  • February 7, 2025 - The Asia Society Policy Institute’s Center for China Analysis (CCA) presents a panel discussion where veteran China watchers consider the obstacles to understanding what is happening in the country today. These include the departure of China-based experts, restricted access, growing suspicions of foreign influence, and the uncertainties surrounding the second Trump administration. Speakers include Katja Drinhausen, head of Program at the Mercator Institute for China Studies; Seth Faison, Partner and co-leader of Brunswick’s China Hub and former bureau chief New York Times Shanghai; and Joerg Wuttke, partner at DGA-Albright Stonebridge Group and former president of the EU Chamber of Commerce. Lynette H. Ong, CCA senior fellow on Chinese Society, moderates the discussion. (1 hr.)

Maybe all western diplomats should go back to school and taking diplomacy 101 again to learn how to deal with any foreign countries properly, let alone China.

Ah Asia Society started the conversation by highlighting the words autocratic and communism and many more times thereafter. The art of dealing with anyone is respect. Regardless of ideology a country adopts, the lives of its people is what matters. Also, to show basic respect you could try to get the name of Communist Party of Chine right. China is notoriously not good at research? Haha. Hahaha.

Maybe you should stop looking at China from a Western political perspective and really see China as a country that is developing on its own terms, with its own interests and goals. Hear China's own voice instead of the echo of Western rhetoric.

why in every chinese expert talk or so called veteran observers you guys always use the weirdest looking..I guess supposed to be chinese petson to look more official?but please let me give you my china observation area which is really just common sense that whenever you try to tell a negative narrative please dont ever use anyone that might look chinese and a person with the western ideology and education to employment. why? because not a single right minded person with some common sense is going to look at a chinese person critisizing their own chinese. Is like a canadian trying to portray a bad canada, or american talking bad on american. Nobody will take that seriously even if is true.
