    Nice one, Colin.
    1) The north perimeter will not be parallel to the north stand, remember. Whilst it's closer to the edge of the overhang where the overhang starts, it gradually diverges to the west end to be about 10m away from the North Stand ground facade.
    2) At 1:10 mins you can see how well they have got on with re-sealing and re-mortaring the domed rooves of the northern gate towers.
    3) Had you noticed that they had overlaid the covers on about 80% of the length of the mitred joints of the Polycarbonate roof?
    4) At 9:37 mins, you can see how the water-effect flags are laid to give the effect of gradually darker water when traversing from the dock wall towards the stadium facade.
    3) Your attention at 10:02 mins was the old dock wall Granite Copping Stones, not the future location of the other concrete 2-tiered bench. The future northern bench will, like the southern one, be located out fro the full-depth brick facade between the portals, where the blue cherry picker has it's boom resting (see at 10:11 mins).
    4) At 10:15 - 10:16 mins you can see the line of probable mood-lighting posts following the line of the barrel roof bottom edge, on the East Stand concrete roof.

      I did see the mitered joint covers on the poly-carbonate but to be honest couldn't remember if they had already been done a while.
      I didn't notice the water effect flags until i watched it on a bigger screen.
      I was winging it looking for the second 2 tier bench ;)
      I haven't checked the status of the west stand mood lighting posts lately either so will do that on the next visit.

      @@robfalcon3404 Rob: the top lip of the concrete 'wall' (which is really only a base) will be just 15cm above the level of the yet-to-be-laid asphalt surface on the BMD side and 35cm above UU's land hard surface. The BMD hard surface actually slopes slightly down to the perimeter from the base of the stadium facade. It's a drop of 20cm over a distance of 9.5m, at the midway cross-section of the North Stand.
      There will be a standard steel security fence mounted on top of the wall, standing at about 2.4 m, meaning that the top of the fence will be about 2.6m above the BMD asphalt surface.

    There really is a considerable difference between the 2 roof sections. I didn't expect that. Of course, I know the stadium will move due to settling in. Great video highlighting that mate👌

    • @davidbadcock2225
      @davidbadcock2225 25 дней назад +1

      I was shocked to hear that the settling was as much as 45 cm even if that was still dead centre of the expected range of 30 - 60 cm.

      How would that be sorted/levelled?

    • @davidbadcock2225
      @davidbadcock2225 25 дней назад +4

      @@Graeme726 Graeme: maybe I need to be a bit more specific in my comment. LoR expected the North/South stands rooves to settle by as much as 30-6- cm after the Blue Support towers were removed (if you remember them?). The fact that it actually hit the centre of the range at 45 cm, means that the line of the roof should end up pretty much in line with the expected other side of the movement joint of the East and West stand rooves, after their own degree of settling. So, hopefully, it should end up being a lot easier to fill the gap than if it hadn't hit centre of the range. Installing shaped covers that are kind of only matching across a 2 dimensional, horizontal axis rather than a 3 dimensional, vertical and horizontal border will be much easier than the worst projected.

    • @cp-overview
      @cp-overview  25 дней назад +4

      Thanks David, I wasn't sure i had originally explained it very well and people were thinking there was a 45cm difference in heights of the 2 stands rather than the fact they both dropped around 45cm.
      It is the one fact that surprised me on the tour, and they did explain that the blue support towers were all lowered equally, slowly until the settling stopped. It had become my new goal in looking for the step in heights they had spoke about.

      Due to the heritage status of the docks, Historic England and the council objected to a big Everton sign on the stadium exterior, and they weren’t keen having a large EFC badge either. There will be blue EFC banners in the main fan zone plaza and under both the north and south stands though.

    I'm a bit confused by the Wind-Baffles you referred to at 11:18. Is this going to be a covered walkway un der the South Stand? They look like bike sheds and they don't look very elegant/ pleasing to the eye...Other than that the Stadium is progressing well now...

    • @davidbadcock2225
      @davidbadcock2225 24 дня назад

      Mike: the planned wind baffles are slim arches, much like the baffles that are being erected around the trees along the South Concourse. As they will be like big sails, in terms of the winds, they have to be pretty strongly attached to good foundations, which will be why the "+ shaped" concrete bases are formidable.
      They will not make a covered walkway. There should be 14 of them, each one in line with each of the South Stand steel bases.
      However, I do wonder if this is an area of the plan which may have been altered since their approval, especially as more room has to be found for the additional "Everton Way" phases.
      It's a watch-this-space (literally!) scenario as to what the actual baffles will end up looking like and exactly how many of them will be installed.

  • @davidfell7438

    • @Philtymo
      @Philtymo 25 дней назад

      Apparantly the width at the north end near the wall is like a 3 lane motorway so looks can be deceiving from the air

    • @davidbadcock2225
      @davidbadcock2225 25 дней назад +5

      David: Lots of reasons but, in short, 1) the N-S axis meant less sunshine interference at an end, 2) more plaza space for other uses, 3) broader main stands and 4) Dan Meis' intention of creating a hemmed- in, organic feel with the North Stand compromised for just vehicle movement hidden under it to allow the maximisation of space for the South/Home Stand. There's no right or wrong way but a compromise and balance of architects', EFC-brief and other considerations. As your question implies, it will still divide opinion.

    • @DuncTheBlue1878

      @@davidfell7438 Yes, down ‘Everton Way’ and then most fans will turn right into the tunnel under the west plaza terrace to access the turnstiles.
      Another reason for the North-South orientation of the stadium is that it’s the best for TV broadcasting too (relating to the sunshine, as David has highlighted).
