Smooth Norbert the Great Horned Owl does his wake-up hoots

It is nesting season on the west coast, and although Great Horned Owl nesting times are wildly variable, Smooth Norbert and Onkina have started to get busy over the past two weeks.
Onkina hardly ever leaves her nest site now, and Smooth Norbert spends his afternoons alone in the sun (when it's out).
Smooth Norbert still hoots in the afternoon, but Onkina rarely answers now. She does a few honks every other day or so, and on the days she does briefly leave her nest, it is often just for a "quicky" before she returns.
The atmospheric rivers have turned their forest into a marsh, and I wonder how easy it is for them to find prey.
