Thanks for the info on that screen, I might hafta grab one, so stoked to replace my Open builds interface pendant screen 🥳🥳.
I'll edit to confirm, if it's so then it's a big deal cause they don't offer spare parts gotta buy the whole thing for 200$
Edit: Open builds pendant is 18 pic, same size and everything just 18 pin 😢
Hey sir, I know u busy but I need some advice. I bought a super console x pro that has emulator kinhank/emulec and the lag with the wireless controllers are bad. Any suggestions on another wireless controller I could buy? Love your videos sir. Ty
@@aaronlstillwell Ive been checking around for this type of thing and the thing your looking for is USB twins, I believe, buy a set that has a predetermined coupled USB dongle
@@redherring5532 thanks for helping. I'm not sure what USB twins are cause I'm not technically sound but I'm open to any suggestions
@@redherring5532 I went ahead and ordered a set of wireless controllers that look Like the old school snes controllers and they were 2.4ghz and a video I watched said they had a emulator console and it had no lag so we'll see
The 24 pin screen alone cost more than the actual handheld 😂
Crazy how a knock off $10 handheld works better than so many handhelds you’re sent to review 😂
i got 2 of these of aliexpress for 10usd each came with a 2 player controller too that plugs into the charging port also to note both of mine one came with a swollen battery and my other one after using for maybe 3/4 week or so battery became swollen :(
had this with a few other nes on a chip systems too like the pvp stations handhelds
That is probably because NOAC systems have some degree of a common standard spec compared to the wild west of mobile-chip-based emulator systems.
i bought one and removed the cheap battery and replaced it with an original 1000mah battery and now it last about 4 hours of gameplay and it will last longer without the volume on just needed to charge it about 1 hour to 30 mins@@MrJ0mmy
Lots of retail places near me sell these (or similar) devices, especially this time of year... I tell ya, they're absolute fantastic to give to young children on a long trip! Keeps them amused and you don't care if they drop them and break them. They get a 5* rating from me!
Yup, where I live Walgreens is a major source of these around the holidays and I totally agree, the value is real!
I've heard of ppl buying up all the PS5's they can but my man MLP buying up all these Handhelds is on another level LMAO!.!!
Interesting to see a tear down...This is a decent little system. Could be fun to mod. If you mess up...no big deal...it was just 10 bucks. Good gift to a young kid as well.
ooh! a 24 pin lcd. Very handy. Thats well worth the price alone right there! Very useful as its one of the more common style ribbon connectors. I recently used a 24 pin i pulled from a broken borescope camera i bought for $4 on ebay to replace the broken one i had as a secondary on one of my raspberry pi emulation projects. that Nokia style lithium battery is useful also
assuming everything fit proper you could combine this with a raspi for a damn decent emulation device at what like $40 depending on your goals? the shells gotta be worth at least a five spot. and i suppose you could still reuse their board for....something?
might be semi worthwhile trying to pick a couple used ones up off ebay down the road for a few bucks just to keep on hand for projects
@@xAlexZifko If you are crafty, yes, you can make your own case with internal dimensions appropriate for whatever internals being used, but i really have to say, these days, companies like Anbernic with their RG-552, among many others, and Powkiddy's RGB10Max2 etc: are making some VERY powerful handheld emulators, with IPS displays, and all sorts of amazing options in the range of $70-200 that are far more powerful than even the newest Pi boards. I like to tinker and mod regardless, so, even though i use some of the more well put together emulation handhelds from Anbernic and several other companies, i still buy broken ones and bobble them together here and there just for shits and gigs. I also like modifying nintendo switches, and other consoles. I recently put a fully clear backplate and shells on my joycons and bought some SNES colored buttons for my personal switch, and for my girlfriends lite, i put sky blue buttons and a clear front and rear shell on hers as well. All of my consoles are modified somehow. Some have LEDs, others have modded cases or softmodded. Its just a fun inside hobby when its too cold to be working on my cars. I have a drift car, and several street projects i am always changing something on or fabricating parts for. Hobbies keep our mental health in good condition. Plus, who doesnt like doing things they consider "Fun" or enjoyable.
@@xxdjsolomanxx good on you... the idle mind is the playground for the devil
I'm super happy you pointed it out. I love videos like these of cheap handhelds and cracking them open to see what's inside.
Companies like Five Below, Tuesday Morning, Hobby Lobby (to an extent) don't curate a lot of their products. They just get a truck of mainly random stuff, especially when it comes to toys. They might not know what they have.
Hobby Lobby even ended up with a whole museum of stolen artifacts one time!
@@thx3188 HAH! Yeah that was definitely an accident... 🤣
You're fooling yourself if you believe they have no idea what is arriving at their stores. Clearly no idea how businesses work.
These things always come out around Christmas time. They're decent stocking stuffers for kids with short attention spans.
Forgot to mention I went by my 5 below, and they had about 30 of them. If anyone has trouble finding them, they were by the computer accessories in the back left corner of my store. If that helps.
Thanks, they didn't have anything like this at mine. I probably spent 30 minutes looking everywhere lol
At mine it was up front with the holiday stocking stuffer section. It was on a high shelf so I wouldn't of noticed if it weren't for the fact someone had taken one to look at and laid it on the shelf below.
Thanks loads!!!
My Five Below was sold out. The employee stated the item was priced at $20 and not $10... Sounds like 5 Below is gettin shifty. I only buy candy from them lol! Thanks for doin this video and including all the detail about the board and such.
There 10 just check 5 below website
@@dam5845 Thanks man.
My didn’t have it either 😢 but thanks to this snitching mother f@$&!er I ended up spending $31 in socks, a gaming mouse, something called Cats vs Pickles, a laptop stand, and some chips and candy to make myself fatter.
Thank you and keep the good work 👍
@@JoeSantini
$20?
If _5 below_ tries that sh1t again...
...give them _5 across the eyes,_ Joe!
@@dududu5189 Lol! Hell yeah!
I remember getting something kinda similar to this off the shelf at WalMart YEARS ago. These kind of systems have been around for quite a while. lol
Soulja Boy was 2018? Geeze. That's when I found your channel and it doesn't seem that long ago.
Id love to see if you could reflash the roms
i got 2 of these of aliexpress for 10usd each came with a 2 player controller too that plugs into the charging port also to note both of mine one came with a swollen battery and my other one after using for maybe 3/4 week or so battery became swollen :(
thanks for the heads up checked mine and the battery is starting to swell and become spicy
@@reviewsfornoobs Your Welcome
china serving the kids time bombs disguised as gameboys lol
There is a kiosk in the local mall selling a fake looking NES with 130 games loaded in. That is definitely bootleg and they sell it all year round along with stuffed animals.
Was it a dude that barely speaks english...? Lol
Yeah but kiosks are the amazon 3rd party seller of the real world lol. They not a major corp.
Now you did it. Starting to see other videos about this handheld. It's gonna be like Cabbage Patch kids doll all over again
Found these today in my local Five Below. They changed the packaging a bit (removed Excitebike from the screen on the package) and also changed the "cartridge" inside to only a 200 in 1. Not complaining for the price.
5 Below should send you some $ if they haven't already. Picked up one of these right after watching your vid.👍
Found one at a thrift store for $2. Got home, dropped it down the stairs, and now the screen has lines :)
Maybe just some solder points needs a little reflow
They got a windmill on friendship and tolerance in that ABXY button cluster.
Some of these cheap stores found a work around. They are not "selling" them. They are selling a spot in their store and a vender is filling it. I'm not sure this is what they are doing, but I know its a work around. It could also be why the price is above their store max of $5.00
Not all heroes wear capes. MLP has an invisible one.
I see lots of people picked one up, has anyone plugged it into their PC just to see if they can access the game files? I doubt it's that simple but I'm just curious.
I plugged it but it just charges up. I will try different cables.
Seems like a good way to infect your computer with spyware
That’s why you’d use a virtual machine🤦🏻
I wonder if the board and all would fit in an OG gameboy shell..
For hand comfort
If you're good enough at soldering and cutting anything can fit in anything
The only thing im dissappointed in is that it wasn't just a micro SD card. The form factor and screen would make the unit perfect for GB GBC NES and Sega to a degree. Then again since it runs the games rather fine from what I could see in the video I would assume the chipset could handle up to Sega. Then again it would probably end up like my Retro Pocket 2+ eventually, just in a box.
This is not any kind of emulation its a reversed engineered NES hardware solution called a NOAC or NES on a chip.
its still do able if your good with mod chips and soldering . Assuming your able to tap into the processor.
So, any modding may have to be done by micro USB. This is the same Hand held as that SUP handheld. I think someone managed to mod one.
Plug it in then power on for the PC to pick up an unrecognizable device, you'll need to look for drivers like I'm doing as of today
@@nexik3did you succeed?
I got Friday the 13th for Christmas when I was a kid I was so happy I started playing it Jason popped out like that almost had a heart attack literally
jumped up off the floor from a sitting position straight into my parents bed and start it hyperventilating😂🤣💀
Thank you for the tear down of this! And I’m a loyal pixel:) all thumbs up 👍 from me. Those that thumbs down 👎 are just passerbys not fans. have been here for the long haul. Also do you think it’s better then an og oled modded psvita for retro gaming? 😂
ABSOLUTELY "snitching" doesn't apply to corporations.
Solder on flat push button contacts where the d pad pin-ins are located. Similar to gba sp. will be delightful ☺️
I literally just saw this over Thanksgiving haha. One of my relatives is on a fb group that was pushing these to their members for $25 calling it the "super bear" haha 😄
Didn't know about it until you made a video. Finally got one. Thank you 😏
I’m a collector of old school stuff and this a MUST ❤👍👍👍😅
Five Below is not the first one to do something like this Walmart used to sell a DVD player that was portable that came with a Sega Genesis want to be controller they had Nintendo games built into it QVC the Home Shopping Network sold all kinds of bootleg Nintendo stuff I can't remember if it was Walgreens or CVS one of them sold a bootleg Wii with all kinds of Nintendo games in it
Has anyone tried plugging the USB into their computer? Possible data access?
it will do nothing
Thanks for listening on the tear down question. BTW does it have save states in the software?
No they’re very basic. Each exit is like a system reset
I bought one just to see if it is any good. After messing with it I wanted to grab a couple more and they were out. Even went to multiple locations.
Love the video Bro., always do Keep up the good work. Always love the jokes too. Youve been one of my favorite channels for a long time. Always leaves me satisfied. That's what she said.
Thats a nice real cheap case + LCD + speakers combo you got there for only 10 USD! It should be trivial to throw in a raspberry pi zero in there and craft a low budget piboy.
The hardest part would be sourcing the pi :V
Yes, man I hope so, I have a few pzeros itching to try it
Never heard of that store but the complaint comments are hilarious. This company will look at their sales in the next month and see 300% growth, right before the ban hammer from Nintendo slaps them in the face.
Hey Mad Little Pixel there is another arcade system there, I wonder if that one has anything on it?
I just got one of these from their website, except its 200 games now instead of 400. I only bought it for the tv connection and to see if I could install other games on it some how
I took this apart awhile ago myself wasn't a video on it then nice to see one now, needs better buttons but otherwise decent.
I seen stuff like that. I’ve seen stuff like that in Walmart this stuff like that well when Kmart was open, there was stuff like that there in truck stops around the country and these are nation wide truckstops even going in to Canada and into Mexico like they sell the stuff it’s just a point of they buy the stuff from China. They bring it over here and they throw it in the air and people are going to buy it. They don’t care about none of the extra stuff because if that’s the case, they would’ve been sued and they haven’t but I’m not knocking your hustle because I love your channel so you get a thumbs up all day, but I didn’t know that five below had them
Five Below New Slogan: Power to the players 😏
I thought the snitchin' comment was a joke.
I just got the 200 in 1 game. Now that I know Friday the 13th is on the 400in1 I need it😂
Lmao "come on motha flonkah" I did get some after this video I didn't think you were snitching
I still can't believe there's a kiosk at the area mall that still selling the bootleg nes classic. Even after 4 years I always wonder how many that guy got and how many he sells per day.
Could you use that screen to replace a game gear or Lynx screen?
May if you change the membranes it will control better by the way love to see you do a project with this device
The previous generation of this that sold on Amazon for $8 had this on the first page:
1 super Mario bro
2 Mario 14
3 super Mario 3
4 Dr Mario
5 Mario bros
It seems they must have pulled these of on the newer ones.
I wish there was a way to put your own data on this but unfortunately that's not possible. I did a deep dig into the subject and no one has been able to mod this thing in any way.
I want to grab a couple of these just for the display, could be good for a Raspberry Pi project of some sort
Ppl calling u a snitch is so ridiculous.....but not a surprise at all.
Unbelievable! LoL. I've seen plenty of the crummy cheap consoles at like Walgreens or CVS but those I think have some licensed games. Pacman galaga etc. But nothing like this. Don't let the haters get you down!
Haters gonna hate.
Merkury Innovations is a pretty large tech company that is headquartered in New York, NY. This isn't a foreign entity that is stealing from America. The CEO & co-founder is Steven Levy. Most of those games are from Asia, though.
I reviewed one of these some months ago. Identical to this except I bought mine from wal-mart and had 200 games instead of 400.
Thank you so much for snitching! Was able to garb 1 for my nephew who loves retro games for Christmas.
$10 for what this thing can do is an easy impulse buy
Love the reviews and videos… always informative and objective…. No bs 👍
Ima call u Fidget from now on. Lol too many Monsters does that to me too. Lol WAHOOH
Can’t even make jokes on RUclips anymore 😂 people forgot what a joke really is.
I'm gonna check my 5 below tomorrow
Meanwhile Johnny from down the street is sweating bullets...
5 Below makes millions by selling bootleg handheld with illegal ROMs on it…
Soulja Boy: reeeeeeeeeeeeee!
love the vids man and love the content...fudge these sensitive internet trolls
I'm sad this wasn't a hatchet-based teardown.
The internals of these are not all the same on these. I opened one up to add a 47 omh resistor and nothing was marked on the board.
that looks like a easy rom hack, desolder that board and easy reading, probably somoene already made a tool to extract and inject different roms and tune it for specific games.
these days it may not even be a full NESonChip, i got cheap "riscv" microcontrollers that can do all sorts of cool stuff and a NES emulator written in micropython. meaning, if its not a nesonchip, it might be capable of so much more.
Id buy one anyway, cool vid :D
Awe.... I was hoping you broke em or smash em up... Lmao 😆
Looks like Soulja Boy has some competition in the bootleg market.
Soulja Boy wishes he had the retail chain clout that this system has
Five below just pulled a soldier boy (soldier, game)
I didn't know anything about this but I found it pretty cool thanks for the teardown.
3:58 that's what she said
At this point, I don't understand the selection of games on these famiclone systems. The entire NES library is widely available, and is only a couple of hundred MB in size, so they could easily make a device with a complete library on it.
I bet they would sell like hot cakes.
Seen it in other retail stores Big lots sells this too and these are super super cheap on Alibaba Express seen them before for $4.
Theres several models of this handheld out there theres even one with an sd card slot to add other games
Unfortunately its getting hard to find this little console i didnt buy it because those tiny little things in my big hands make my hands hurt a gba shaped device would have been much better
Time to check the 5below dumpsters
That battery looks like the same battery for my blackberry 8320 I may buy it just for the battery.
Got one but it's missing the battery and I'm having trouble finding a cheap replacement.
Hello and thanks for the video. it is possible to connect a 12" monitor through socket for the flexible cable?
What's a good cheap version of this type of knock off that also has the Mario games and Zelda, Metroid, etc.? Thought of giving one as a gift, so if it gets tore up, then no big deal.
Got mine today. My controller does suck but it’s not as bad as the one you have, my joypad sucks but does not go in the shell when pressing it.
Hey MLP they have another arcade system there, I wonder if they have anything on it also.
Lmfao “soulja boy’ed up”
The Mario in the back of the box is the super Mario all stars version
"They have no right to be selling these" so I went back and bought a bunch more... lol
Perfect device to take with you when you gotta take a long dump after feasting on tacos 🌮.
They sell those at,Walgreens,cvs,7-11,am-pm,dollar tree, every other gas station.
Went to my local Five Below and could not find one of these. I can't even find it on their website.
www.fivebelow.com/products/classic-arcade-handheld-game-system
Open it up and let’s see the AtGames stamp in there 😂. Only kidding AtGames
Man I can't find this thing in the 5 Below stores out by me! I think you might have some regional deal going on where you're at or something. I really wanted to try this thing out for myself. Plus screw those morons for accusing you of snitching 5 Below! Like you said, they wouldn't have even been aware of this thing if it weren't for your video in the first place lol! It wasn't a total loss though because in my searching for this handheld I stumbled upon a hand held keyboard/mouse for PC for 5 bucks and it's totally awesome! I used it to type this comment! Thanks MLP!
I never down voted the video but I did joke and asked "why you snitching?" 😆 🤣 😂 which you also joked about
1:21 ah my favourite game, nuts milk
How hard would it be to add an SD card and homebrew this fella?
Bought one the exact same one for .99 cents at Shein and it's garbage still have it and played with it maybe 10 mins and I put it in the box and probably just go donate it at goodwill or the first person I see on the street as I walk by give it to them idk probably better for goodwill
i bought one of these off wish and it had all kinda of knock off games, like a mario game where he had some kind of staff as a weapon
