Weird thing is, Mickey wasn't the captain in the original cartoon - he was the deckhand. The captain was none other than his arch-nemesis Peg Leg Pete.
(also, the boat in Steamboat Willie was a river barge...)

I do hope Mickey Mouse isn't only used for horror games cause that'll get stale. I think a platformer using the fact that he's essentially made of rubber would be fun.
There is a game in development called "The Public Domain." It looks like a platformer with a news clipping art style where you play as Mickey Mouse and try to escape.

@Edwar491 epic mickey was puzzle platformer for the wii(?) back then. Its one of the better mickey mouse games of the recent era. There is also epic mickey 2 but that one is slightly disturbing due to some art choices.

I watched someone else play this game, and for some reason, this is the first time I had a nightmare from a video, i was in my house but I was night and occasionally the steamboat willie walks into the room im in and I have to hide, kind of like tjoc
I find it Ironic through Mickey Mouse horror games like the five nights at Freddy one (sorry I forgot it’s name) we’re still made even before Steamboat Willy went public domain, but only now are more people wanting make and play these games. Oh well more power to ya😊

You GOTTA be dumb if you think this is good. Its a literal walking simulator with exactly 12 seconds of "horror" gameplay. There are also so many plot holes and inconsistencies that are just too big to overlook. Also the ending is so easily predictable that it is incredible that anyone will find it scary. Oh gosh right though it took me a while to make the connection to unlock that memory. No idea if ice cream trucks are still using that music, but last time I heard it some time last year it still does

I have a theory.
There was an extra room and bones in the basement, means someone lived there to (?)
The protag doesn't know Willie, so he may be new.
In the original, Pete the cat is the captain of the ship and the villain. Willie was a deckhand.
My theory is that Willie was the previous deckhand. He ate the previous captain and became the captain himself. That is why he got lost, he is no captain in reality. The bones in the basement are of the previous captain (maybe Pete).
Before getting lost, he recruits a new deckhand and attacks them. The protagonist is the victim.
Very unstable theory but at least it makes sense.
I guess everytime something becomes part of the public domain, people’s first thought is to make them scary, dark or twisted whatever the reasons.
Though in Steamboat Willie, Mickey is let’s just say a morally questionable character.
This horror game is mostly lay on the fact that mickey/willy is not supposed to be a captain in the first place. We see clearly in the original that he's just a cremate who plays with the wheel when the captain is not around.
We can guess that in the game, willy kills the original captain to finally take over the boat and live his own adventures by taking the large sea. But of course, he doesn't have any experience and even knowledge about navigating, so he clearly took the wheel without even know (and probably even care) about where the hell he's going.
His strange attitude around us can be seen as a clue about what he do with the original captain. After he killed it, he doesn't know what to do with the body. So he decided to hide it in the basement of the ship. We can guess that he ate some parts of the body because there was not enough space to hide the whole thing. We can guess this act of cannibalism is the reason why willy becomes a monster when he's hungry (it's like wendigo. When you eat somebody else's flesh, you become slowly a monster that seek humans for food).
Of course, he hates what he's done, but everytime he's hungry, he cannot stop his bloodlust. At a point that even looking at his cremate gives him this urge.
This is how I see the story.
i like how everything is taking place in the context of the original animation, and instead of just being pure evil, mickey slowly goes mad from starvation. i was concerned, but for one of the first steamboat willie games of the year, this is really cool.

I just find it hilarious once things go public domain, everyone makes horror stuff of it.
But god DAMN, this game has TOO much filler/padding and we don’t get to the horror until the end.
Its actually interesting to see the captain go from kinda friendly to an insane monster because of starvation

What I don't understand is how they ran out of food so FAST. There's only two people on the boat, each person supposedly only eating two potatoes each day; EVERY DAY, we have a WHOLE TRAY of potatoes LEFT OVER after we've chopped our four potatoes. That supply should've lasted longer; we shouldn't have needed to get more potatoes from below deck the first time for atleast another few days. Yet Willie/Mickey said we needed more pretty quick, and he again said we needed more even sooner. But the Player never goes to the potato room after the initial chopping that Mickey/Willie tells us to do; maybe it wasn't the Player eating all the potatoes, but Mickey.

I adore this games graphical style. It's similar to BATIM but has very much its own feel. Good to see games like this :3

Hello SuperHorrorBro, I have yet to finish watching the video but I just wanted to ask if you could perhaps talk about a game called Zoochosis! Maybe it’s a bit too gruesome for some people but it seems very interesting from their trailer! It explores body horror with animales by making them something akin to what The Thing did to the Antarctic explorers.

Why that sound so threatens
This might seem random but the ice cream truck music mixed with licensing of a character reminds me of a story that I heard once when I was at comic con where a young comic writer knew someone who owned and operated an ice cream truck over in Europe and one day they asked him "So who is a popular character that all the kid's like?" to which he told this person Blade. So long story short the owner of the ice cream truck painted Blade on the side of the truck but instead of his sword it was a giant popsicle. Needless to say if Marvel found out they wouldn't have been happy but that's what made it hilarious and memorable enough for me to remember now apparently.
Tbh the best ending is letting him eat you, as there is no way you lived as you were also starving anyway. And I hardly doubt a small raft will get you to land if a steam powered boat can't with that much coal.

The difference between Captain Willie and Infestation: Origins is that this game actually has something to do with Steamboat Willie but lacks quality (not saying it’s bad) but Infestation: Origins is a very impressive looking game but (probably) has nothing to do with Steamboat Willie.

I'm pretty sure this game was probably in development before January 1, but I think that's okay.
This game is pretty cool, but I wish it was more stylized. Aside from the black and white filtering, all of the textures look realistic and bland, and Mickey’s model is pretty basic as well and hardly animated.
Maybe the textures could be given more of a hand-drawn look to be more cartoony, and Mickey could have an animation while steering the boat and maybe whistle the toon, which definitely needs to play less.
Did you catch at the end that there were more bags of potatoes in the hold? Easy to miss in the escape sequence.
Mike, please revisit Ghostwire Tokyo. There’s been a MASSIVE update that expands Tokyo there’s a new mode, more tori gates, and there’s a side mission where you enter a school and oh my god it’s the most unsettling thing ever. I won’t say anymore in case you do decide to revisit. The decision is entirely up to you though. It just made me think of you and that you’d probably like it.
