The Stylist - c.1955

This is a very stylised (pun intended) look at what a car designer does when trying to imagine "the shape of things to come". The fictional stylist in this film looks at materials, futuristic fuels and is inspired by rocket technology. It demonstrates how concept cars turn into production models, such as the Mercury Turnpike Cruiser. Finally, "the average American family" tries out the X2000, their "dream car".

The Lincoln Futura at 10:38 was later customised by George Barris as the Batmobile.
