    This worked well for me. My FOE was a bit stiff so I allowed a little bit more than you suggested and it was spot on!

      Thanks Poppy. FOE can be a bit stiff and can lack recovery. Each brand is slightly different, even different colours within the same brand can be different in their stretch percentage, but this is a good starting point. I have a pattern cutting and sewing blog at modelistecreative.com if you want to see lots more info!

      @@ModelisteCreative i also have stiff FOE and i did 10% of it as i normally do. if i wear it ik think it is still to tide do i have to take less of the FOE?

      larissa De Borgher be careful if its too stiff it sometimes doesn’t recover well after stretching so I would do a test on 10 cm and stretch it and then see if it recovers to 10 cm. If it doesn’t then avoid using it!

    ☕️ Nicola ! . . . I love this PLATFORM technique, it’s genius, it’s so simple 👗 . . . . AND the gorgeous ELNA, you lucky girl, she’s beautiful. What’s the story of your green ELNA ? How did it become yours ?

      Thank you so much! - I found the Elna in a charity shop in France and bought it straight away! It comes in a really tough dark green metal case with all the accessories! It just looks so beautiful. Many thanks for your kind words!

    If it’s not stretch fabric is it still the same when finding out how much is needed?

    • @ModelisteCreative
      @ModelisteCreative  2 года назад

      Yes, it's the same as the fabric is a set measurement when relaxed. Kindest regards, Nicola

    Also I couldn’t understand what you multiplied it by. .7?

      It really depends on the elastic stretch percentage but I find about 7 or 8 is a good starting point. Many thanks for your question, Nicola

    Are you using stretch thread on the top and bottom?

      Nakisha Hernandez Hi. No just normal good quality polyester thread works fine.

    Sorry you lost me twice there so didnt watch to the end. When you joined the elastic you went off camera to cut it down twice and turn it over (couldn't see what you were doing as your hands where out if range) then when sewing flat, you had a pin somewhere on the fabric down the line but I didnt see you explain where to put this in (this was nit the pin at the first 2cm start or end). For a novice watching, you lost me totally so stopped after that.

      Hi, So sorry I confused you, I do have another video that details applying fold over elastic, which is the same principal that may help you understand. Unfortunately it is difficult and would make the video very long if I explained each step in great detail and sometimes have to rely on the watcher 'filling in the gaps' - many thanks for your comments.
