Just ordered one GX Bob….love your channel. Just bought a sweet garage kept 2018 luxury packaged with only 65k miles. F…..g sweet ride. White with the darker brown leather. Thanks I’ve watch almost all your shit 😎
Good Morning BOB, I have been using a Fumoto valve for years, on some of my other cars(Mostly Subarus), but have yet to buy/use one on my GX. Have a great weekend!!!
Great video, had a Fumoto on a former vehicle. Still on the fence if they're worth it. I was always paranoid about it getting hit with road debris and hated how slow the oil came out.
I'll also add that on my Honda s2000, been using the fumoto valve for about 8 years now. Not 1 issue or leak. Put it on my gx460 and it also works fine (just a few thousand miles). Have another fumoto for my 2nd Gx460 that will go on next oil change.
You got the wrong type of Fumoto valve for your vehicle. Since your drain plug is on the belly of the oil tank, you should have chosen the original type, whose drain opening is facing down. What you got is for vehicles whose drain plug is on the side or slope of the oil tank.
Good point Shih! Too bad eBay doesn't have that great of a return policy. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching. Maybe i'll do another one when i pick up my GX470.
I've been using them since the late eighties. They even have ones for motorcycles and I've used them on both of my motorcycles. And I just installed one of the next generation valves my 2019 Chevy Silverado and I also bought one for my 2007 Suzuki GSXR 1000 street bike. Never had one fail ever. I did make a RUclips video of it you can check it out on my channel.
I would put your year GX into the link below and buy the SX series. www.carid.com/2015-lexus-gx-engine-components/fumoto-sx-series-oil-drain-valve-3360946958.html
I want one but I do not think with the design and threads all the way in the pan the oil will not fully drain.. take the valve off after draining is the only way to find out I guess
Bob, we're talking about a very minimal amount of oil left over. You also have to account for the thickness of the pan and not just look at the threads protruding out of the valve. Removing the valve defeats the purpose but i can see why you want to remove the valve one time to see the amount of oil coming out afterwards. I'm not too worried about it since i use Full Synthetic and i change it out every 5k miles.
@@boblarson9171 This got me thinking about it. Performed an oil change using the FV today. First drained with FV then removed it just to see how much more oil drained out. It was about 15ml of oil which is a very small amount. Feel better now that I checked. I use model F133S with LC-10 S-Series Large Body FUMOTO Valve with Short Nipple on a 2016 GX.
No. The back up wrench is holding the valve body which has the capability of spinning. That's the good thing about the new and improved valve- you can turn it any way you want without loosening the bolt.
@@GXBOB but the valve body is a smooth cylinder, it has no edge for the wrench to hold onto. I kept rewinding the video and I still say the hex and wrench are on the same bolt that goes thru the valve body.
@@jaylmw08 i think you have to go thru the motion with a real part to understand jasen. This is my 2nd one on a GX. The bolt does not have enough clearance for 2 different tools to accommodate.
Installing the same one on my GX460 today. Do you have a recommended torque wrench brand/model that won’t break the bank? Thank you for the good work :)
there were no direction to install a crush washer nor have it ever given me issues ever since the installation. I've done so many oil changes without a single leak.
@@Motokarts i did the sx because i wanted to be able to point it in the direction i preferred. Its like taking a piss and having to hold your weenie. With the sx, you pee shoots straight each time.
Bob, I love your channel, but I guess I just don't understand all of the hype over this valve. I mean, how f*cking hard is it to take out a drain bolt? Now, instead of the tried and true Toyota design with a fresh crush washer each time, you have multiple O-rings as potential points of failure and the the oil takes longer to drain through the valve. Sure, you save $1.00 each time on a crush washer; but at $30, it will take you 30 oil changes and 150,000 miles just to break even on this doohickey. Idk, this just seems like an answer to a question nobody asked.
It’s not about the washer. It’s about draining your oil while it’s hot in order for it to drain out effectively. If you ever had to remove a drain bolt while it’s hot and have the bolt fall into the oil pan and also get third degree burns you’ll start appreciating the valve benefits.
@@GXBOB Got it! Well looks like it's a reliable product, so that's good to see. My solution... a thick pair of rubber gloves when removing the hot ass drain bolt.

i have the same interior/exterior. I"m kinda liking the red upholstery on the newer trucks.
i have been using these on all my cars for over 15 years. Never an issue and they are awesome
Dude, after so many oil changes, these valves have yet to fail. They are great!

I have my fumoto for a long time already. If you’re worried about it getting hit, put the cover back on. There’s enough clearance.

I just barely discovered these recently...lol
Thank you for sharing, Do they make for transmission pan;that way you can drain and and refill through same valve
@@somnuk1 not that I'm aware of. Just engine oil drain
Just for info, the F133S with LC-10 S-Series Large Body does not bend, it shoots straight down.
Always appreciate any fyi's and corrections. Thanks Alex.
@@GXBOB just ordered 2 ;)
That model also has a 60% larger drain.
Is the F133S the correct one for a GX460?
Great review - I may end up getting one of these now...
I wish i knew about these 10 years ago when i started changing my own oil. Life would have been so much easier.
Thanks for the detailed video, just put mine on!
I’m like on my 3rd oil change with it. What a time saver it is.

Bob U can the plastic oil filter with a meatl one too. good job👍
Yes! I'll eventually do that as the car ages. But when i looked at the oil filter housing, it was practically brand new.
Bob i have an issue with my gx alternator do have any advices ?!?!?

14mm socket is just to easy. And drains much faster from what I’ve seen.
Not if your 14mm is 250 deg f and burns 3 layers of skin off your fingers. I’ve dropped that bolt in the oil pan plenty of times. It’s a mess.
