    I liked hearing from the engineers in this as opposed to sales guys.
    I see some negative comments from people who have never heard any of this gear IRL.
    There are tens of thousands of people designing amps in the world. There's a reason Nelson Pass is considered a living legend and it's the sound of his products

    Thorne toroidal transformer s are huge. The transformer in the Int 60 is 1000vu, about twice the competitions.

    How do you compare pass labs these days to some of the "entry level" AN?

    I love my Pass audio 😉 but for you other guy's, don't come to the plate if you can't play the game.

    Ahh, the increasing significance of the smallest difference. Your kenwood will get you 99% of these amps. It’s that last 1% that cost so much!

      I think it's fair though, ultra hi-end is an ultra low volume ultra niche market, it's almost entirely built by hand, research burns a lot of money too, and if you can also agree that; someone's life long dedication, for delivering the world some audio performance never heard before, does worth something..., then it's fair...
      And in Nelson P's case, he even shares his circuit design findings freely for DIYers who can't afford it to build it and actively discussing it with DIYer himself... I think with that kind of efforts, he really moves the industry forward in an unprecedented ways.
      Even so, if you are still only interested to pay for the cost of components that are used, let me tell you a little secret, you can go China's Taobao website, and you can buy a replica costing 1/20 or less~

      Some people gamble. Some purchase German automobiles. Some purchase bikes made for the Tour de France. I see nothing wrong with purchasing a American made amplifier that’s built to last.

      Nelson Pass gives you a choice - you can buy the Pass Labs amps in bespoke cases or you can buy one of his FirstWatt amps - still expensive compared to amps from companies like Schiit and Emotiva, but my point is that you have a CHOICE - no-one is saying 'Sorry, this is your only choice if you want a good amplifier in 2018 !'. Jam's HPA design is reasonably expensive for a headphone amplifier - 3500USD for a single-ended analog amplifier is up there but not exorbitant compared to some of the 'money no object' designs : so many choices that simply were nowhere to be seen when I got into this crazy hobby 10 years ago.
      Anyone who feels that a 'bunch of transistors and capacitors' (lets not forget the massive toroidal power supplies) shouldnt cost this much money needs to start looking up price lists for Audio Note, Shindo and similar bespoke operations and dont even get me started on some of the tubed DACs on sale in 2018. I dont know who the customers are for those products, but clearly they exist.

      Vincent. Yes of course you are right. But bear in mind the sort of 'natural' way ie the 'Law of Diminishing Returns' If it is out of your price range that is ok but to others it can be fair value.

      If you want to hear the equipment go to a dealer or show. You can not hear anything near what it sounds like once it's been through a mic and the cameras circuitry, compressed to mp3 and put on youtube and played through your computer...

      @davidtomsett 7 лет назад +1

      bassl0va I said the same thing in another AVShowroom video. I live in the U.K. so to travel to the states would be too expensive, although it would be great as UK shows don't have great exhibitors such as Pass Labs!

      LOL, some say you need to have these things in your own room with your own equipment to hear it properly. Forget sound rooms, and certainly forget RUclips on your crappy laptop speakers. Grab a brain.

      @@bassl0va some people do own a very good home made usb dac , a home made amp camp amplifier , a filter upgraded klipsch hip speaker set and a decent laptop with a very stable power supply .... mp3 is good if used with 320 kb , opus and other top codecs are very good too . and i absolutely hear all differences . and yes , most v e v o uploads are not worth listening to . search for kyama or 24 bit hq if you want good sound on youtube ... just enjoy music , that is what it is all about , at least i do not care if someone wants to pay a lot of money for their equipment , as long as they enjoy the music , its all that really matters!

    This guy doesn't seem very passionate about pass labs and hardware. Think you need someone whose heart is into it.

      I TOTALLY AGREE! This guy seems so unimpressed he could just be selling apple juice. Kinda smug actually. This market is really about some degree of enthusiasm

    • @Smood47
      @Smood47 4 года назад

      @@tdw57 Desmond in the other pass labs video is much better. He has more passion. And there is on other pass video on AV showrooms with a guy with a mustache (not Nelson himself) that is very enthusiastic.
      A great example of lots of passion is Rune Skov of Gryphon. You can see the huge amount of pride and happiness he has when discussing their electronics.

    My comment will hurt many peoples still i felt like to post it, sorry for hurting you all. First its my passion to see the internal of the components, Still i am looking the internal picture of my MBL 1621A trasport didnt found it yet. NOW its sick how pass displaying the internals and allows viewers to touch the triodials like as if few on very rare occasion when we used to buy bulls some bad people tries. to garb the bolls of the bulls. its sick. No one should allow to touch the bolls of Pass Lab, i am ofended. Why we need to touch the internals of our beloved components.
