6:41 If you notice at the back of the violin section there is a guy who jokingly pretends to smash his violin with his knee... LoL I'm wheezing it's really good XDD
Not only the performance is amazing, but the interpretation is really tasty, it's not just some standard cold carbon copy rendition, he's not just playing the notes. Amazing
Jesus, the indifferent look on his face while playing one of the most difficulty pieces on the violin just kills me. It's like he's trying to remember if he put his socks in the dryer or if he forgot.... While rattling of ysaye
I know some might be annoyed by the people coming in from TwoSet.... but honestly, I'd have never come across this without them. Regardless of where you got here from, just enjoying this is what matters. A Vtuber could recommend this and I'd still be happy to have made it here. This is the kind of artistry that needs to be shown more love.

Guido's performance is so enthralling that it seems this Ballade was composed expressly for him. Bravo! Good luck at the Menuhin Competition 2020! Lilian Duval
2 thumbs down?? How can someone give thumbs down to such a talent? I guess one is from Ysaye himself because he wrote this Sonata at 65 years old and he's jealous to see a 13 yo violinist playing it... and 2nd one? I don't know... Stradivari or Guarneri because they died way long before this young genius was born and they will never be able to build a violin for him... and yes, 2set brought me here...thank you guys!
Guido, de apenas 17 anos, acaba de vencer a décima edição do Prêmio Internacional Fritz Kreisler em Viena, Áustria. Nasceu na periferia de São Paulo e toca desde os 5 anos. Parabéns!
Great talent by a handsome young man. I just hope Guido doesn’t fall for gimmicks that other young players have tried, like purple hair or dancing all over stage. Keep the music and your performance style true and straight. Aside from his extraordinary talent Heifetz never resorted to gimmicks. I have nothing but admiration for you, Guido. David, San Diego
Frankly, I like this young man's interpretation of this sonata more than Vengerov's; I like how Sant'Anna takes his time! It kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time!
@@bb2fiddler I never implied that Vengerov wasn't legendary; in fact, he happens to be one of my favorite violinists! But no musician can interpret every single piece out there in a way that will please everybody all the time...even Vengerov, as crazy as that may sound.
@@rowanstevenson5071 i you liked this performance you may also like Hadelich's one. he also, like Sant'Anna, plays it with a lot more pauses and "air" between sections. still my favourite is without doubt Vengerov's one but I like listening to all of them.
So well done dear boy. you have matured into another wold class violinist from the junior finalists from 2018 Menuhin. What asuberb group you Christian, Chloe and thee other three. Fantastic musical style and understanding of this unique sound-world, and how it is born from inside the violin, not imposed from outside. Just one tiny but glorious example: the chord at 0:45 . . . this is very special playing
This is a really excellent performance that at the very least holds its own with absolutely anyone's (including Vengerov's). I wish Guido good luck in a couple of weeks time at the Menuhin Competition this second time round! The relevant dates are 26-27 April (first round), 15 May (semi final) and 21 May (final). His performances will no doubt be streamed and/or posted immediately on the Mehuhin Competition's channel. Between the semi final and the final, Chloe and Christian are to give recitals--"the 2018 winners concert"--on 18 May; and these recitals are most definitely to be streamed on that channel then. Very interestingly, one of the works on Chloe's recital program is this very piece by Ysaye!
@@namironofreortega1374 Unhappily, Menuhin 2021 was a disaster for Guido. Happily, however, he has since won the 2022 Kreisler competition, and so is back on track. There are interesting comparisons with contemporaries other than Chloe. At Menuhin 2021, Hannah Tam performed this work in the final (on the Menuhin's channel), and Keila Wakao, who won the competition, has just posted her own performance of it (on her channel).
Fine performance! Interesting to contrast this interpretation with that of Augustine Hadelich. I think I hear a fluid warmth in Hadelich, more edgy and brittle from this young man. I like both however! Every performer brings something unique to this difficult and probing composition.
@@omrane8596 I have perfect pitch, I can say this guy is play in D half sharp minor. It is so out of tune. Arpeggios are good, but the 6th's and chords are out of tune. I think he doesn't play the scales with double stops, that's why he is play out of tune. Intonation is everything, antitonation "music" is sounds like tone-deaf sacrilegious violin-viola playing. Ysaye Sonatas are very big thing for 13 years old prodigies, this guy needs to play paganini, not ysaye.
@Joshua Thompson hearing and playing is very very very very very very very very very very very very very different things. I just say there is out of tune, I don't say I can play it better.
So you let the problem of intonation ruin this fantastic performance by a young violinist that I and probably a lot of other people will never be as good as? Wow. That's sad.
