  • One of my most successful midge patterns, that is a little different. Tied on a size 18-20 heavy nymph hook, when I sell or give this pattern away, I do so with a catch guarantee! It never fails!
    Hook: Mustad Heritage S82 AP # 18
    Tying thread: Sheer 14/0 white
    Body: UTC Small Opal tinsel
    Rib: Pheasant tail fibre
    Head: Peacock herl

    Smart tip tying two strands in case one breaks. I unwind my thread and start over. Thanks Barry!

      Thanks. Just something that you learn after tying many dozens.

    Tying in the second strand, as they are prone to break, is just so...."why didn't I think of that".
    Nice looking fly and will be added to the box.

    It’s a good trick to tie twp fibers for in case of break during ribbing. Thank you✌️

    Nice one Barry. Sometimes a delicate pattern such as your "Easy Street" is just the ticket to induce a tug from a wily trout. Will dress a few on TMC101 (straight eye). Thanks

    Holy smoke…I make the same fly except I use dimpled silver Christmas Mylar tinsel, Sally Hansen instead of super glue and peacock hurl instead of PT…as my rib. My head is also peacock hurl! I will try your version and compare the results of fishing them! Great minds think alike! Ha ha!

      Thanks. There are very few patterns that are new Mike, they are just variants on old ones. Do and please let me know.

    Hi Barry, got your excellent book. However having used mustad hooks as a wee boy 50 years ago you cannot find mustad hooks in uk except a few types spread throughout differing tackle shops. Its virtually impossible to find the hooks you show in the UK. There is no one stop shop for mustad hooks

      Thank you. The new distributor for Europe of Mustad is 'fly fish Europe', so they should be available soon at your local fly shop!

    Is this a nymph or a dry fly? If it is dry fly, why the heavy nymph hook?

    • @mikelundrigan2285
      @mikelundrigan2285 2 месяца назад

      Definitely not a dry fly, surprised you would ask!

    • @Thefeatherbender
      @Thefeatherbender  2 месяца назад +1

      This is a pupa, it fishes just under the surface. The heavy nymph hook is not that heavy on a # 18 hook, but it's enough to get it through the surface and sink a little.
