Good job! Washing your precious linens and using them bringing you JOY every time you use them. I had embroidered tea towels that my mother made and I could not get myself to use them . One day I was straightening out I got them and they were waisting away getting yellow age spots the thread was ripping as I saved them😢I DID NOT US THEM how sad I was I got them all out washed them separate them giving my sons wife’s and my sister some with instructions to use them. I now Only have 1 left still giving me joy as I dry my glass drinking cups. Memories come but these were most important to me now as I have to throw away a well used and loved towel there is a good feeling my mom made them to be used and I’m sure she would be happy knowing they were appreciated. I realize I don’t remember where you got your linen from but even your boys can enjoy them now and when they move out give them a well used and loved towel to keep you in there heart and mind. I Love your show/blog just be your wonderful self and we will be there as we share your life.
Nice motivational video Sophia!! My mother in law was a seamstress for at least 50 years, last year I asked her for a few buttons for my husbands shirts. Well she sent me a bag full of buttons all shape and colours. Since I am stuck at home I organised them by colour and type. Last Christmas, with some of those, I made her four small camvases, one with her initial, and three with christmas images, a green wrheath, a red ball and a gold christmas tree. She loved them !! Thank you for the company !!!
the cast iron chickens (cockerels?) would make a novelty garden decor! I think they're so great! This was fun to watch, while I was in my craft room, doing much of the same. 🙄
Yaaaay for displaying the gorgeous hat and for deciding to use the linen towels! They will bring you absolute little bursts of joy every single time you use them or catch of glimpse of them in the display cabinet/your drawer.
Sophia, I can’t wait to see how you make your double sewing table when you build it. Well done on the decluttering. So proud of you for choosing to declutter the marketplace items. I am glad you are choosing to use your Irish linens too.
There is about 8 or 9 little libraries very close by my house. A lot of Saturdays I just take an hour of Me time to grab a coffee and do the Little Library route. I love it. Thanks for the declutter motivation.
An idea for your fabric which you did last week. Comic book boards that are acid free and sold on Amazon cheaply will work great. Just fold and wind your fabric around a comic book board like a mini bolt of fabric. Takes less space to store the fabric. Line them up on a shelf like books.
Family heirlooms should not feel like dead weight! You are not obligated to something just because it’s an “heirloom”. Just because something belonged to grandma/great grandma/great grandpa doesn’t make it special! We all own all sorts of unspecial things that have to go somewhere when we die. You’d never expect the boys to keep something just because you owned it. Heirlooms are only as special as the feelings they bring. And if the feeling is only obligation, then it can’t be that important 😅
Cass from clutter bug calls it sentimental clutter. Not precious to us but feeling we should keep it because it belonged to someone. If we don't really want it but feel we should keep it then it's sentimental clutter and can leave without any regret or guilt
Good job! Sometimes all we need to do is reorganize our things for better function. Please believe me when I tell you that you will be so happy to have that toilet in your basement as you get older. Loving all your videos.
Oh my goodness I LOVE watching your declutter videos! You make me laugh (with you). We are polar opposites and I love it! I’m not exactly a minimalist but I definitely am close. We’d definitely have fun decluttering together. We could actually have a channel doing that! 😂 Maybe between the two of us, we’d balance each other out!!
You go girl .. just what is the best for you and your family.. you had made an enormous progress.. i am watching you from 2016 and love what you had done until now with your house and with yourself ❤ much love
Great job, Sophia!! I'm glad you decided to sell some of your items on etsy. I do have a question about the machines: What happens when you want to sew a sleeve on to a garment? I think your Mom is going to have so much fun sewing with you!! I would hang the rooster up on Scott's side of the office. Have a great day!!😊❤🪻🌷
@mygreatchallenge oh okay. Well, I'm looking forward to seeing the video. You are an amazing lady! I have seen you grow so much over the years from a struggle to declutter to a different mindset, and you are truly an inspiration. Thanks. P.s. I may not sew, but I enjoy watching your videos because maybe one of these days I just might. ❤️😊
Love these declutter videos from you Sophia. The clock - heck with what others think. Yes it looks out of place in your light colored quilt area - but it brings you joy and that is all that matters. Keep em comin.
Thank you for such a motivating video Sophia. I so enjoy you showing the non-speeded-up process and hearing you voice your thinking process. I feel sad hearing some of your comments as it seems that you face a lot of criticism about your choices, decisions etc. If I've understood this correctly, then I am very sorry that you have had to deal with this.
Nice work! I'm pretty minimal, but last week you inspired me to dig deeper. A large bag to Goodwill. As I began watching, I thought I do have two pillow inserts I haven't used in two years...then you also found some to let go! 🎉
Good morning Sophia. It was a lovely warm sunny day today here on the Costa Blanca. I'm so happy to see the hat in the curio. And that you are using the linens. I'm the same age as you and I recently had an epiphany that all.my.lovely things are in cupboards. I realised guests use them.nit I don't. So yesterday I washed all my port meirion and we are going to use it at the weekends when I do a roast dinner
I LOVE buttons. My grandmother had a button tin. My weekend as a child was sitting on the hearth rug looking at each one. Looking back there were some real historical gems in there. Heres a wierd thing i nkoticed that charity shops jere are full.of crystal. And when yiu were saying yiu couldnt sell crystal i thought wow same there too. Remember when everyone loved beautiful crystal.pieces?
My grandma used to let me play with her tin of buttons too. I would group them by color or size (the start of my neurotic organizing?) or string them together to make necklaces for my grandmother. Amazingly enough, the next time the necklaces were gone but there were more buttons!😅😂🤣
@@juststoppingby390 If an item of clothing is ruined beyond repair,I still do both of those things! Those rags become my disposable “paper towels” for wiping out greasy pans and cat puke. I’m only 65 but swear that I’m the youngest person to have lived through the Great Depression!😵💫😬😳😂🤣😅
Hi again from Oregon 🌲 I forgot I wanted to mention I enjoy your gardening series. I have two flats of seedlings going. Four kinds of Foxglove and another with six different seeds. But I thought you might like to read. ‘All the Light We Cannot See’ , and ‘The Book of Lost Names’ Karan
Sophia, just to reassure on the metal bobbins are a breeze to use and actually wind. Easier than the spools I promise 💗😃. And you are a much better seamstress 🧵 than I am 🥰🥰🥰
Can i suggest Geneva for a book it deals with Alzheimer's so some may not want to read it but its more of a psychological thriller. Written by British actor Richard Armitage. Its also on audible and hes narrating the main character
Sophia, Through the years I've heard you mention your brother. Why is he never in your vlogs like your Mother? Just curious. I love these vlogs so soothing Thank you
I understand that you would not buy a damaged item ,but if you are selling as pair noting that there is damage someone may be willing to repair to have two side-by-side
It s a basement toilet that is meant to be the first opening in case of a sewage backup. That way the backup does not happen in the upper and nice bathrooms.
@@mygreatchallenge Learn something everyday, 🧐 I had an old house with a scary basement, very glad there was no toilet though! Luckily no sewer backup ever either! Liked the decluttering in the video, I need to get back to mine. 💐
Great decluttering! This declutter system gives you positive results with less chance of overwhelm ✅ counting with you is fun. The hat and towels 🤩💕🪻glad you will keep the clock
You don't notice your favorite treasures if you have too many other things ,
You've done really good at clearing out !!
Buttons go in a Christmas cookie tin. 🤣🤣. I think all of us who grew up in US can relate
I have one filled with buttons lol.
The same in Poland. Greetings 😊

You could drape your “new” tea towels over the rolling pin like an old fashioned towel bar.
You did a fantastic job!! And I cracked up at your counting comments! Hilarious!

The thread snips could go on a command hook on the side of you machine to be thread convenient and not in the drawer.

Why not use the containers you brought from the kitchen, in your sewingroom, to hold things or to hold cleaners in the laundry room.
Also, the tier tray for things,if you have room.

Are they going to close any of the Joanna up close to you.
Probably if they re claiming bankruptcy
If nobody uses the family room anymore why don't you use it for a larger sewing area?
Because we have other ideas for that space. Not for now but later.
Hi Sophia, why not hang your roosters in an outdoor area like your garden?
They probably would rust.
