Resorts are built on islands originally uninhabited and leased to private hospitality companies on a long term as a whole. It is not really one country two systems like Hong Kong, it is more like whatever happens inside private property is not of any concern to the law enforcement because islands are far away from the populated islands with inhabitants.
Maldivians are not separate from tourists, many are employed in the resorts along with Indians, Sri Lankans, Bangladeshis, Filipinos, Nepali, Chinese (for Chinese hotel chains) and of course, in the airport.
Stupid Indians should stop going to such hostile places where they are insulted, mocked, disrespected just because they are Hindus. Why waste your hard earned money, valuable energy and precious time on such hostile wretched places? They don’t like you but want your 💴 money 😂

Maldives reached out to us and uk first during coup attempt. They told they cannot help immediately because of distance and hence they suggested to reach out to India. They did not have a choice that time. So, Maldives is not friendly always. They are forced to co-operate because of proximity and they need help all the time

I have been to Maldives in 2013. Discriminations against Indian was obvious in the main land but was limited in the tourist islands. Considering the way Islam spirit has grown up in the country it is obvious that the discrimination would only be higher.

Not only abandon Maldives but India must do all it can to change the current anti-India Govt. Perhaps intended or unintended Modiji perhaps has already started that. MEA and RAW must work towards sinking Maldivian economy, then set revolutionary changes to change their constitution into secular, and make this a secular non-Islamic country and keep it within Indian strategic control. Otherwise Chinese game will take over.

Maldivians don't want indian military presence or any country's military to be present in its shores. They don't have any issue with Indians in maldives. There are 33000 Indians working in maldives and never had any issues.

Government had restricted tourism in Lakshadeep all these years due to ecological reasons. Hope that doesn't change overnight. Sustainability must be ensured while enabling tourism.

Mainly Fuel and oils, machinery, iron and steel, pharmaceuticals, plastics almost 50% of the total. Indian visitors @200,000 add 150 to 200 million local spend in Maldives. Maldives sends students to educate them in India and large visions come in for medical treatment. How economically ignorant are these NEW leaders in Maldive? In 25 years most of the islands are going to drown due to climate changes. Do they think they will be welcome in China? Turkey? India is the only hope they have. I have only seen such “ Shooting your own foot” leadership in Pakistan. And the results everyone to see! Only God can save them and the next best bet is India and Modi ji. Stupid leaders!

The foreign tourist arrival is certainly hurting our nation, this could very well because of the issues those who arrived faced and the stories they took back home, you could see the image that has been built for India on the social media, the unsanitary conditions we live in , the Financial capital of our nation smells incredibly bad and all our cities are a mess, some of the worst in the world, I hope the situation improves, but doesn't look like it will happen in our lifetime.
