Currently, it's really super difficult to pick five hoyas because they're all trying their hardest right now to be the most enchanting hoya in the world.
But in fact, some treasures do linger for a while, and number 5 is definitely one of those beauties _H. heuschkeliana variegata_ .
She was the first cutting I accidentally planted rather horizontally, causing her to initially grow in circles inside the pot. Even though this is not everyone's cup of tea, I now try to get this right with every new cutting, because this way roots are formed at potentially every node that comes close to the substrate, which look very healthy to me, and at these nodes the tendency to sprout itself is hormonally somewhat more favorable. And so she's actually sprouting totally wild right now, which is exactly what you want in Heuschkelianas. Oh, and her main shoot looks equally good hanging as tied up, which is not something every hoya can claim.
    Number 4 is my _H. elliptica_ .
The beginning was so difficult, and the cutting lost all leaves, so really had to start from scratch as a wetstick. But for that, she does what I absolutely love her for: short internodes and basically two leaves per node, none of which she discarded. It gives that adorable dragon scale look that is especially accentuated by her many shades of green, bright white venation, and a constant, not-too-high amount of splash. And I just discovered three new sprouts!
Number 3 is _H. sp. 'Chicken Farm'_ .
Aside from producing really great splashy foliage that is beautiful to the touch, my clone has now produced its fifth leaf in a row with certain "brightenings" that collectors take note of with an excited gasp.
    A hybrid by Mike Bernado has taken second place: _H. 'Nathalie'_ ( _H. erythostemma X H. 'Joy'_ ( _H. sp. Laos X H. vitellina_ )).
Under my conditions, the foliage is bright lemon-green, lemon-shaped, and has wide, contrasting margins in a deep purple. There could hardly be anything more beautiful....
... except perhaps the number 1!
For combining very compact growth, gorgeous, bright green, very dark, wavy leaf margins, feel and growth rate, she deserves the win: _H. sp. AH-556 Seeds - 002_ .
This foliage is from another star. I just can't look away.
It would be a dream to tease some more splash out of her. Is anyone else selecting for this by chance?
If you are still reading this comment, thank you, but there is another reason why I have something special to celebrate right now: At this very moment, I'm watching my very first hoya flower open... _H. carnosa 'Krimson Queen'_ is giving me this beautiful moment. And yet, I almost missed it. After a full day of hard work in the garden, all I really wanted to do was go to sleep as quickly as possible when I happened to see a wink and was suddenly wide awake again. Somehow I still managed to start a timelapse video. It would be so great if the recording is good, and I could save this unique moment.

    • @BasiePlants

I have been wanting to get AH-556 seeds 002 for the longest time! I think the leaves are very pretty. I don't know that anyone is selecting for a splashier version. I adore my hesuckeliana too

Miro, I am going to have to stop watching your videos. I want everyone you show. And I don't have any more room. Lol. Awesome video. Thank you

Lovely hoya, as usual. Although, stubbornly not blooming at all for 11 years and counting would be a deal breaker for me 👀
My all time favourite is the Caudata. Next Hoya Soidaoensis and Hoya Thomsonii (although mine is currently absolutely dying and refusing all cooperation, so I'm at a loss) Hoya Callistophylla is a terrible drama queen, but has absolutely gorgeous leaves and 5th place is tied with Memoria and Bella. No drama, no tantrums, just steady growing and solid blooming. Lovely dudes :)

Haha :D Well, look at it from the bright side - no flower clean up. I am sorry to hear about your thomsonii! I hope it pulls through 😳 I prefer lyi over thomsonii but that is only because I bloomed 2 lyis and 0 thomsoniis :D Callistophylla is a trash queen if you ask me xD I have MANY opinions on it.

I'm obsessed with this lil carnosa now😭
    top five🌱:
    hypolasia
    pauciflora
vl-9(it might be peninsularis, but this one not growing😒)
    onychoides
    sp. germany

Isn't it adorable?! Wait till you see how cute it gets when it gets "bigger"! VL-9 and peninsularis are not the same :) VL-9 is sp.aff.sigillatis, small-leaved species, and penisularis gets quite big - I love my peninsularis but boy is that a cursed plant that doesn't grow fast! Onychoides, I will NOT comment on. Hypolasia and pauciflora have a special spot in my heart

@@BasiePlants ah, I mean vl-9 and peninsularis kind of fighting for third place in this list😅sorry for my sleepy english~
