boost for me as I dropped a mageblood this league in ssf, and even ashes which was pre-nerfed and really powerful. Last league to use the old rare modifiers before they go crazy with archnemesis implementation in the core game.
My first league and the last one the only F tiers. Anyway, Ritual, Affliction and Sentinel are my favorite leagues. Regarding Lolcohol & Omisid's list really I only disagree slightly with Scourge, Crucible and Harvest being C tier - I think they deserve at least B and the reason is that part of my "judging" a league is how much I learned and improved as a player. Crucible I learned a ton about builds I had never played by seeing the pricing of the base weapons/shields. Harvest I basically mastered my understanding of explicits/implicits etc. Scourge I just liked the press the button aspect like Sentinel which made running maps way more fun.
I have very fond memories of Incursion league. It was the first league where I made actual currency and ended up buying a Headhunter. I was playing a giga slow build and didn't understand how to utilize it so I came to the conclusion that HH was giga overrated and everyone else was just stupid.
Legacy in B is one of the worst takes I've ever heard. One of the best leagues ever made IMO. Infinite juice with multiple beyond procs, insane chase items because of reliquary keys (legacy kaoms, legacy vinktars, ITEM QUANTITY SUPPORT etc) also the last league we got to enjoy CI Vaal Pact instant leech.
Harbinger in S lmfao I know it's an opinion but this list is just incorrect. Harbinger got shit on for being a boring mechanic that dropped gumballs 99% of the time. It also had one of the first huge revamps for defences in PoE forcing basically everyone into a life build because ES got destroyed so hard
@@Lolcohol I don't disagree, changing the story structure was a major change but like all other story changes, when you got to maps it was barely felt. The massive nerfs GGG made to energy shield combined with a lackluster league mechanic made harbinger have some of the worst whiplash I've ever experienced in PoE. I'm convinced most people that started playing in 2017 onwards would not have survived Legacy -> Harbinger and quit after the first few days
The thing with kalandra is it's undoubtedly a bad patch, and the league mechanic is also not good. But it's still got a lot of things introduced since Siege of the Atlas with the passive tree. I could not go back to a version of PoE without the atlas passive tree. Just because of that, it's imo still better than most old PoE leagues.
Last comment: The fact that Sentinel happened in the middle of the archnemesis mods debacle, and still managed to be a great league, is testament of how f-ing good it was, I'm sad of not seeing it in S tier. On the other hand Kalandra was a bad mechanic, with bad loot, in a bad patch, with bad overall community energy. Kalandra is Z tier 100%.
You're right about Sentinel- the fact that it was so fondly remembered in the midst of such a dire time for the fundamental parts of the game really is a testament to how insanely good it was. Luckily we're getting it back!
Expedition what the patch when all the fun from the game was taken away tbh. More nerfs? to make it more hardcore? no we need more diversity of builds yes so we need more buffs and nerfs over boosted builds so each patch we get meta shakeup. We need regular buff and nerf of the skills so the meta is build around league mechanic so one whole league you play slammers, next - CoC, next heralds, next melee, next SPELLSLINGER THAT WAS SO FUN, , Enchanters and so on and so on so game will have diversity and fun from trying new things and playstyles. When was the diversity made over that ? How many patches ago ?
why do ppl hate grave crafting so much? it's by far the least tedious crafting method, and no, you don't need a recipe, just slap +1000 tier rating and fill up the rest with corpses you think are good for what you want
Because the UI was horrendous, it would have been way more fun and easier if they just gave us an excel spreadsheet to craft items. Also corpses were stupid in several way: it blocked items you wanted to pick up so you had to click a corpse you didn’t like, you had like 64 slots to collect corpses but the grave was what? Double that? Which brings up another point that you felt you just had to collect every corpse anyways just in case so it was the worst pay to win league (everyone I knew bought multiple quad tabs, zizaran went nuts and has like 20-30 lol). Besides that the league was just horrible anyways for so many reasons, watch ziz’s latest video on his league review.
@@taesaes701 I agree with you that the ui and corpse implementation was terrible, it could have been implemented way better and provide a better experience, that doesn't mean the crafting itself was bad or more annoying than other crafting methods, as i said, you just slap +1000 tier rating and you are set without any real hassel

Hell yeah, we got it
This made me realise that the gull was meant to be equivalent to headhunter. Saying that current day is crazy.
Surprisingly The Gull is actually insanely good now with how many Shrines you can get and the bonuses from the atlas tree. No joke I think it's the most underrated unique in PoE and can feel as good as HH sometimes (especially when you only paid a few C for it!)
I played a surprising amount of Necropolis for how little I cared about the item editor. Just had a blast making money and running maps.
